Re yoyoing. Okay, I have the solution. I feel fairly strongly about this stuff. It took me........12 years to fully commit to am exercise program. Between 18 and 30 I would start in the fun or start running. Then I would stop. Like 2 or 3 times a year. The thing is people exercise is a habit, it is a practice, it is a way of life, it is life. It is so simple. It makes me sick some days to think of the time I wasted not putting my body first. I want to scream, u fool.

Anyways I don't really see alot of yoyoing when I look at ur guys logs. People r getting stuff done. I would urge all of u though, just try to get 10 or 15 min a day. Frankly, any more than 30 min of excercise done on a daily basis can be said to he done purely for vanity. Consider the deminishing returns after 30 min. But also consider a failure to get that 30 minutes in and what that is costing u.

I saw a nice little presentation on u tube the other day. All they asked is that u limit ur sleeping/working/tv/videotapes/eating to 23.5 hours a day, simply exercise the rest. I will track the link down.

Get out there dudes.

Haven't felt all that great the past couple days... My sinuses have been extremely congested. I passed out last night and have been napping on and off all day. I think I'm just going to take it easy and may take the pup on a walk today depending on how bad the rain gets. He can be such a baby when it comes to rain...he'll want to go out and then as soon as you take him out and the rain touches him he turns around and runs right back in the house.

Got my gym bag and most of the stuff I asked for came in it.  Went to the gym and ran 2 miles on treadmill then did 300 metres in the pool.  Slow but was nice to do something.

Plan for the week is to run everyday and hit the pool 3 times.

Hey guys, looking good. I just got off my trainer. The new shoes & clipless pedals are magic. I felt so efficient I couldn't get my heart rate up; can't wait to see how that translates to speed on the road.

Next week's plan:

Mon: AM LTHR run test, which totals about 20' running easy and 30' running hard.

Tue: AM swim 30', possible weights PM trainer ride 30' - 45'

Wed: run 60'

Thu: AM swim 30', possible weights PM trainer 30'- 45'

Fri: run 40', possible PM trainer (recovery)

Sat: run 75', swim 45' and weights; if no swim, then trainer 70'

Sun: swim 45' and weights if didn't do it on Sat; trainer 70' if didn't do it Sat

Have a great week everyone!

My goal I to hit 100 k this week with a solid tempo run on Monday and. A 35 k run on Thursday or Friday. And 3 hours of yoga.

Nothing beats a Monday morning when you get up knowing you are going to run as fast as you can for as long as you can.

Hope your day and week goes well.

Here is one of my favorite motivational videos. Every once and a while it pops up on my facebook. Can't help watching it.

Okay, managed to drag my butt out of bed this morning for a run...barely. I don't usually run Mondays but had the chance and took it! Plans for this week is to run Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday with some cycle trainer/spin classes sprinkled in there.

Also starting the 100 push challenge with my 9 year old son. We completed it last year and we are going to do it again this year!

Have a great week everyone!!

u did 100 pushups? Your son did? That is awesome. I did my own variant, I just added one push up a day. Got to 50, but that is a mother. Currently I am doing 25 nightly after yoga, but I am almost ready to move up to 30. lol

Managed to get in the whole 20 minutes walking on the treadmill at a good pace.  Got my heart rate higher than I thought it should have been.  This was after getting 4 hours of sleep and babysitting the 2 year old this morning before my brother got off his shift.

I got in the water and was only able to get in 1200.  My chest started tightening up around 800 yards, so I got to 1000 and then did a long 200 cool down.  I stopped at the pharmacy and asked them to send the request again, this time with a note saying emergency on it.  The woman was very helpful and gave me all the information I would need if I had to go the an urgent care center or an ER, fml if that happens.

Went home a took a nap.  Thankfully my brother was home to make sure I woke up and I've been okay since.  Will have to cut back on the yardage for swimming this week.  Maybe if I end up in the hospital one of my f*ing doctors will write me a prescription.  It's gotta be nice leaving the office at noon on a Monday!

Logged a short run and swim today. Run was on the gym treadmill, I'm about at my time limit for treadmill sanity so will brave the outdoors tomorrow. Swim was 600 meters done as 25s with short breaks after each.

First I want to vent. Just got a new Garmin 405 for xmas. Used just a handful of time and it already went bad. Doesn't turn on cant do a soft or hard reset and garmin will get back to me in 3 days. GREAT.

Anyway, I have a couple training partners that are trying to get me to commit ot a HIM in June. I just did my first tri last year. I did 3 sprints. I wanted to do an olympic this year. I know there isn't a huge difference in distance from olympic to HIM in the swim but that's what I am the most concerned with. I know I can finish but I don't like to do things just to do them. I want to be competitive.

Sounds like you made your decision, no?

On a semi-related note, I am approaching the Prep period for training for my first HIM in September and I've been doing tests to train by heart rate. I found that my bike LTHR is about 151 and my run LTHR is 179. Is that big of a difference normal? I'm not surprised that it was a lot lower on the bike - I'm a pretty new cyclist compared to running and don't really have enough bike fitness yet to get my heart rate really high - but this difference seems kind of extreme, right? I'm thinking I might need to re-test on the bike. BTW, the original test was on the trainer, so it wasn't some variable like wind or temperature.

Do any of you train with heart rate? How do you like it? I have a few internet friend triathletes who are just starting with HR with their coaches, and they're frustrated with the slowness. The science makes sense to me, at least from what I understand, so I'm giving it a whirl using the tests from Joe Friel's Your Best Triathlon.

OK, re: 100 pushups, getting back in the pool, dragging selves out of bed early on a Monday to run: you all rock!

Got my run done tonight...it was rough.  I did not sleep well last night, about 4 hrs, so I kept dozing off on the drive home. Don't worry it was not my carpool day to drive.  But seriously, mid conversation and I would fall asleep.  Good grief...good night all!

Brutal run this morning. Mentally weak! It was all I could do to not stop and go sit in the hot tub!

I am looking forward to this half marathon to be over with!
