Got a short run in this morning, -4F, added a short bike on the trainer. Supposed to be colder for tomorrow so I need to find my warmer socks.

Looking good, guys!

Tuesday I got in 9 miles on the bike that goes nowhere at the gym, then hopped on the treadmill for a solid 3 miles.

Tonight was swim team. Good 500M warm up. I'm finding that around 250 I get to where I'm not panicked and hicuppy. It was IM and Medly relay night. I like IM's even though I stink at flies. Instructor lets me do one armed ones because I think it hurts his feelings to watch me do full ones. Quite the hot mess at those. Still looking like a drunk swimmer on my back, but I'm staying afloat a lot better.

Tomorrow I hope to get a run in before another night of swim team. This Saturday we're doing the Xterra bike course again on Saturday, and on Sunday will be my 2nd super sprint triathlon.

Have a great day!

LOL, when we do IMs at my masters swim, the coach let's the nonswimmers (read me) substitute freestyle for fly.  I guess he doesn't like to get his feelings hurt either

Got a 5 mile run in last night and 1900 yd swim (no fly) in this am.  Slowly getting back into the groove. HOwever, i've yet to add the bike back in.  in fact, i haven't been on my bike since 11/13 (my HIM). That can't be good.

Ann-Marie

. I'm in the same boat re: the bike. I broke my mtb saddle a few months back and just haven't bothered to put the spare on. :-/ supposed to be nice this weekend, maybe I'll knock out 10 miles of single track. Yesterday I swam, I'd ballpark it a mile, pool was really busy and I couldn't seem to settle in to my workout, then jumped on the treadmill for a 3 mile run only to have the thing keep shutting off Grrrrr, I think I got it all in finally. Another swim/run day today as the trails ww too wet and I haven't got my road bike yet...

Hey everyone... been off the computer for about a week.  Traveling to my race and made a conscious effort to spend time with my parents (read: no computer).  The marathon went really well: 4:19:38.  All my mile splits were within 41 seconds of each other (fastest: 9:39, slowest: 10:20 inc potty break).

I did enter the hurt locker at mile 21ish.  But I was able to push through and finish the last .3 of a mile with an all out sprint!

I haven't trained since the race... feels a little weird.  But I am crazy sore and figure another day or two off wont be a big deal.  Thought about going for a light swim today, but we had a snow day (NO SCHOOL!), so I figured I'd spend another day recovering and spend some time with my wife & kids.

Excellent!! Way to push after hitting the 21st hard. Enjoy your break. Just looking at my running shoes offended me for at least 2 weeks after I did a marathon. Great time!

Ann Marie: I think my swim form in general hurts my instructor's feelings, but he's so patient. He refers to me as his swimmer who wants to do triathlons. I guess to explain why "one of these things is not like the others", lol! I find it hard to get on the bike. The only way I've done so is joining up with the group on Saturdays. Otherwise I'm on the spinner in the gym.

Timmay: Way to beat the 3 miles out of that shady treadmill!

Lenny: Holy Snickers, that's COLD! Props for training in such temps. I cry when the AC in the house is below 70F.

Way to go - congrats!  You deserve a little time off after all the hard work.  It's amazing how sore a marathon can make you, even when you're properly prepared.  Enjoy the down time.

WOOHOO!!!! Ordered my new bike today! Got in at the last minute on the Cervelo "share the ride" deal! Ended up ordering a P2 :-). Combined that with a nice hard swim to start the day 500wu, 5x100 on 1:40, 10x50 on :50, 5x100 on 1:40, and a short cool down. I was shooting for 5 sets of 500 but got there 15 mins late... 2 mile easy run on the treadmill (different one this time, fool me once... ) great day! Got a little 4 miler planned tomorrow and a group run (7-8) Sunday lined up. Never thought I'd say this, but I'm about to wear out my first pair of running shoes :-). Great job on the Mary NK!!! Enjoy the break!!

Woo hoo! New bikes! I seemed to have broken mine. Went to do the Xterra bike course and discovered that the gears that make hills easier aren't working. BOOOO! Luckily the super sprint tri tomorrow's bike course is super flat.

Friday: Swimming. Worked on breast stroke and diving. LOL at me diving! Quite entertaining.

Saturday (today): Just under 20 miles on the bike. Started out a group MTB ride, but had to take it to the road all by my lonesome after I realized the gears were broken. Proud of myself for not just packing up and going home though.

Tomorrow: Stick and Back Super Sprint Triathlon. My itty bitty tester to see how I handle the OWS with my time swim training.

Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Bummer about your bike, but way to stick with it.

Good luck with your tri, I'm sure you'll rock it!

I ran 15 miles this am and followed it up with a 2100yd swim.  I am tired and see a nap in my future!

Happy weekend all.

Getting quite out here, everyone must be out training. Trying to plan my next marathon, think I might do Chicago this fall and a 1/2 marathon in May.

There is a snowshoe race coming up the end of February so I am going to have to get my shoes out this weekend and see how they feel.

i'm thinking of doing a HM on Feb 5th.  I haven't completely bought into it yet, but I'm really close to that decision.  After that, I have a spartan race the end of February.  Eventually, I will have to start thinking about tris - after all, I just got my new P2, I can't let it get rusty!  Here she is now.

Just swimming for mw since Sunday, freezing rain around st Louis and I've got some pain in my arch... Resting a few days then light running to wind out the week. Dis my.least favorite main set in the pool today... 4x400 on 7:00... No fun... Good news is I kept the 3 outta 4 splits under 6min. I should have a really nice base that I just need to maintain once I start the bike training in a few weeks!

I could use a little motivation/inspiration and more than willing to do the same for others so would like to join in if I could.

About me: 51 years young, did my first tri in 1986 as just a fun training day (was x-skier) and really liked it. Currently just starting to ramp it up for some sprints and some half irons later in the year with a few other events sprinkled in. Been a member of BT since 2005, 2 daughters, active duty Army MSG contemplating retirement this summer.

Been doing well with the swim team training, and have been getting at least 1 spinner and one mountain bike session per week. Felt awesome on my second super sprint triathlon. This weekend is a sprint, which is my next big test. 700M swim. EEK! I am going to try my best to start getting up at the crack of dawn to get runs in. I have been slacking big time in that department.

Hey Gerald, welcome. Sat did a light 1.5 run just to to something. Sunday was the Texas independence bike ride. I did the 48 mi route and followed it up with a 2.8 run to the inlaw's house. Bike went good just got into two groups that were a tad too fast and burned my legs out. I'm happy with the pace; 2:43 that included a quick stop to refill the water bottles.

Man the legs are barking at me today! I was stuck in a hotel last night so i did 60 min on the stationary bike then a couple miles on the treadmill. I finished it up with dead lifts, squats, and calf raises. Today: 4.3 run and 25 on the bike with some upper body weights.

Sorry I've been MIA a little lately... been crazy at work and trying to stay off the computer when at home!

Training is picking back up since my marathon, though the volume is down from my peak marathon training.  I am looking to the summer races to finalize my racing plans... pretty sure I've got it dialed in, but need to check a few dates still.

Anyways, now that we're a day from February, how about everyone shares their goals for the month of love?

My February goals:

  • 6 training sessions each week all month
  • Minimum 2 strength sessions per week
  • Be at 196 lbs by the end of the month (lose 1 lb a week)
