Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Please have the spreadsheet updated with your progress by Sunday morning. I'll give everyone the Current Team Standings by Sunday afternoon. I'm helping Dee out this weekend and doing the team updates, which will happen Sunday afternoon. If it's not in the spreadsheet, it won't count for your totals this week. Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, etc. |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge van_paulus - 2009-11-13 11:25 AM An hour bike ride with two flat tires ,one (torn in the front) before i set off and the second one (staple in the rear) , Last night did a quick run and gym bike last night before the gym . Temp 45-50F . I used my new tights for the bike this morning and they were so comfy .. I was not afraid to ride fast on the downhills ... Have a good weekend tomorrow , i have probably a run or two on tap as well as a hockey game with some friends.. Funny how just a thin layer of Lycra makes you feel more comfortable at speed I get the same sensation, then inevitably I crash. Couple races back, I had 4 flat tires. I was so done, but the only thing that kept me going were three little letters - DNF. |

Veteran 294 Germantown, WI | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Actually felt like doing something after the successful meeting this morning. Funny how stress makes you want to shut down...need to deal better with that and just push myself out the door. I always feel better after a run. Did a very easy 4 miles with my wife. We talked almost the whole time. That was great! We'll run again tomorrow morning and then do a long run of around 10-12 miles on Sunday. Need to do a few strength sessions in a row here to catch up on that. |

Total of 6.04 miles. Off to a big mall a little over an hour north of our house. Full day of browsing for great deals and mall food court food! Mrs. Field's Cookies!!! |

Expert 1104 Canada | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Hey Team, seems as everyone is doing well. I am continuing to work toward my goal. The spreadsheet looks good. Most are on track.A few are a little behind, but only half way there. What you have all been waiting for...Report on the Anti Monkey Butt Powder!Used it for Long run last sunday & then Spin class yesterday (with Brick) & Longer Spin today with mini brick. It definitely helps a lot. Not perfect but 80% better than last week! My very smart wife thnks the trouble is that Spin class is in enclosed room & hence sweating+++. This with a LeMond bike that can't really fit a 6'4" frame makes for trouble. The powder probably has most of its action but absorbing sweat & hence less wet chamois! Also has calamine which may soothe?? Anyway, will definitely will use for spin. Never really needed on my outside bike, as it fit better & ventilation.Anyway, my report that only a triathlete would understand!!!Keep going folks, the $1,000,000 ids ours!!!! |

I switched jobs in Jan because my old job was killing me with stress. 70 hour weeks, 1 day weekends if that. I think I managed to take 3 vacation days the last year I was there. New job is the complete opposite. Running does help though. I find that when I get to the point I'm pushing myself all the things stressing me get pushed from my head. All I can think about is the pain in my legs . |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Make sure you do some run walk to rehab those calves. Ice, stretch, pleanty of walk, low intensity. Yes work stress is definately not so much fun. I went back to graduate school to get another degree so I could get out of the work hours I had. At the clinic I would work 8 hours, be oncall for 16 and then work another 8 hours. Sometimes the oncall meant working the straight 32 hours and on weekends it sometimes was longer. Once at the end of a constant 48 hour shift the ER doc askied if I was going to tell my boss tha the had to relieve me or if he was. . This year I did not go for a promotion because it would mean longer hours, 4 weeks less vacation time and then working 1 extra day each week. It would be more money, but many more headaches and a big hit to quality of life. I took a pass. I enjoy burning off stress with a high intensity or long run, or both. It is great that your wives run so much. After 2 years my wife is just starting to get into running. She is at about an 11 mpm pace and can go 3-4 miles now. Our scheduals don't work out very often, but it is nice when they do. |

Expert 1157 Tremonton, Utah | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Great jobs, everyone. I'm feeling really excited today. Did my 9 miler this morning, and it was great. Pace wasn't near what I used to be able to do it in, but I did get it done better than I expected. I was hoping to make 10:30-10:40 pace for the entire 9 miles, but I blew that out of the water at 10:19's!! Whoo Hoo. I'm definately rebuilding. Last time I ran this far was on July 20, 2006. So it's been a day or a thousand since I did it. Reading my blog that morning, I was complaining that I only was able to hold 8:32's over 10 miles. I'm hoping to get back to that pace again, but it's gonna be a while. I'm not complaining though. My average pace has dropped 30-40 seconds a mile over a wide range of distances in the past couple of months, so I'm pleased. Guess it's time to hit speedwork again.

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Grats on the 9, pace will come back, not too much speed work per week 8). Brr 34F on the bike is worse than 34 F on the run. I guess maybe I should have dug out the neopreme booties, or maybe some leg warmers or perhapse some insolated or windproof gloves. That headwind numbed out my hands and feet really quickly, ears well they were cold in the first mile. |
