Mila...I concede...for general pop, I agree with you wholeheartedly...I'm not normal...are you gonna git angry at me next time I come to your spin class? Heh... only if you're set up wrong. Trust me, if you had been, I'd have been off my bike and "discussing" it with you . |

I just got around to updating my blog, I've been busy de-cluttering (getting rid of old toys), and then re-cluttering (finding space for new toys). I got some cool running pants for Christmas, so now I can retire the ones I've have for the last 5 yrs. Cool! I did cycle class on Wed. and swam today. I'm starting to feel like I'm "training" again, woohoo. May help if I actually commited to a plan. Heading to cycle class again tomorrow, followed by shopping for a "sexy little dress" to wear for New Year's Eve. Yay! Glad to hear you're getting in some training. I need to do the whole de-clutter/re-clutter thing. Was supposed to happen before Christmas but, ummm, well... not so much. We can help you commit to a plan . Oooohhh... good luck with sexy dress shopping! That's always fun.

Veteran 291 Charlotte, NC | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed okay, here's my idea. With the way my school schedule is looking, I am going to sign up to do a sprint tri on Aug. 23. Before that, I am planning on doing a running series: 5k's mostly, and a couple of 10K's and a 1/2 mary in the winter. I thought I'd do the 20 week 2x balanced Sprint training plan (just working on base and volume). Then do the 12 week 2x balanced Sprint plan (one that includes detailed workouts) to prepare specifically for the tri. I need to get a VO2 max test scheduled to see where my HR training zones are (probably mid Jan.). Any thoughts? |

It sounds reasonable to me... you will build up the running base via the sprint plans, though when time permits you may opt for an additional run if you feel like you need it, and the time required to train should be doable with your schedule. You'll have plenty of time to ramp up the running a little bit before the half mary.

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Ack ack ack, the C word ( commitment). You know how to scare a guy off dont you? The neat thing about Tri Chicks or women in spin class is they are either fit or getting fit. So they usually look hawt in those little black dresses, or anything else actually. 17 miles today on the bike. Tried to keep cadence right around 90 no matter what speed I was going. I was surprised at how high my heart rate was, the mid 150's going into the wind and mid 140s coming back. The bike path is mostly flat, maybe 50 elevation change over 8 miles, but a few bridge underpasses. I wonder if a jar of cocoa butter skin cream would substitute for Chamios cream? It was 54 degrees when I rode, and I came back with numb toes. What is up with that? This isn't Minnesota. Long Sleeve Jersey and full fingered gloves, so the rest of me was warm enough. |

LOL... yeah, but GyGy's a girl, she likes that sort of thing! The neat thing about Tri Chicks or women in spin class is they are either fit or getting fit. So they usually look hawt in those little black dresses, or anything else actually. You got it!!! Tri Chicks (and their male counterparts) are hot because, well, they're out their doing their thing and we all appreciate that . I think my relay team's name says it all... It's tough riding into the wind, sometimes more than you realize, and sometimes the gradual elevation is tough to gauge. I sometimes do my Z2 rides on "The Silver Comet Trail". It appears flat when you're riding but there are gradual ascents and descents and if you're not used to it or a novice rider, it will kick your tail if you're not careful. I always give newbies a big lecture before their first ride out there as they tend to lose their mojo coming back in. The road will appear perfectly flat but suddenly your HR will spike up a bit and it gets a lot harder to maintain pace. I wonder if a jar of cocoa butter skin cream would substitute for Chamios cream? Well... it's your arse, not mine . I'm sticking with my original recommendations. Honestly, I don't know but I probably wouldn't do it. Cocoa butter, to me, doesn't seem like something that's a "barrier" product (ummmm... that really doesn't sound good...). I feel like it's more of a moisturizer whereas a product like bag balm or butt paste provides a protective layer between your chamois and your skin. However, by all means, if you think it might work for you, try it out and see how it goes. We want a full report. No pictures, please . It was 54 degrees when I rode, and I came back with numb toes. What is up with that? This isn't Minnesota. Long Sleeve Jersey and full fingered gloves, so the rest of me was warm enough. Cold toes are a common complaint. It's why lots of folks have Toesties, Toe Jammers, etc. Were you wearing wool socks? On an unrelated note, I just saw that Crank Brothers has pink pedals now. Maybe they have for awhile but I just noticed. I like my Speedplays a whole lot better. Nothing says tough like my pink lollipop pedals .

