Slipped my run in late last night and a short ride this morning.  Swimming at lunch and to be true to my rehab running plan I need to run tonight.  We'll see if the run happens.  Overall for the month I think I might be getting some of my mojo back.  The ankle is still not 100% and I dont think it will be for quite a while.  I am noticing that running slow is working from a cardio perspective.

Got to watch my oldest run in her first cross country meet today.  She was convinced she would come in last and that she couldnt keep up with her friend on the team.  She was wrong on both fronts.  For a kid who has never really run before she's doing great.  She is very sore but will adapt over the next few weeks.  She runs with no confidence and we're hoping my wife can run with her and fix her form - she is a textbook case of not "running tall" - almost slouched over and surely causing some of her aches, etc.  I was really proud of her and thought she did super!

Last run of the month this morning, 6.6 miles.  And my biggest volume month ever!  91.25 miles running, 472 on the bike and 31500 in the pool.  Next month will be my first 100+ mile month running, I'm looking forward to it.  Will go over 500 on the bike too.  And we'll see if I can hit 40k in the pool at the same time.  Good times!

And rounding up the rear. last run of the month. 6 miles.

Been dieting last 4 days. Able to come in at a small net loss (.8 lbs) for the month.

This is pretty committed group. I ran every day in August that my six day a week plan called me to run. (The 5 rest days are because there are five Wednesdays in August, and one of the run days didn't count because it was my sprint leg and I didn't run a half hour). And I came in last! Good going everyone.

Once again, I am honored to be a part of this group.  It seems we add new people in and it just forces me to new limits.  This is my highest volume training month since I started tri-ing in Dec 2010.  Andy and Gabe, you can't imagine how much you pushed (pulled) me this month.  I can't wait to join the HIM club.

Swam with the peeps this evening, I was finally able to hold on for the entire set. Now I need to keep going. Of all three sports, swimming is the one where you lose fitness faster, no doubt.

Gabe, I know you have a time in mind (which I have no doubts you will achieve), but New York and Boston are races to enjoy and not PR, it is more like a celebration run. Same applies to Kona. I hope someday I'll get to do one, two or all three.

Hey E, I hear you and don't worry, I won't try to BQ in NY Wink, just have lots of fun (and come in under 4hrs).

I'm also positive you will be able to do all three amazing races in the future!

So, do we have a winner yet? it seems like Andy and Gabe are one workout apart but the day is not over. I guess we will  know tomorrow... Regardless, we are all winners! I feel motivated and I believe this has been one of the best challenges to date, too many of us very close to the lead and almost everybody very committed too. Where were the Putnams and Rachel?

Do I need to bust out some laps in the hotel pool or some time on the stationary bike? Down in Mpls tonight for my wife's marathon tomorrow. No matter, it's a win for me to get another solid month done. Now I need to string it along into September and keep going strong.

I'm done for the month and very thankful to our mentor and the rest of the group for the motivation through July's and August's challenges. August was my highest total ever in terms of hours and I'm pretty certain I wouldn't have gotten nearly the results I achieved in my Oly if not for the Challenge. I've yet to do a race report but not tonight. I've got an 18 mile run to do first thing in the morning. :-)

I will play along for September. It will be all running again, but if all goes I will eclipse 1000 miles for the year and close to 200 for the month. More importantly, I love keeping up with everyone else's progress and accomplishments.67 minute run this morning. 8 miles of all hils again. I'm starting to enjoy the hills and knowing that they will discourage weaker willed runners. Bring it on!

I'm here!  Thanks for remembering me.  I've been frantically trying to catch up with the group after feeling like I dropped off the face of the planet for the last month.  My plan for september is to try to get back to some consistency. Number and length of workouts isn't important, but I'm going to try to do something 6 days a week.

So to get September off to a start I went to the tri club swim session this evening.  I was 20min late because I went straight from work, but at least I did something...

Sorry for starting the Sept. challenge like this, but today was long bike day and the guys I went out with are training for IM Cozumel.

Today a 85 mile, 4:38 ride + 30 min brick run

Like hell you're sorry!

I make a motion that we divide up into two groups, younger than 45 and 45 and over.  I don't have to compete with 15 years younger in a race, why do I have to do it in the challenge?
