rnihill - 2011-04-18 11:04 PM Well, a stoopid meeting came up and never did get to run in the sun...  But I did get on the dreadmill.
I had a stoopid meeting today, too. Really, really stoopid. 3 1/2 hours of sheer stoopidity. Do you feel my joy? Bleh. I shoulda just tasered 'em all. Maybe I'll taser 'em all tomorrow anyway, just for putting me through the stoopid-stuff.

They won't give me a taser. This is why. I will taser all.

Oh bad weather and taser toppage! Nice.  ;-)

I'm cranky. What a friggin' day. Today was one one of those days where I considered walking out of my job - but then remembered that the police service really is my career, it's my life in a way, I don't want to work anywhere else ... so what if I'm in a terrible section at the moment, I'll be transferred or seconded or apply for something else soon/eventually. I have to work for another 25-ish years, so I may as well stick it out.

On that note - a REALLY good job opened up today in another district, and it would be PERFECT. It is exactly what I have been dreaming of all these months ...
ONLY - they require a specific degree, and I do not have it. I have education, but not the right education. I have some feelers out, and hopefully I'll get unofficial word that they will take direct experience instead (they'd barely have to train me!) ... but ... we'll see. This one might be tricky, as I believe the union will be pretty cut and dry on the education aspect.

Cross your fingers for me, Crushers! (not only would I die happy doing this job, it's an extreme raise in pay!).

I skipped my planned bike workout today. Too cranky. This is why I schedule 3 every week - so I can skip one when I'm tired and cranky yet still get 2 solid sessions in. See - I'm smrt like that. Laughing

QueenZipp - 2011-04-19 8:00 PM We took my older daughter to look at a college today.  The one I thought we would not like turned out to be really nice, I think it's become her first choice now.

Yeah sometimes you can't tell if you'll like a school until you visit it and get a feel for it!  Hopefully it all works out for her Smile

So I rode my bike in the rain tonight, and met up with some friends in the evening for some drinks.  As we were about to pay and leave, we looked outside and it was thundering and SLEETING Frown  We ended up ordering another round of drinks hoping the rain & sleet/ice would go away.  But it didn't!  Luckily my friend works nearby, so I just left my bike in his office and we all took a cab home.  But now I have to go over there sometime to pick up my bike!  I had a great time hanging out with friends, but part of me wishes I had just went swimming after all!!

Boo for the weather!  It's April; where's SPRING!?!?

Adapted Mike's ridiculous intervals to something more reasonable, walked 2 min to start then 2 min jog to 15 sec walk.....couple walk breaks went 30 seconds cause of the hills.  So far so good.

Rasoul tortured me today, over 200 crunches on the ab bench!  If that wasn't enough, on each round of squats and chest press he added more weight!!

Not so sure what's up with James.  He was very adamant about not getting a puppy until we move in together and yesterday he finds a girl online who has puppies ready to go home in May.  He told me to email her and "we'll see".  I have no idea what this means but I think the puppies were born on the day we got engaged which is clearly a sign one needs to come home with us

Other puppy news:  Roomie's puppy Calle came home yesterday.  She's such a little energetic furball and absolutely adorable.  I pretty much played with her all night last night.

Nonpuppy news: Rock climbing final was today... Basically just had to prove we could tie ourselves to the harness, belay properly, and catch someone who was falling.  Spent the rest of the class climbing and bouldering.  They changed up one of the boulder routes a little so I wanted to test it out.  I got to the last handhold, barely put my hand on it and down I went.  I was focusing too much on my hands to notice my feet were slipping.  My feet were probably about 6 ft off the ground when I fell so it was a bit scary but luckily I had the pad underneath me and didn't get hurt.  It was more frustrating than anything as I just wanted to finish the route and I've never fallen before.

If that becomes the sticking point, can you negotiate the education? What if you ask about working towards the degree over a period of time?
