Sarah has her 1/2 mary (her third? this year!) I have a 4 miler on Saturday too, other than that, I need to log an 8 mile run at some point this week. I hope you all will be sending me your "mojo" and even a few prayers. I'm doing it by myself, because Randy of course will be working. I'll probably be cranking the ipod pretty good..... |

I have been trying really hard to increase my minutes since this will be it, and WE HAVE TO WIN!!! Mary, my total for last week should be 780 minutes. I had 165 on the 21 instead of 145, not that it really makes that big of a difference, but I figure every little bit counts! Way to go everyone!! -Becky |

Regular 93 | Subject: RE: marymosc13's group THE V.A.M.P.S., FULL So sorry to hear about your leg! Injuries really do stink! I hope it gets better soon for you. I think the advice from the marathoner you met sounds pretty smart. I've got tentonitis so I've done a lot of reading about sports related injuries lately, and icing (not the kind you put on cakes, although that could be fun) and anti-inflamm. seem like they are the best thing. I don't think you have to stop training though. I've read quite a few articles that it is actually good for you to still get some exercise because it will increase blood flow which helps your injury heal faster. I've actually talked to a neighbor who is a Physical Therapist too, and he has been studying the same thing. He really thinks the light exercise will help MUCHO! So, don't worry, you should be able to keep up your training, just take it a little easy for a while! Just think of it as an early taper! Mostly, I'm sorry you missed your race. That's always frustrating, especially when you've been looking forward to it for so long! Don't worry! It'll get better! Have a wonderful weekend, and enjoy some hot chocolate in your warm house out of the icy cold!! |

Member 32 | Subject: RE: marymosc13's group THE V.A.M.P.S., FULL Hi Girls, I'm back again. Sorry about your leg Mary. Hope it feels better soon. I had to fly interstate for the weekend. I managed to squeeze in a walk on Sunday, tho'. I have been flat out the last few days and I have only just logged my minutes. Great news!!! I just picked up my brand-new road bike. I am so excited. I ordered it last week. I decided to get a road bike after reading the gear forums. I am simply not ready for a tri-bike just yet and I needed something lighter than my old clunky touring bike. They didn't have the shoes in my size, but are ordering them in for me today. I m getting a pair of Shimano tri-shoes. Kewl. Today is the last day of the month for me. I seem to have the least amount of minutes. Sorry. I don't know how you girls all did it. Well done to you all, and to Carol's group, too. No matter who wins or loses, we are all winners for pushing ourselves and being healthier for it. I am also going to change my training program. I didn't follow my plan very much this month due to the challenge, so now I will switch to a 16 week plan and choose the week that matches closest to the times I have been doing. That's it for now. Have a great last day of February. Michele |

Veteran 242 | Subject: RE: marymosc13's group THE V.A.M.P.S., FULL Hi Girls, Well we're back from our trip up north. I had such a nice time with my sister although the weather was tough while we were there. I ended up with a nasty stomach virus on the trip home, but I think I'm on the mend now. I honestly haven't been that sick since I was a teenager, yuck! Anyway, my minutes weren't great this week as a result of travel and sickness, sorry! Tomorrow I'm leaving to go on my very first business trip ever. We're leaving at 6 am and I'll be back on Friday. Mary is there another challenge for March? K.Lynne |

Mary is there another challenge for March? K.Lynne i haven't really thought about a challenge for March, maybe an inter-mentor group challenge, VAMP against VAMP? i really don't know. I need to get back into the swim of things (especially since I'm taking it easy w/running for a bit) maybe a swim challenge - what do y'all think? i think a minutes based swim challenge might be a good idea. i'm up for suggestions. or I'll look in the challenge forum to see if there's one we could copy and make our own. |

Regular 93 | Subject: RE: marymosc13's group THE V.A.M.P.S., FULL HELLO VAMPS!!! Whew! *Sigh of Relief* We finished February! Way to go everyone! You were all AmAzInG!! Thanks for the challenge Mary! It definately gave me an extra boost. I remember in January, I was trying really hard to just get 300 minutes a week because I just didn't feel like I had enough time for more the 30-45 min a day, but when you said your goal was 120 min. 5 days/week, I had to try harder to find the time. It was definately tough, but completely worth it. (It also helped that we were competing with the VAMPS, because I'm a super competitive when it comes to team sports. I want my team to winnnnnn!!) Everyone did so great though! GO VAMPS! I think my total minutes for the month was 3025. I could be wrong though because there's no easy way to count them all! I'm definately up for another challenge too! A swimming challenge would be good for me because I don't have much motivation to get in the pool when it's cold outside. Welcome back Michele, and Congrats to everyone on a super February! Have a great day all! |
