Yep snug as a bug here.  It has look and felt ominous but we have gotten very little moisture out of Isaac.  Looks like the Tampa area was sitting right in between two arms of the storm.

We did have a tornado in my county yesterday but it was no where near my house and a second tornado one county over I believe.  When I moved here I knew about the possibility of hurricanes but no one told me about the tornados!!  We get a couple in the area every year.

Standard response: "Your opinion, whilst interesting, is not relevant." BAM conversation over. Harsh but sometimes necessary.

I've done that before - usually to try and seem polite or to let them think that I care... and then I usually regret it.

But they might say something like, "Did you just say 'whilst'?".  I guess that would at least get the discussion off the topic of their opinion.

That assumes you stick around long enough to hear any response!

Did you punch them?  I've really wanted to just punch someone these days.  Just a punch.  Then I'd wish them a "good day" and they could go about their business..

This is why it is always good to have a sparring partner.

Pretty sure I have shin splints in my left shin. Less than 6 weeks before my marathon
Any advice? I don't have the strength to post in TT.

I have a feeling I should rest, ice, compress, and aqua jog (oh god) - combined with a long taper. Sad, sad, sad face.

That is about it, also check your running surface.  The roads here are crowned and if you run consistently on one side you are putting more pressure on one leg than the other.  This is how I would up with shinsplints in my left leg a while back.  Some dreadmill work and possible some trail running might be ok in place of aqua jogging if it's not too bad.

Thanks Kate. The funny thing is, I had no pain until I did a long run (12 of my 18 miles) on a gravel trail about 10 days ago. The interwebs says a change in running surface can cause them, but just one long run?? Ugh.

I'm very invested in this race so the stubborn part of me wants to at least try.

Off to get my ice pack from the freezer.

i googled it cause i've never had shin splints, and webmd seems to point to figure out why.  do your shoes maybe have too many miles on them?  and i'm sorry, that REALLY REALLY sucks.

i almost want to post in TT for you and see what happens...ha

This pair has 76 miles on them and I replace between 250 and 300 miles every pair.
I thought about over-running also, but I've only been running 4 days a week for this marathon... so strange.
