amd723 - 2012-09-06 3:10 AM Just signed up for the sept. 23d Escape to Miami oly distance race. it's suppose to be a difficult, yet fun race. for the swim start you are ferried to an island off Miami beach where you jump off the boat and swim back to Miami Beach. The water can be a bit rough as you cross the intercostal and this time of year there is always a chance of really rough water from hurricanes messing about off shore. The bike and run are completely unshaded and involve multiple causeway crossings ( Florida hills). Temps should be in the 90*s by run time, if not sooner. Now that I think about it, I'm not really sure why I signed up for this!

Now THAT is a Manatee kind of race and decision! Well done!

Usually, I sign up for these kinds of races after I've had a few adult beverages. As I'm at work now, the best I can figure is I've had too much coffee and that clouded my judgment.

At least you have some excuse. I just hump around, being myself, and OMIGODISIGNEDUPFORANIRONMANINACOLDMOUNTAINOUSPLACEWTF!!!!!

Hump around? See, you don't need that shirt!

Oh sh*t! I know you wouldn't expect this from me but friends don't let friends sign up for races under the influence. Unless of course that somehow benefits said friend, well alright, there is a whole series of rules.

Soooo get your drink on tonight and then drunk dial, I need to talk to you about the Miami marathon.

I usually get the DOOOO ITTTTT treatment. No drinking tonight, early morning run followed by big morning meeting.

I'm bored. I'm thinking of tearing out of this place before I cause any more damage. I need to pick up some more medicine at the chemist's, anyway (yes, it's open 24 hours. Of course they deliver. But I am in grave and imminent danger here ... ) although today the Hobbit Maid was of the opinion I was *NOT* ready to drive yet.

You mean for the Ironman? Oh, I'll kidnap someone, I'm sure. Oh wait, you mean, maybe to check before I do shyte like that? Like, "call someone BEFORE you pick up and use?"

Huh. What an astounding concept.

She did sternly say that I should call if I needed to get anything or go to the doctor again and her Hobbit Husband would come and drive me or take me on the bike.

I'm lying. She flat-out told me I SHOULD go to the doctor again and that the Hobbit Husband would take me.

It's 3:30am, though, there's still a little money paid up on my credit card, and Ironman Cairns is still open for next year. GET ME OUTTA HERE!!!

Sooo, why not some smaller events? Like a sprint or an Oly or shoot, even a marathon?

Really, just curious.

Not worth spending at least hundreds if not thousands of dollars flying out for. Would rather put the hundreds towards the thousands if'n you know what I mean.

To some degree, yes. Do they not have many smaller events locally?

Okay now we're talking I will be doing Cairns 70.3 so you could be there same time and it's Macca's favourite race...the water is warm...the bike is hilly, I mean really hilly but the scenery OMG, and the run is flat and hot but the atmosphere as you run through town a few times is phenomenal..just sayin'

OK your Yantiness... swim technique question.  I've been thinking about what my pull is doing while (or whilst to our friends across the pond) I breathe. I breathe to the right. It appears on swim smooth that while i am breathing on the right my left hand has completed most of the front part of the pull before the face goes back down. Is this a correct assessment?

amd723 - 2012-09-06 3:10 AM Just signed up for the sept.

You really should try to have a friend around for some of those times.

for the humping or the signing up for races?

Yes.

I've signed up for some really good races all by myself.

While humping?

Uh ... never mind.

Besides, you should know by now there's no such thing as "or."
