Haven't checked in for a while. I hope everyone is enjoying a nice summer of training. Been a bit warm here in SoCo (100 degrees) so I haven't been too keen to get out for much riding or running unless it's early, early in the morning. A few good swims here and there. I'll be heading north to the triathlon Mecca of Boulder, CO next weekend for a sprint tri. It will be my third race this year.

Trying to get back to previous swim levels; no success in getting in any rides due to the crazy schedule here; there's an event on 8/13 (sprint) that I'm considering but have to get back on the bike! Bike training is gonna have to wait til after our trip.

I hear ya 'bout the bike Bill. That's been the hardest for me this year too. It isn't so bad once I get out there, it's just such a time commitment compared to Swimming or Running or finding something else to do!

Had an interesting race yesterday.

1) Forgot my Garmin and did the whole race with no idea about time, pace, etc.
2) The swim was less than stellar. Need to work more on swimming straight
3) Had a great bike time and felt dominant the whole way.
4) Small race and only 8 in my AG, but I got 3rd. It was fun to stand on the podium!

Hope everyone is enjoying their racing season!

Nice work on your Tri Ted! That is exciting that you did better than you thought. Especially without your garmin.

Training is going alright for me. A few good workouts. This weekend's race was cancelled due to low registration. Thinking about a self-supported on in the a.m. tomorrow just for fun.

Bill,

Hope you can get that Sprint done. My last one was canceled due to low registration. Kind of funny considering it was in Colorado Springs which is the HQ for USAT. I have another race scheduled in Boulder for the end of August which will be my swan song for the season. I was in Boulder last weekend watching my brother compete in the Ironman. Long day but he finished in about 14:20! Super proud of him. I'm aiming for at least on Half IM next year along with a Marathon and maybe a century ride.

Hope everyone is enjoying the remaining days of summer. Don't forget to post! Would love to hear how everyone's doing!

Yeah, I've had a tough time getting outside on a bike this year. There's just so much time involved to get everything ready. Hoping to get some weekend rides in this fall. Went to the club pool on Thursday evening and was the only one there! For fun, I decided to swim the perimeter of the pool instead of doing laps. Made for a pretty good OWS simulation with a lot of practice with turns. 30 minutes with no stops. I highly recommend it. I've also been going to Yoga class one night a week. It's actually on the rooftop deck of a local brewery. $8 gets you the class plus a beer afterwards. Way out of my wheelhouse, but I've been having a good time.

That's great Bill. Hope you'll get a chance to do that Sprint next month. I'm back up to Boulder on Saturday for my final sprint race of the year. Have decided to just go and enjoy competing. I placed third in my AG last time, but haven't been putting in the training as much since starting back to work.

Finished up my season this weekend in Boulder. Here's how it went down:
800 swim: 16:31
T1: 1:40
17.1 bike: 53:26
T2: 2:00
5k Run: 25:??

Total 1:39:??

15th in AG and 89th overall out of about 520 folks.

Not my fastest, but felt good about the race overall. Guessing I'll go back to some longer stuff next season.

Cheers!

Hello everyone,
It has been awhile. I have been running and cycling but more at maintaince levels. It has been a hot summer full of life and not much training.
I have a new job and I am now in the world of training around a full work schedule. I haven't done anything in 2 weeks and I am starting to creak a bit around the edges. With that I am getting back into the saddle. I need to cycle 3 days a week plus get in 2 weight days. I have 2 events in October that I want to be better at than last year. One is 15 miles but up a mountain and the other is distance. I haven't decided how far yet. Right now I just need to get moving.
I hope everyone is having a good summer and getting back on track of you had a summer like mine.