You can either use the run portion of an Oly program, or www.runnersworld.com is a good place to find some 10K programs. Take a look at this one: http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-244-259-1117-0,00.html Longest mileage is 6.5 miles. You'll want to run that distance at least once at talking pace... |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed The tri club has a 32 mile ride scheduled through the canyon. But now high winds are forecast. 30 mile and hour cross winds coming down a narrow canyon road at 35 miles per hour with cars traveling 65 mph is not fun. Last time I was blown out of the bike lane but fortunately no cars were there. Did I mention the broken glass and thumb sized stones in the bike path? And the steel grates for water drainage, with slots just wider than my bike tires? Its weird to be steering straight and have your bike move sideways, just like a sailboat. |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Ok what is Jenga? And what is a Vixen Tiara? How is one tiara different from another? In your world, not real life.. wink. I bought Boudreaux butt paste today. Six dollars for 3 ounce tube at Wal Mart. Not sure how that is for pricing. How do you get the paste off yourself after a ride? My g/f seemed to think some vigorous scrubbing with a course object would be needed. Not just normal shower soaping. Methinks the delicate man parts would not like vigorous scrubbing with rough objects, and I have to imagine female parts would not like it either. There has to be a secret. |

Methinks the delicate man parts would not like vigorous scrubbing with rough objects, and I have to imagine female parts would not like it either. There has to be a secret. You are just so full of questions tonight . 1. I usually have some sort of tiara in my avatar. My standard, which will be back soon, is a pair of pink chucks with a tiara on top. There was a brief tiara hiatus for the pink Xmas tree. A few days ago I dumped the tree and had a tiara that said VIXEN on it. I'll let you draw your own conclusions but if anyone asks the official word is that it was a reindeer reference . Ohhhh... there are many different kinds of tiaras, darlin' . 2. Wal-Mart is the very best place to buy Butt Paste as far as I know. 3. You should be OK just with just regular soaping/showering to get the butt paste off, but if your g/f wants to rub you vigorously who am I to interfere?! You could try some baby oil if you need to (ummm... I mean for the removal of bag balm or butt paste, not the other thing... though I suppose... erm... nevermind). Use a loofah if you must. Just be sure it's not the same loofah you use in your aerobottle .

Expert 1157 Tremonton, Utah | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Thanks MILAMINUTE! And as promised it's going to be a LOVELY 65 degrees here in Dallas today! As requested, here's my bio, such as it is.... (Sparco may correct any errors he sees fit) NAME: Uttriman/Brett As far as training/racing is concerned, 2007 was NOT a good year. I and some buddies started producing triathlon events (I'll NEVER complain about an entry fee again!!!) and so instead of spending my time training, I was working on getting bike racks built, working with venues for permits, plotting courses, looking for volunteers etc, etc, etc. The work goes on and on.... Then I accepted a new position with a company and was requred to move to Texas, so with the races, and the stresses of the move, well, my training went south VERY quickly! (Sold my share of the race company with the move). No races run in 2007 at all. Have a new training buddy now, and I'm trying to get back to TRI'ING! I need the outlet! FAMILY STATUS: 47 year old who's married to a wonderful wife who supports me extremely well! She's been there for me all the way, but threatens to have me committed if I ever decided to do a full Ironman (not currently planning on that -- HIM -- maybe). 4 children, one in college and 3 teenagers at home! Wife actually has become a triathlete as well completing her first tri in 2006! CURRENT TRAINING: Currently recycling my first year triathlon training plan to get the weight off, and get my speed up! Try to work somewhat equally on all three disciplines, although I tend to log a lot of time in the pool, probably because I'm slower than molaassis in December, despite the thousands of yards I put in. I've been accused (rightly so) of being very anal about my pacing, but I've not mastered HR training at all. I am also working very hard to learn to "MANAGE PACE" THIS YEAR'S RACES: I was a wimp and didn't run any races in 2007. 2008 RACES: I’m planning on a couple of sprints in March, possibly going to Minneapolis for the LifeTime Fitness Tri in July and an Olympic toward season end. WEIGHTLOSS: I have the goal of losing the 30 lbs I've put on in the past year, plus another 10. I feel so much better when I'm not as heavy! |

Three blocks per layer of the tower. The object is to successfully remove one block at a time and place it on top of the tower without toppling it over. Don't be so impressed by my skill. My chief competitors are 7 and 9 years old. |
