For the record-Typing is an ordeal when the tips of your fingers are all sliced up.

Between the weather change making all my fingers split and my inability to clean sharp tools w/out testing them on myself my hands are a sad sight.

hey Nibbs -

I got the early call to go pick up my son which is why I had to drop out of last night's conversation.  They did really well - won the whole competition.

This morning - gorgeous fall Northeast weather.  Beautifully cool - with the wind blowing the leaves around.  By the time the sun came up (I started my run in the dark), the trees were just glowing as if on fire.  I love this weather.  Turned in an 18.5 mi run.  Probably my best of the season.  But, might be too-little-too-late as my marathon is in 2 weeks.  Hoping for some race-day magic.

Off to my daughter's soccer game...

Afternoon Nibbs!

We got home from church today to find that our demon dog had shredded the wood blinds that are on the back door. Needless to say, Chewie is in big doo doo.

After lunch, I went out for a teeny bike ride and it sucked. It was way windy and apparently I'm not over my cold. Was supposed to ride with my co-worker tomorrow morning, but there's a frost advisory tonight and the temps at 8 am and 9 am are 34 and 40 degrees. NOT HAPPENING while I still have my cold. Gotta focus on running running running...4 weeks until half mary.

He called me a wimp. That's not right, is it?

I also went for a wee run with Elder Monkey. Her race is in 4 weeks too.

That's my weekend. Have to run a quick errand and then hang with the fam...

I'm glad tomorrow is my day off from running.  It's going to be way too cold for that.

My husband called me a wimp today, too.  I was commenting that I was really cold after my run this morning.  I did wear shorts so I didn't feel like that was fair.

It is pretty warm.  It's made out of merino wool.  Too bad I have to knit the other one now!

I still think its cool you are learning to shoot... Ive never wanted to own a gun... but if someone wants to teach me how to fire one in a safe controlled environment id totally be there!

I got to fire a... Ak-47? is that a gun? Or something like that when I was in vietnam... they changed by the round/bullet or something to have a go...

I thought it was a blast... even though the push back (no idea what its calleD) was a bit much...

Yep, an AK-47 is indeed a gun.  "Push back" is usually called recoil.

We've gone a couple of other times (one or two).  Usually we just shoot pistols, which are pretty easy.  I'm a pretty good shot - actually more accurate than my husband a lot of times.  The shotgun was harder.  Much more recoil than I was expecting.  And that was a smaller shotgun than people often use.

So is it a practice thing... in terms of getting used to it???

Im not a big fan of guns... then again we dont have the 'right to bear arms' thing here either...

But as a sport... i get that... sounds like fun!

I think so.  Part of it is making sure you hold it right when you shoot.

We really only go to ranges and shoot at targets.  Also don't currently own any, although my husband would like to get a pistol so it is cheaper when we want to go to the range.

I don't really like them except as a sport.  I'm not comfortable with leaving them loaded in the house.  I told my husband I'm not okay with that.

Yeah...so here's my list right now:

1. Finish hat.  Add ear flaps.

2. Add ear flaps to other hat.

3. Wrap

4. Washcloths

5. Other sock

The first four need to be done before Christmas.  I'd actually like the wrap before I go to Mexico at the end of November.  The sock is a low priority since it is for me and I don't need it for anything.
