Tony, I know he is cocky but that is what makes Cavendish so yummy!   I could eat him up with a spoon!  Such a hotty!  And IMO to be a professional athlete, especially a top ranked sprinter like he is, you've got to be cocky to be that successful.

Has anyone ever mixed Nuun and cytomax/sports drinks?  I've noticed salt build up on my arms and think I need to supplement my electrolyte intake for the summer.  I've taken Electrolyte tablets before and had no problems, but Ryan's comments made me think about the Nuun.   Which do you recommend, popping the tablets or mixing in the Nuun?

TrevorC - 2009-06-25 10:44 AM I'm back...I missed you all so much yesterday. I missed 2 pagres yesterday wowser!
I did my own version of a triathlon yesterday. Swim-Golf-Softball. Was a nice day out, still today though. 1st round of gold of the year, so a little stiff today.

Shannon- I can not wait for your RR. Enjoy it!!

Matt - I love this line : "He actually recommended that I grab my old running shoes that didn't hurt and go for a 2-3 mile run tonight.  (I think it was med speak for HTFU)"  --If doc's could really say what they think! Heal up

Tony- Slow down on the bike and save yourself a bit for the run. That worked for me this weekend. You're a nutbar on the bike like me. We love to hammer it!!! It may cost a few minutes off your bike split, but save you for your run???

And all this Garmin talk.....I've had my 310xt on order for like 2 months. Now they are saying middle of July. I guess on the 1st release there was some software issue #$@% so they held back the next release. I've started wearing 2 watches as well. Right wrist is the waterproof one I start on swim, and on my left I have the quick-release for the garmin. BUT I DO NOT WEAR TWO ONE THE SAME WRIST!(sorry was that too loud?)

DORK!!  WHAT KIND OF LOOSER WEARS 2 WATCHES DURING A RACE?

JHagerman - 2009-06-25 6:34 AM My garmin has an auto stop feature on it.  so i'll start it before a race and stand still until the gun.  if i ever am stopped for more than 3 seconds, it'll pause time.  when i log the data into sporttracks, it tells the total time stopped/paused and shows the location.

So are you swimming with it?  I thought they were NOT waterproof? Another question... If you are using a Garmin on the bike then why do you also need a speed sensor on the wheel?  Isn't a Garmin GPS signal, and isn't this more accurate than wheel size, rotation, etc.?  I understand the cadence, but not speed?

TDF Challenge- I am in...

Suzy/Ryan- Thanks for the kind words
Doug- Great job on the swim.  I think one of the most important aspects of OWS is having confidence in it.  Feeling comfortable, and relax.  Sounds like it went just that way for you!  Congrats.
Matt-Sorry to hear about your cheap doctor... It's too bad he wouldn't just sign the paper for a new bike !  But the outcome sounds good!
Rob- It could be worse... You could have a really nagging zit on the inside of your nose!
Shannon- I am not going to do the math on how far you are out on your race, but best of luck!!

JOHN--- Hopefully you are ready this at your desk and next to you is a tall glass of water! Start/Stay hydrating!  It's a scorcher in Lubbock!

Rob/Suzy--- Hopefully no offense was taken in my post about you guys?  I was only playing around.   Bad sarcasm I suppose.  Yes I helped guide your direction, but I only did that because you guys are ready for the "adventure!"

Still one big happy family right?!

awesome pics Steve. Great action sthot of the lady falling.....

As for the Garmin debate.. I just hooked up my cadense/speed sensor on my bike. It was a total pain, in my RR I said that it actually slid into my spokes on when i hit a bump. I thought I had that baby tight enough, but guess not.
Not sure of the difference of the accuracy of the GPS vs wheel size. Were you saying you'd think the GPS would be more accurate? And as for being waterproof- I've heard many stories of people using them with no issue. But I'm not taking the chance. I've heard people put them in Ziploc's and then under their swim cap!! I'll wait for the 310.

YES.  I promise to stop giving you crap about this after September 12th.  In fact, I will call you when I cross the finish line so we can officially wipe the slate clean, ok?  I am volunteering at IM WI the next day. Hmmmm.

In my ongoing nutritional experiment, today I carried Coconut water in my FB.  It has gotten some ringing endorsements due to its high levels of electrolytes, esp. potassium and natural ingredients, like fructose.  The cliffs note version is it did not bother my stomach a bit and I actually felt pretty good on the full 15m which is awesome given the heat.  The downside is it has a very funny smell and is too sweet.  Ended up diluting it at my turnaround. Not sure I could handle a lot of the stuff, but I am going to give it another shot.  Also took Success Tabs pre and at the 9m mark and that probably helped as well.

I'm totally behind on the tour challenge. I'm in, but I need to read up on what I am signing up for.  I make no secret that I want Lance to win.  Think it is a longshot, but he's my man.  He really rocks my boat.

I'll bet people outside of this sport have no idea what happened here. That picture rocks but is aweful at the same time.  One of the good things about wearing sports bras. That and they hold the heart rate monitor strap in place.  Plus you can shove ice wash clothes down them.  Sorry, totally off topic there.  I'll shut up and go drown myself for an hour. See y'all later.

Tracy may be onto something John...If it's hot down there this weekend, that may be something you need to look into wearing. Plus it'd be cooler than a tri-top.

The Garmin can use GPS to determine you wheel size on your initial ride, so it's quite accurate.  This allows you to get distance in areas where GPS is not available, such as on the trainer indoors.

The speed sensor comes with the cadence sensor - it's one unit with 2 separate magnets... so yeah, for indoor training you have to have the speed sensor (as the gps doesn't track distance when you don't move).  YOu can set the fr305 to auto determine your wheel size, but I've found that if you program the wheel size, then I can make it track me at a slower speed (mph).  I use it this way so that come summertime, I'm just a slight step ahead.

So: If you have the FR305, you need the cadence/speed option, especially if you use the Spinervals DVD's (as they are based on gearing and cadence).

Go with the squared leg swim shorts.  Not quite the bikini bottom look and much shorter than tri shorts/jammers, tell your wife it's the new Euro look coming to America (soon... maybe).
