Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Add another finish line. T-Gator #2 sprint. Did okay, I believe I did better than last year. 25th out of 64 swimmers so I am improving. RR to come later. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Oh the power of a wetsuit! One should never dismiss its use. For my proof I offer my Tri yesterday. It was wetsuit legal (73 degrees) and I was in the minority wearing one. Out of 8 guys in my AG I took first in swimming! Beat the number two guy by a little over one minute. Also, I had the 3rd fastest T1 of the group and that was with me desperately trying to find my timing chip that got stuck to the inside of my wetsuit. Fastest transition time in my AG was 50.4 seconds, mine was 1:25 so I lost 35 seconds (potentially) because of the wetsuit but I beat his swim time by 4 minutes. Moral of the story, unless you can swim 1:20/100m or less for 500m wear a wetsuit if you can! Overall 4th in my AG, not bad Edited by GaryRM 2010-05-17 1:13 PM |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() WOW Gary! You ARE a swimmer!!! I say it's due to your constant practicing your swim skills... yeah the wetsuit helped, but not as much as your practice - WTG!!! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Gary, Just track your mileage on BT. You have all your other distances there. Seems kind of fitting. Sorry to hear about the problem. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Gary, sounds like me at the Gulf Coast Tri, I died and pulled over to the side of the road on the run but no one brought me a can of calories. Now thats funny right there, I don't care who you are!!! Sorry about the truck, I will warn the rest of my buddies with Titans. Haven't heard from you otherwise, how are you stud? |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() John, lol! Gary, dang! Wouldn't expect that from a Nissan.. hope they get it fixed soon! WIll read your RR later today when i have more time, nice story about the wetsuit! I am doing my first oly this summer, and would love to have the wetsuit for that, but, i decided i'm going to get to my ideal weight first and then shell out the money.. so, next summer it is. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Billy - yes that was funny! Gary - not so funny - sorry about your truck... Well, it looks like I'll be signing up for my 2nd Century - I figure I should sign up for my 2nd before I do my first or else I may not sign up for it ![]() So, I'll be doing major bike riding this summer as the Century is in August - BUT, I still want to do Sprint Tri's in September/October/November... I'll be busy this summer ![]() How's this for a schedule - I'm basically keeping my cycling schedule the same and adding 2x swim & 2x run - I know it's not balanced - it'll probably change 15 times til the end of summer: Mon AM: Run PM rest Tues AM swim PM cycle Wed: AM Run PM weights Thurs AM swim PM cycle Fri REST DAY Sat: cycle - long ride Sun: cycle - recovery ride (sometimes add brick run) ETA: My ART Doc says he sees improvement - still no running for me, but hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks I can start on a run/walk program... I did a GREAT hike the other day, and no shin pain - so that's a start ![]() Edited by Cardholic 2010-05-19 11:40 AM |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey all!! Was scheduled to take the afternoon off but will see if that pans out. Hoping to swim and ride this afternoon but the swim is in jeopardy as the pool schedule has changed and with all of the lessons I may not get a lane if I don't swim with the masters class. They start at 11am and can't make that. Ran last night but have lost my running mojo. Almost 3 miles, slow, hot/humid, took the dogs. Ate way too close to the run. Riding and swimming are much more fun these days. |

![]() | ![]() Morning all!!!! Diane sounds like you have a solid plan...you will have fun! Gary, I think we should all get rid of our cars and ride bikes everywhere...it would solve alot of the countrys health problems!!!!LOL Im doing OK. Went to the gym for the first time in 2 weeks yesterday. Felt good. I get the bandages off in 5 days and I can swim again. I hope to be back biking within 2 weeks. I have a HIM July 12...I know I wont be able to run so I am going to "aquabike" and DNF. Thats the plan anyways. Hope you all have a great weekend! |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Mav, might agree with you but rainy days and family trips would be a pain. I get enough of "Are we there yet?" and they aren't even peddaling! Rest day for me and back at it. I need to figure out how to get to the pool more often. Time to start ramping up a bit. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Just got back from a 70 mile bike ride - we climbed mountains with head winds... it got REAL cold up on top of the mountain, so we came back down into the warmer valley - still dealt with winds all day... all told, we climbed over 5700'... tough day! I'm off to take a nap ![]() |

Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Great ride Diane!!! Gary - I said "am I there yet?" for 140.6 miles. Mav - glad to hear you are better and ready to go.... Did 55 miles yesterday in rolling hills and big winds....just over 3 hours....then, long swim today....it felt really good after a while of not swimming much....I was amazed that my mile swim time was within about 2 minutes of my one mile best time....go figure....I just don't swim fast....ride fast or run fast.....I just grind through it..... sTRIve |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Morning, all.... we got robbed yesterday (and before, as it turns out ![]() ![]() I hope everybody's weekend is going well! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Lena, I am sorry about the sorry S.O.B. that would rather take what someone worked hard to buy. I guess it is always easier to take someone else's stuff than work hard yourself. I would have absolutely no problem shooting someone between the eyes for stealing, from me or one of my friends. Call if you need a redneck with plenty of guns, I fit the bill!! Haven't posted in a while because it felt like no one else was, didn't want to bore ya'll. First blow out at speed on the bike and of course, on the front. Used my excellent control skills to avert a major crash. I had just pulled my feet from the shoes to practice dismounting, when all #&!! broke loose. I had just ordered new tires last night so I am only down fro a few days. Looking forward to June 5 at Rock n Rollman HIM in Georgia! |

![]() | ![]() Im here Billy...just not doing much!!!! Glad you are OK...that kind of blow out is scary!!!!! Lena...it just plain sux!!!!! I hope they find the person. I just have this vision of Billy on his bike with a gun...good thing he's not in closer proximity!!!! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ha Ha I'm still laughing Mav! Just picturing Billy on the bike with his gun!! LOL Terrible that you got robbed Lena! Bryan and Diane...great rides!! Another finish line for me! I did the Terre Haute Tri yesterday! My swim was 13 minutes faster than last year! My bike and run were also both improved. When I first started the swim I started thinking...what am I doing? And I think I'm going to do an Ironman?? I can't do this! I think I'll just get a ride in a canoe. Then I just told myself to shut up and swim.... so I did! I'll try to get my race report done in the next couple days. Of course my brother beat me...but one day I'm gonna catch him! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The prodigal Canuck has returned. No, it wasn't because I am holed up in a cave watching the Stanley Cup playoffs (BTW Lena - I'm now cheering for the Blackhawks!!). Just been busy with life and not all that much training to report. Haven't been to the pool in 2 weeks, only done 1 run in that same time but I have been riding. Did a 60k route yesterday (it was a statutory holiday here for Victoria Day). Had an injury last weekend - not while training but while cutting the lawn. Stepped off the curb, turned my ankle and it swelled up like a balloon. Swelling mostly gone now but discoloration remains. Very little pain now - just when I have to twist my foot to unclip from the pedals. I am going to try and read back through emails to catch up on the goings on. My Oly training plan starts on Monday next week so no more excuses!! Edited by FreddyBeachPete 2010-05-25 11:21 AM |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Mav - just read the post about your surgery (had to look up the diagnosis in Wiki) and the bike accident. Girl, you are hard on bike helmets!! Hope you heal fully and quickly. Just found some info about the 2010 Terry Fox run. Because it is the 30th aniversary they are once again closing the Confederation Bridge (13k that links Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick) for the event. https://www.terryfox.org/What_You_Should_Know.html https://www.terryfox.org/index.html I would normally participate but my planned Oly is the day before in Freeport, ME. If any of you are interested to take part let me know and I'll see what I can do to hook you up with accommodations in PEI. |
