My current bottle and computer placement:

I used to find that having the computer on the stem was too far back for me to be able to read comfortably.

Didn't notice my utter image fail! Here it is again:

Had my first run in a long time today. Was pretty nervous to see how well my lungs would respond. Managed to go 4 miles and feel pretty good about it. In a rush of euphoria I figured I might as well do my first swim since IMWI 4 months ago. 400 meters, no that was not the warm up. Anyway, things went well enough that I am excited to start training again.

Fred D - 2012-01-07 9:46 AM I had a strong trainer ride with lots of good quality time at higherower zones. What is everyone else doing today?

Today was a very early wake up and half marathon spectating.  My partner ran her first today.  Trying to convince myself to go swim but another nap is more appealing.

. How'd she do?

She did pretty good.  I think she got the bug...which is good for me.  For sure if anyone wants to do the Disney races make sure you do a race with a qualifying time before hand.  She got stuck in the last start zone and got stuck dealing with a lot of walkers.  I start in B tomorrow so I should have a completely different experience I think.  The course looks packed from start to end.

Tonight I am hoping for a good trainer ride. Either Sufferfest or one of Jorge's weekly w.outs. I fell of the wagon this week with the workouts. I need to get back on the swing of things. Lately I've been hitting the snooze to many times and getting up to do it, is just not there!....

According to my training plan, I don't start until the last week in January so I have a little of slack time until all hell brakes lose.

Tomorrow will definitely be a group ride in the am.

Thanks, everyone, for the hydration feedback...looks like there are several sufficient options...I'll use the info to come up with a setup that works for me.

Today I wanted to get outside for a long ride, but the fog was pretty dense until late morning and Nik woke up with some congestion...hoping we can get it in tomorrow before the rain rolls in.

Not sure what I'll end up doing today...probably something lightly active so I can be fresh going into next week. Have done all my chores for the weekend...so at least the rest of the weekend is mine.

My GF walked her first 5K post foot surgery today. She was super excited excited about that and had very little swelling and no soreness. I will be taking the dog out for a 3 mi run here shortly as to not waste another beautiful AZ day. (You don't want to know

On anoter note, What kind of recovery times have some of you IM finishers experienced? I think I am still experiencing fatigue or somthing from IMAZ in Nov. My 4mi runs feel like 10 or 15mi and some of the pains I had after AZ seem to be still lingering. I was going to do a half mary the end of Jan but the runs feel so slow and and I feel so sore and fatigued during and after the runs I'm thinking of putting that on hold. Does this amount of recovery seem abnormal or no? I know so many factors go into this equation but just generally speaking.

Thanks for the insight Fred. I believe it was wishful thinking on my part that I could start training in earnest mid Dec for a run at a Half Mary PR. I may stll run but expectations will be different.

As for gps watches I love my 305. Which quit working right after AZ. I would love to have the 910 but by putting the 305 in the swim cap for OWS I can't really see a need to upgrade for me. I will probably just find a nice deal on a 305 as I have my eyes on some race wheels this year.  I believe you ride with power though, so that might be a reason to upgrade. If you needed a lap watch for pool swims that would be another. http://www.dcrainmaker.com/p/product-reviews.html. I am sure you have seen this site. It don't get any better for running gps reviews in my opinion

Fred D - 2012-01-07 2:14 PM Ok, Antone have any thoughts on gps and hr watches fo running? My 305 is 5 years old now and I need a new one. Tink the 910xt will be worth it? What do you use?

I ordered the 910.  I am hoping the waterproofing helps it last longer.  I think half of the 305 issue is that they get the seal compromised and sweat gets in there.  I love the 305 so don't see how I can't love the 910.  I was already on the market for a swim watch cause I count worth crap.

I had the 305 and upgraded to the 310Xt https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=142&pID=27335Iam really happy with it. It is water proof power, great for swimming and biking.

Fred D - 2012-01-06 5:12 PMRecovery from IM? Depends on fitness and base and the individual, however my last IM took about 3 months to recover from. Prior IMs took me more like a month to recover from, as in 2010 I did IMLP in late July and in mid September I was able to have a really good race at the HIM distance. This year the recovery took much longer, but there were many factors behind that and frankly I was not surprised that it took so long.
FredD -Recovery from IM? Depends on fitness and base and the individual- [\qoute] I am with you on this one Fred- Everyone recovers differently. After 2010 IM I took my time getting back to training and I did not run after two months. I only did easy swims and very easy biking. I didn't want any injuries to creep up. After Louisville this year I felt pretty good after a few weeks and was ready to go at it hard again by October (2months).It is interesting to see how some athletes are struggling to hobble around and simple menial tasks as sitting on a chair, standing up from one, walking up or down a step, bending down to pet your dog could be painful for a few days. Then there are those athletes who will go for a quick run the morning after an IM and might also be racing the following weekend. I can't say my age has something to do with it but I am sure the odds say it does. No workout for me today. I got home and was really not in the mood to hump it down to the pain cave. Tomorrow wii be a better day!Thomas

I finished 3rd Overall at the trail half marathon...my first overall podium so pretty happy about that.  The course was on mountain bike trails and extremely hilly and technical with lots of twists, turns, rocks, roots...all the stuff that makes trail running so awesome!   I had a blast.

My legs felt really fresh (taper fresh) in the early miles as I was climbing really well..then came a long climb at miles 10-11 and the residual fatigue caught up to me...the mind wanted to go faster..but the legs were screaming at me to shut it down...luckily the last 1.5 miles were a net downhill where I was able to recover and actually would have caught the second place guy if I had a quarter mile of runway left...missed second by about 5-10 seconds.

My legs are still screaming at me this morning...resting up today .
