PennState - 2009-07-14 4:41 AM So this thread continues to be a quiet one I see

Planned meetings:

1. Gatorade SWim at 8:00am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. (at least I'll be there)

2. Saturday night pre-race dinner. I would like to go. Anyone else interested in sitting at a table? I will probably be sitting with Paul Fritsche (pro triathlete who I am predicting will win the event!!!) and would love to sit with any or all of my fellow BTers.

3. Sunday 7:00am. How about a meet-up in Mirror Lake for a little SBR?

After injuries to you, newleaf, and joshkaptur and indecision about racing by gopennstate, this thread seemed like bad luck for a while!

1.  I'll be at the water 8am Thurs (if I am awake), but will be swimming @7 Fri and Sat.  Looks like my coach has me scheduled to SBR at about the times I'd start on each course on race day.   Comm. Fund breakfast is Fri. at 8:00.

2.  Schedule says athlete dinner 5:30 Friday.  Is that a different prerace dinner?

3.  I'll be there!

Does anyone remember where the first bike aid station is?

Aid station is 10 miles out at Cascade Inn after the first long climb (I believe).  We volunteered there last year.

Last long ride for me today, should be great day in PA for it.

Just to let every body know what gearing I have decided to go with.  Chain rings 39-53 rear cassette 12-25.

I tried my 11-23 several times on long rides.  I just feel fresher at the end on the 12-25.

SavageMan will take a 12-27 and even a chainring change.

Yes, go light out of T1. There is some significant climbing initially. I plan on the 1 bottle of carbopro only to start. "Float like a butterfly... "

Is that what you tell yourself climbing hills?  "Float like a butterfly, Fred, float like a butterfly."  That's my new LP hill climbing mantra!    And I'm gonna picture you saying it and smile.

I think what Fred is suggesting "Float like a butterfly... " is not have excessive weight going up the first set of climbs.  Then pickup water at the first water point.
