Afternoon.

I'm not in a very good mood. But it's lifting.  Just signed up for my 1st duathlon! This Sunday afternoon!  Lovely 62 mile drive however!

Whoo whoo! Hope the mood lifting continues...and cool on the duathlon. I found the one I did much harder than I expected...being a non-swimmer and all.

Hi everyone

Not much new to report. It was beautiful out on Saturday, 65 and sunny (although windy) so it was nice to get out and run. It is going to be tough running on the treadmill any time soon.

Today's a day off, as I am sore from adding Yoga to my routine. I realized that I have not been stretching enough, so I want to make sure I do something a couple of days a week.

I hope everyone is doing well and did not pig out like I did for the SB.

We had the 65 & sunny weather today - it was great for a run...but the cold weather & rain come back tomorrow. Boo!

No pigging out for me...I spent a good portion of the first half of the Super Bowl on my trainer.

I've come to the conclusion that I still SUCK at running!  I feel like the top parts of my legs are glued together. I'm wondering if I need to adjust my stride a little.  Spread it out more.  It's SO annoying!   Although I did have Mr Sniff n Pee with me tonight and he does slow me down, especially when I don't know he's peeing and I'm suddenly jerked backwards on his leash.

Must do more speed intervals outside.  Natures treadmill.  No can steal THAT from me!

The next 2 weekends for me are whopping workouts!  Duathlon this weekend and then a #40 to celebrate Leslie's birthday!  40 laps, 40K bike ride and um.  4 mile run?  Heh.  Hopefully followed by 40 cupcakes!!!!

Yes, I need to nail down the details of the big 4-0 workout.  Any of you others can certainly do similar in my honor!  And if you need my address to send gifts (tri-related, of course) I will be glad to share.    I just watched an episode of Anthony Bourdain in Chicago and now all I want to do is eat heavy, fatty, fried meats and pizzas.  Mmmm.  I'll be there in two weeks.   I got trapped in the house all day today with a sickie but managed two workout dvds so that's a start.  Tomorrow I will get out again!!

Lynne, with running, just keep trying and find what makes you feel best, fluid, and strong.  I change mine up a lot, although my pace stays pretty consistent.  I have been trying to speed up the last half mile of all runs.  I read somewhere that it can help race times.  We shall see!  I also hate when the dog puts on the brakes, so irritating!!!

Good night, all!

Oooh. That sounds like a great way to celebrate the big 4-0! Although eating bad food and drinking lots of wine is more my style. Hee hee!

Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday. I'm a little under the weather still with a head-cold. Grrr.

I hope you feel better Kristin!  I am in love with red velvet cupcakes from Starbucks.  300 calories a pop!

They won't be selling them much longer either! PANIC!

I am being very random today.

So any tips for my 1st Duathlon?  Seems more like a nice brick workout to me.  But others I looked at I felt they were a bit out of my league. You know?

Random is good. I am random too.

The only duathlon I did was a 2.85 mi/18 mi/2.85 mile...it was rainy. It was hilly. I wasn't ready for it. Other than that, it was all good.

It's definitley like a brick, except the run to bike transition was hard on me.

Thank goodness it's (almost) halfway done!  I enjoy the patients while I am on service, and taking care of them, but it's hard when it's really busy.  I'm still holding out hope for a workout tomorrow...

Hi

I too am very glad the week is more than half way over. It has been a long one, and I have 2 non stop days at work coming up.

I did manage to get a pretty good workout in tonight. I added some quick intervals to my bike workout, to make it more challenging, plus mix it up a little bit. I also did a quick lift just to let my muscles know I have not forgotten about them

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well...

I did a 2 hr bike ride today, including a trip up Juanita hill....a 2-mile long hill that I use to gauge my fitness throughout the year.  It wasn't too bad!!  Nice weather today, in the 50s and sunny, and the mountains were out, the lake was calm, very fun.

I actually don't think I own anything red which is a no no in Chiefs land

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. It got up to 70 here, so it was a great day. I ran 7 miles this morning and am feeling it now. Sore, but not hurt which is the important thing. I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

I am planning on swimming tomorrow for the first time this year. I hope that I have not forgotten how to do it!!

How'd the swim go, Brian?

I've been bailing on my swim this past week because of my head cold...I hate to swim, so any excuse will work...but I need to get back in the pool since I signed up for an early season Oly.

It went ok. I did not feel totally out of practice, although my upper body was a little shocked at the work it was doing. I finished off with a 400 just to make sure I could do some type of distance. I could have gone longer, but I felt my form slipping.

I think I am allergic to whatever chemicals they put in the pool though. I was stuffed up for a couple of hours after the swim, but now am fine. Has anyone else had that happen before?

I am not a big fan of swimming either, especially in the winter...

Good job getting into the pool!  I need to focus on that this week--it seems that every week there's one discipline that slides by without much attention.  My pool is saline treated, so not too chemical-heavy, which is nice.

I had my big 40th birthday party last night (which is different than the big 40th birthday workout, the 40th birthday brunch, and the 40th birthday trip, all still to come)....we stayed at a fancy hotel on the 40th floor, had a great night out with friends, and I danced until my feet felt like stumps.  Of course, having run over 9 miles earlier in the day, they were a little tired to begin with!  Still....so far it's a heck of a way to turn 40.  It's gonna be a high calorie week so I am going to be working out diligently!

I have a sore backside.  1 reason. Biking.  Other. Eating rotten indian food on Friday afternoon.

I became a Duathlete today! Just did my RR.  Kinda bland as it was a small event but I had a blast.

My pool is also saline water! It's so much better for swimming in! For your skin and your suit

Happy 40th birthday!  I had a great time turning 40- no qualms at all.  I think it's a fabulous age!

Sorry I have been scarce lately- it was quite a busy week on service, and now I'm trying to catch up with everything I let go last week, before I head to New Orleans tomorrow (I come back Friday night, and leave Saturday afternoon for Colorado with the family for vacation).  I hope everyone else is doing better keeping up with the workouts than me!

Thanks for the birthday wishes!  I'm having a pretty good day, not really much out of the ordinary. But it 's a great month so I am not complaining!!  I feel no different at 40 than I did yesterday at 39.  Although now I am in a different AG!  I did swim 40 laps today to celebrate (2000 m) and that actually felt great.  It's snowing now and I am heading out for a short run with Mr. Dog before going out to dinner with my hubby....
