owl_girl - 2011-06-21 4:18 PM I ran in my new shoes today on the tready.  They SUCK!!!!  I have been running in Mizuno Wave Riders forever.  I love them!  The new model (14) is much different than the previous models.  It's narrower and heavier.  My toes fell asleep and the side of my foot was (and still is) killing me.  Why do shoe companies change the design of shoes so much!?  Ugh!  Does anyone have any recommendations for shoes with a wide toe box?

I have wider feet......LOVE Brooks.....currently wear the Trance.  Have also done Adrenalines.  Prefer Trance so far  even with my limited running these days

I have a very neutral stride and don't do well with squishy shoes.  How are Brooks in these areas?

Oh the days when I didn't run... I would choose shoes based on how they looked.

Emmanem - 2011-06-21 1:52 PM Well I have to share the good news... I got a job!!!  I start next month with training and then officially begin working the end of the month as an op tech for a new eye care center.  Not very related to my major but the job I really really wanted after interviewing for it.  I think I'm really going to enjoy every second of it

Awesome!  Congratulations!!

Hehehe, me too!  In fact, I was hesitant to buy my Adidas (recommended after finally going to the LRS) a few years ago because I didn't like the color.  Fortunately for me feet, I got over that.  Wink

x 2 on the awesome news

Don't worry about the major versus job bit - my first job after getting degree in ag science majoring in intensive animal production was growing cotton.  You'll probably learn more on the job than you ever did in the classrom

Brooks are not a "squishy" shoe.

Well, I wanted to ride longer.....but managed to get an hour in.  THe road was blocked for an accident.  Figured 2 police cars and tow trucks meant a bike shouldn't go through.  Could have gone around another way but by the time I was close enough to the intersection to see I could take a left (without stopping) I was already way in the right lane.....I have less than an hour to my goal anyway.

105%... I don't know how to make the spreadsheet not give any more than 105 but I'll change any totals above that when it's time for the final standings at the end of the month.

Hope you don't mind, but I took care of that.

Not at all!! Thanks so much!!

Mizuno has a wide toe box.

I know!  That's why I loved my Mizunos!  The new model of the shoe is super narrow though.  Are there any other models of Mizunos that I should try?  I like shoes that are "hard".  I don't like much cushioning.  My arch is normal and my stride is neutral.  I don't over pronate or supinate or anything.  My only issue is my wide forefoot and narrow heel.  That combo makes finding shoes difficult.

On a good note....I called the shop where I got the shoes and said that I HATE my new shoes.  He said "no problem, just bring them back in." Smile

Okay, I must have been having a moment.  I didn't even see that you were already running in Mizunos.  I used to have a pair of Mizuno Wave Alchemy 8 that I liked.  I'm currently running in Addidas which I feel has a comparable fit.

Have you tried to get the older, Mizuno model on Ebay?  If you can find it, you might be able to get a couple of pairs.

OK run team...  I logged in an easy mile today but don't want to push it.  I promise 3.1 on Saturday assuming the race doesn't get washed away!  I won't be able to log it all in until Monday though...  we're supposed to camp for the rest of the weekend after the race.  Again, assuming the campground doesn't get washed away...  I need the rain to stop!

Oh, you cyclists - not a chance you will win. You will have to get past me first! I'm also just over 100% - very happy with that seeing as I initially hoped to be marathon training for this month but I have managed my goal with the tail end of an injury and half marathon training only
