Ran/biked, drank lots of water and ate lots of fruits and veggies. Today I shall try for the same, sans chocolate You can do it! |

Master 1623 | Subject: RE: January Training and Nutrition Challenge Ugh I don't feel like doing anything!!! Spent all day taking down Christmas stuff and then shopping for a business suit since I don't have anything in my wardrobe that qualifies as business formal and have way too many things to go to this semester in which the dress code is business formal. Of course found nothing at all so now I need to go somewhere else to look. I'm off to hop on the bike not sure I'm mentally prepared for today's workout so we'll see how this goes. |

They've issued a red warning day for the air quality and cautioned against exercising outside for the next couple of days. Plus I'm tired from too many late nights recently and discouraged from all the stuff I have to do, most have to do with our cars/trucks. We have four cars/trucks for three people and they all have problems. One car has an engine problem and doesn't work at all but should be going again soon. The newest car developed an electrical problem somewhere that is draining the battery (battery good and alternator charging but something is draining power). My truck just decided that it wasn't going to let me shift on my way home today and the ABS quit working on my son's truck which makes driving in the snow a little more interesting. And with all these troubles with vehicles I don't dare go spend the money I saved for my bike. OK, pity party over. At least I'm not sick and I also have a job that allows me to work from home when I need to so I can survive without my truck for a couple days. That really does all suck Might it be time to trade one in for a newer, more reliable vehicle...? Also, whats up with the air quality warning? Ive never come across that before....just curious. We live in a valley with mountains on three sides so all the pollution gets trapped in the valley instead of moving along with the jet stream. If we don't get regular storms coming through to clean out the air it can get pretty gross. |

Expert 1246 West Grove, PA | Subject: RE: January Training and Nutrition Challenge Hello all! The intent was to get up this morning and hit the trainer, but my wife came down with the stomach flu (she's the last one in the family to fall!). So I had to get the kiddies off to school. But I managed to get over to the gym this afternoon and get a 30 min ride in (plus 10 min of core work). So I'm happy. Today's lunch will have to be classified as junk food. Mexican Restaurant... so bad, but OH SO GOOOOOD! I've been doing good on the water, but need to get more fruits and veggies. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: January Training and Nutrition Challenge Last night ended ok. With all the stuff going on I decided to get away for a break and went running for a while. I felt much better when I got back. I put a charger on the battery so we could at least get around. The radio has been a problem lately and we think it is causing the battery to lose its charge (stupid radio won't shut off sometimes). I took the fuse out for the radio and I'm hoping that will stop the power drain until we can get it fixed. I'm going to make some phone calls on my truck to get it fixed. I'm considering selling it as soon as it is in a sellable condition. I also need to get my son's brakes working before he heads back to school. It's going to be a busy couple of days. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: January Training and Nutrition Challenge Nutrition going good today. So far no junk food, sugar or soda, plus I brought some apples to snack on. I'm also starting to log my meals because I don't think I'm getting my fruits and veggies logged like I should. Not sure when I will be able to get a workout in. I have to leave early to go oversee some basketball games tonight. The last one starts at 9:30 so it will be late when I get home so no running at the speedskating oval or the gym and the air is still pretty bad outside. |

My tolerance for running in pouring rain has pretty much disappeared. In the UK I used to go whatever the weather but I have turned into a complete sook living in the sunshine state of Queensland. Be fair on yourself though, it's been basically raining for 3 months straight where you are It really has! Thank goodness I don't live in any of the flooded areas! Also thank goodness we got away to Perth over Christmas for a lovely rain free week I used to live in some of those areas and survived 15 floods during the time I was there (each time saw us isolated to the property for around 3 weeks), however it was part of life and you learned to live with it. This time around however, I don't think I've ever heard my friends still living there be so concerned about it. They really think the rain and floodwater just won't stop Can't even imaging living a place with flooding like that. I hope it all ends soon. |

I should go do something to pull back ahead but I am tired today..... Never forget that I live in the future too so I will finish my month before you, giving you a catch up chance.... Anyway, don't worry, I am off for the weekend this afternoon, we have a wedding and are staying in the sunshine coast hinterland for 2 nights. So....no pool, no gym, no bike (I hear the lanes are full of manic drivers so I don't fancy chancing it, plus its still bucketing down), runners only, and I will have next to no will power as its a social weekend. You will be way ahead of me by Monday! |

Poor kid. You're so mean Bill. You're supposed to keep things like this to yourself. Glad you're feeling better today. |

Master 1346 Gold Coast | Subject: RE: January Training and Nutrition Challenge I am counting myself as very lucky these days as I live far enough South in Queensland to be uneffected by the floods. However, I am still being subjected to ridiculous amounts of rain and last night on my way home from work I had to brake for a car and my bike kept sliding I have scrapes on my ankle and knee, a massive bruise on my hip and a nasty graze where the skin came off on my elbow. The car stopped, bless them, to check I was ok, so I grinned (trying to cover my hurt pride) and waved at them then got going. The most annoying thing is that it wasn't even on my road bike, it was my mountain bike with its huge grippy tyres - a good lesson in just how careful you have to be when riding in the rain I guess! |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: January Training and Nutrition Challenge AbbieR - 2011-01-06 9:05 AM I'm doing pretty well on fruits/veggies and avoiding sugar. My downfall....2 pints of beer and a bag of peanuts as my recovery meal/dinner after a 90-minute CompuTrainer class on Tuesday! I still need to work on my water consumption. The alcohol isn't a problem but the nuts and chocolate covered raisins aren't doing me any good. |
