Someone needs to come do IMTX with me.  I mean Steve would be the logical choice since he has family here and all.

I am jealous but don't know if I could be ready for a full. I am now down to Raliegh, Williamsburg, or Augusta for my HIM. If anyone has and HIM in there full plan I might be willing to change those and join you guys

I'd go with Augusta, but that's because I've done it. Super fast swim (down river), fast rolling bike, and flat run. It's hot though. Not until the end of Sept. though.

kaburns1214 - 2012-08-28 8:13 AM Ok so Scott is doing IMTX, Jen is doing IMMT, Karen is doing IMLT . . . who else is going to take the plunge in 2013?

I'm jealous of the IMMT folks. (I mapquested it last night to see if it's drivable for me!)

I think we all need to do a destination IM for 2014 - and make it Wisconsin. I'm pretty sure that's the one I'll do. (I got confused the other day and told my husband we needed to drive to Madison in a couple of weeks so I could sign up - not realizing I already have Tahoe on the plan for 2013. That's what I get for signing up for something so early.)

No IM in 2014 for me unless I'm able to seamlessly pull off the training and parenting, which is the big question of the day.  It's not like me to be impulsive, and I have no idea why yesterday was the day I decide to modify my personality.

My husband is 100% on board.  In fact he was pushing for it.  The big reason he was pushing is because Mont Tremblant is so beautiful.  He just doesn't want to go to Louisville.  LOL  He did have a couple things to say about the training.  (1) He agrees that one weekend training day needs to be recovery/easy, so I have the energy to do fun family things.  I've always been an active mom, and I've always taken my children to do fun things on the weekends.  The fun thing list waned this summer, along with my energy.  (2) He also wants me to consider seeing a nutritionist, and I agree.  With my personal history, it would be a good idea.  He thinks I eat like I'm on a diet every day rather than eating like an athlete.  (3) ALL other races have to be cheap and local/in Ohio, and I have to keep my spending to a minimum.  Umm..I'll try

Your husband is a smart man.  I've seen very good results from parents who block off one weekend day for family.  That is my plan at the moment.  Personally I think everyone who is transitioning to IM should see a nutritionist.  We had the lead nutritionist at the Ironman Sports Medicine Institute come and speak to our club on Sunday.  Very insightful.  I think I'm going to be making an appointment with her over the winter.

DDVMM - 2012-08-28 8:36 AM Kelly, how was your swim?

It was good.  500 yards of 50 Free / 50 Back.  I think my backstroke may be faster than my freestyle.  I really want to be able to race at the end of September (I'm thinking Poconos 70.3) but I need to make sure I can swim 2000 yards first.

jarvy01 - 2012-08-27 7:40 PM I just registered for IMMT.  I can't believe I just did that.  LOL  Now I keep thinking, what in the world have I done????

You've registered for your first IM -- CONGRATS!  Very exciting stuff!

Not me. The HIM volume has been a major adjustment so even if my wife was on board, and she probably never will be fully so it's going to cost me something, I don't think the body would handle it. I think another season of HIM's would serve me much better. I'm thinking 2014 fall.

That is one of the reasons I was looking at Augusta was the flatness. Patriots(Williamsburg) is the same. Raliegh is a point to point which is odd for me. However I have family near by so that would be cool. With our baby planning it makes it a little more challenging.

I'm thinking of doing a IM destination in 2013.  Perhaps Cozamel, mx?  There are complications training for a race in November.mmm  But first things first, dot dot dot IMAZ.

I have several friends who swear IMCoz is the best in the Americas.  Of course they treat it as a girls trip with a race in the middle.  LOL.

I am wanting to ... but you won't let me yet, and probably not wise yet anyway.  Either IMWI, IMLV, IMLP or IMFL.  I figure if I wait a couple of months, if I can afford destination to FL that will be my best bet and easiest for me, but IMLV will still be open and closer and cheaper.

I would love to do Cozumel in 2014!

I don't know what I am thinking ... must be all the IM energy.  Maybe I need to just get over the hump and forget about it ...

Waiting is a good idea.  You need to be healthy for a little while before jumping in.

Now that Kelly has me back at it, I am struggling at getting up early, especially with 1:30 bike .... need to get my body used to it. So easy to roll back over and go to sleep.

Do you guys get up even if you have to drag your body out of bed?

Saturday, Sunday and Monday of next weekend are calling for rain.

I know it's 11 days out and the weathermen are always wrong on tomorrow's weather never mind 11 days out but I have no interest in 70.3 with 68 as the high with rain. My first Olympic was 55 and raining and that was miserable. Swim and run no worries but the bike will suck. Hope this isn't the one time the long range forecast comes to fruition.

Yes.  I'm so used to it at this point that if I don't train first thing I feel like poo.  I just put my alarm (cell phone) half way across the room so I have to get out of bed to turn it off.  Pretty much half the battle for me.

I get up every single day at 4:30-5:00 a.m.  If I don't get a training session in then, it's not happening because of the kids' schedules.  I've really struggled to fit the second session in this summer.  Anything past 8 p.m. is a NO for me, because I am absolutely spent from chasing my kids around all day.

My mother visited the week before we moved, and she stayed in my room because we had an AC unit in there (poor husband was stuck in the 100 degree guest bedroom).  She was surprised at how quickly I shot out of bed at 4:15 in the morning.  I told her that the workout has to start at a certain time and not a minute later, as the kids have their activities, camp, etc.

My husband and my mother agree that it takes a certain kind of person to be able to get up like that day in and day out.
