karen26.2 - 2012-09-06 9:51 AM So how does one learn fly? I always thought I was doing breast correctly, only to be told by my last masters coach I was not. All my swimming has been self taught, so there you go. He corrected me, but I feel slower now.

I'm in Dallas waiting for my next flight, delayed, bored! And a calligraphy pen exploded on me during last flight. Do you know the ink in thosediors not come off? At all, no matter how much you scrub. My fingers are covered in ink! Just thought I'd share that with you all.

Have Kelly send you the PDF file.  It's like 20 something pages of drills.

jarvy01 - 2012-09-06 11:11 AM Congratulations on the pregnancy, Scott!

Thanks. My MIL's reaction was a bit underwhelming.  That was a fun car ride home with a fuming redhead next to me.

Ha, ha, just what you feared.  Congrats on the baby ... you will be properly prepared for IMTX with lack of sleep and stress.

Butterfly wipes me out completely, I like the breast.

If you really want to learn, go get a lesson.  They are fairly cheap and will get you going in the right direction.  Sometimes drills are hard to do correctly with butterfly.

It's not even going to get up into the 60s until 1:00 p.m. on my race day.  FREEZING.  Full sleeved wetsuit for swim + arm warmers on bike.  I can't take it.

The car ride?  No.  We picked up her Mom on Sunday, went to her Aunt's house to swim at their pool, and then dropped off the MIL.  Afterwards Cindy mentioned her Mom was less than enthusiastic.  I noticed it too but tried to play it off as if I didn't think so.  We sent an ultrasound with some pics of the girls from the first day of school in the mail to my folks for Grandparent's Day so I'm still waiting for a reaction from them.

OK so I'm torn between being a good friend and being selfish in my training goals for Oilman.  My buddy who started doing tris with me but never really got addicted like I did is supposed to be doing his first HIM with me at Oilman.  The course has hills, well hills for us are rollers for most others, and he dies on anything not pancake flat.  I know he needs my help but this probably means me deviating from what I need to do on long ride days to make this happen.  So conflicted.  Then I get an email from him that he's "TRIed out" and can't wait for Oilman to be done so he can stop having a workout schedule every day.  IDK.  He has a 15 to 17 mph goal for the bike and a 12 min mile goal pace for the run.  It's going to be a long day for him either way.  Sorry, just venting.  I really want to nail this race and why I train with people of the same or greater ability for the most part.

I finally got butterfly down a couple weeks ago.  Me linking my front and back halves has always been an issue with free and was the same with fly.  Just clicked one day.  The worst part of IM sets now for me is breast.  Tuckers me out and I'm crazy slow.

Jeremy you are the most fit PE/Health teacher I've ever seen.  Kinda sad really.  Most of my teachers were just fat football coaches who needed a spot in a classroom.  In Texas football takes priority.  As far as races I have the Houston Triathlon (Oly) and Oilman (HIM).  Might pick up a half or full mary or both before tri season starts up next year with Texas 70.3 in April.

First of two workouts in the books today.  1:20 on the dreadmill with 8 hill repeats in there.  Trainer session for lunch.

Oh and I guess I can announce that Cindy is pregnant since we're out of the first trimester.  Baby #3 is due the first week of March.  Should make the final weeks of IMTX training interesting.

Its your third one -- you have this down pat by now, right?

Relax and rest.

Remember there are things you can control and things you can't control.  This is something you can't control.

I know you want to help, but you've also put in a lot of work to achieve your goals.  I think you can be encouraging without compromising your goals (e.g. parallel play -- sometimes Shaun will bike with me, we ride out together to a loop and then I go off at my pace, we get to see each other on the loop, ride the same amount of time and then ride home together).
