Pro 4353 Wallingford, PA | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge Baowolf - 2009-10-08 4:56 PM Alrighty I got in my very mean lunch workout 8 miles with 6x half mile repeat at sub 6:40 pace, so fun (38 miles total now). Here are the stats on the run: warmup pace, heart rate = 8:11, 167 1/2 mile repeats: 1= 6:30, 165, 2=6:35, 169, 3= 6:37, 172, 4=6:31, 174, 5=6:32, 174, 6=6:28, 176 recovery 1= 8:22, 153, 2=8:36, 3=8:28, 160, 4=8:55, 161, 5=9:04, 161, 6=8:59, 165 cool down= 8:16, 164 Ok now for shins. Sore shins means you need to soften them up with rollers or the Marathon stick and ice them after every single run until you are very sure that they are fine. You may also have to go lite for a few days/1 week if above does not help with the pain. Basically it is like your muscles have knotted up and running the stick over them breaks the knotted muscles up so they can work properly. A massage can do this too, but it better be a mean one. The stick, hurts so good. My wife always looks over at me with some concern when I use it on shins or calves. Stretching may help as well, but definitely ice and the stick... after every run of any distance. I did some repeats today too, but mine were for time (7:30, with 2:30 recovery), not distance --- but my "speedwork" pace was slower than your recovery pace! Regardless, though, I seem to be getting faster, so I can't complain too much! I have a half-mary in November, and hoping to finally break 2:00 - I'm beginning to think that it just might be within my reach this time! |

Regular 60 | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge Hey hey Pumpkinpeople, I just got over 40% of my goal for the running challenge after today/tonight's sessions when coupled with yesterday's. Tonight, I did water aerobics (with interval training running in the pool) followed by a 800yd. swim and a 30 min. water running session. Yeah, I'm tired and sore. Good thing I'm entering my off days! I'm starting to see progress. In my running, in the swims (even without fins), even in my shoulder sprain recovery! Let's hope the trend continues. Like Janet Jackson says, What have you done for me lately? How's the running coming gang? Riley |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge My only ever half mary was in spring of 09 and was 1:52:53. My 30k trail run a year ago was at a 9:28 ish pace. I am really happy to be seeing the gains over the past year and a half. It has just been steady running of 100 miles a month building to 140 a month prior to my first marathon in January 09. My long run pace 3 months ago was 9:00 pace and hopefully I can hold an 8:00 pace for this Saturday's 13 mile run. It is all just coming together. These challenges help a lot to stay motivated. |

Pro 4353 Wallingford, PA | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge Yes, I definitely credit increased volume and frequency with the gains I'm (finally!) beginning to see with my running... I've been running 25 - 30 mpw pretty consistently for several months now, and it's beginning to pay off - without even doing much in the way of speedwork (I'm really just beginning to add speedwork back in in the past couple of weeks). Go figure! Running more makes you run faster! |

Interesting that quite a few of see the same thing of decrease in pace at about same mileage. |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge crews - 2009-10-08 4:11 PM I plan on getting a bit of running in this weekend to get all caught up. I've been in MSP this week and now it's supposed to rain here for the next 2 days On a very happy note...I'm going to see Mamma Mia tonight!!! I was in MSP when my mom was having medical issues prior to my IM, and I did some runs around the lakes and it was great place to run. I did a 3 hour run and it was incredible...loved it! It made me want to sign up for the Twin Cities Mary. Hope you can squeeze some running in. |

Yah, frame pump o rama, C02 is fine for racing, but I like the dependability of f.p. for the long haul training. Saddle is Adamo Race. Back to running tomorrow after a lovely swim today! k losta - 2009-10-09 6:07 PM Is that is a big pump you have on that nice Cervelo, have you heard of CO2? What saddle is that?
