Larry and I bought our main Christmas presents for each other this past weekend.  We picked them out ourselves and are already using them, so no big surprises.  However, I have a couple of small gifts for him that I think I will wrap in the box from his big gift.

He got a new plunge router (woodworking power tool).  I got a new electric skillet and a new mixer.  A KitchenAid.  A little overkill but is it works great and was on a very good sale.  Now I just need to find a place to store it.  It doesn't fit where the old mixer did.

Nice.

I think you should wrap the stuff in the other box. He should have something to open Christmas morning.

Everybody, please make sure you are safe out there while running, biking, etc.

There's a man who lives in my neighborhood. He's a PE teacher at the local middle school, and a runner. He lives about a half mile from the school he teaches at. He regularly jogs to work. This morning, he was hit and killed in a crosswalk. It was dark, he wasn't wearing his usual reflective gear. He was a block from home, and maybe 3-4 blocks from work. I don't know if he had the right of way, or if he even knew there was a truck there. I don't know if he had an ipod playing, or if he was already "in the zone" and wasn't as aware as he should have been. I don't know if the truck was speeding, or if it ran the light. But I do know that I saw them load the gurney into the ambulance, and I saw the blood on the road, and a man who was obviously upset, watching the paramedics while pacing on the parking strip between the road and the sidewalk, rubbing his head. I do know that many lives changed this morning.

Please be careful out there.

Jury Duty - I had to report for the jury selection yesterday.  After answering a bunch of questions and listening to the answers from 36 different people, I was then the second person that the feds kicked off of the panel.  I have not idea why, but who cares, I got to go home.  Did not have to report this morning, and I'm hoping the will be the case for Thu & Fri.

I agree, everyone needs to open presents on Christmas morning.

I already have my big gift (macbook pro) and hubby has his (flat screen tv), and of course I guess we should count the new furniture to go under the tv, and then the new kitchen table.  Innocent We do have some odds and ends to go under the tree, like clothes.  Of course we have some presents for the kids and grandkids.

Tomorrow night I get to go and see the Pentatonix.  The were on the Sing Off last year.  They are an a cappella group.  I am sooooo looking forward to tomorrow night.

That sounds fun. On Friday, the hubbie and I and two others are going to see Transiberian Orchestra.

Can I go with you? I never did buy us tickets. Last year everyone wanted to go, this year when I said about buying tickets I was the only one who wanted to go.

So I ran 1.5 miles straight today. The first mile was for the neighbor I mentioned earlier. The other 0.5 was for me.

I'm getting early signs of shin splints, though. Ugh.

I'm going to a meeting tonight for Team in Training. I'm considering doing a marathon in May through them. Anybody have any views/opinions/experience with this aprticular charity endurance event group? The donations go to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

I know several people involved with them and they love it. I have seen them at races and they are a really supportive group for each other, too.  DO NOT GET SHIN SPLINTS.
