Kido - 2012-11-19 5:34 PM Good pics TJ.  I missed them because I thought they were in front of me and already done.  I was disapointed I did't watch them finish.

I didn't get you at the finish .. I was watching the feed and it was AWFUL for so long ...  then it went CRYSTAL clear and about 5 minutes later .. Tiny and Monica crossed.  Congrats on your finish!

Hahahaaaa was that on purpose?

Morning kiddos! My allergic reaction to the antibiotic I took Friday is still lingering. Debating on whether I should fill a script for Prednisone or just keep taking Benedryl. Trying to get off all meds but these hives are very distracting...

Prednisone is great stuff, but take it when necessary. Only you know how miserable you feel. Personally, I would fill the script as I have low tolerance for lingering health issues.

What was tha antibiotic and what was it for?

I was hoping some of you smarty pants would chime in

It was sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim for a UTI. I only took ONE pill Friday night and almost immediately started getting hives/welts/rash. It's appearing every morning, pretty bad this morning. Doc yesterday said it would get worse with heat (working out, hot shower, sweat, etc.) - and I'm a hot sleeper so I'm thinking that's aggravating it. But still - I would think it would be out of my system by now? Doc said it can linger for awhile I guess...

So you are allergic to sulfa drugs.  That's not fun.  An allergic reaction can persist for longer than the drug is in your system.  The inflammation reaction once started can be sensitive to other triggers, like heat, until the reaction subsides.

Yeah, sulfa drugs are vicious if you're susceptible to allergies. Doc should have asked and thought that through and looked for a different class which are effective for UTI. Mim surprised it's lingering as the half life should be shorter than, say, Zthromax as sulfas are very water soluble.

I'd fill the prednisone, put up with the bloating and temporary Weight gain and be done with the issue. Might even help with any inflammation associated with the UTI.

Also I would probably do the short course of Prednisone to settle down the inflammatory response
