Heading off to work in a minute, Trevor's first bike split is up, very fast, averaging 31.88 km/hr!

Go Trevor!

Looks like he's on the run. He had a great bike split and another quick transition. Go Trevor, go!

Tough race for me today, my first DNF. It started out pretty great - finished my swim 12 minutes faster than what I had swum last year. Super psyched! But on the bike I make it to the first turnaround and am heading back (about at mile 9) and I call to a girl in front of me that I'm on her right (you pass on the right in the Chicago Tri), she didn't move over, so I called out again, she didnt move over, so I just decided to go around her. But I got my front wheel caught in a crack in the road, lost control and fell on my right then skidded for a couple of feet. I'm fine, a bit road rashy and bruised, but nothing's broken. I jumped right back up and shook out my arms and legs, nothing was broken, so I thought I could get back on my bike. But then saw that my derailleur and cassette were both in pieces so the bike was busted. I got back to the medi tent and got cleaned up. The medi tent was right next to the finish line so that was sad. I don't care that I don't have a medal or a finishing time, but it was hard to see everyone cross the finish line so happy. I think I'm addicted to that feeling in a race where it sucks so bad, but you  push through and finish  totally spent but so proud of yourself and I didnt get to have that today and that's what hurts the most. But I will get to race again and that's what's important.

Going to spend the next couple of hours watching the Ironmanlive feeds. Go Trevor Go!

that sucks!  glad you're ok.  seems to be a lot more of this type of activity going on as the sport continues to grow.  pretty f'ing lame!

x2. Disappointing, but try to let it go and look ahead to the next race.

Ha! Sitting here with my Convert app on my ipad, trying to put all of these darn km splits into numbers that mean something to me. Tracking Canada is hard work!!

Awesome ride, Trevor! Bring home that run!! One step at a time... Just keep running, just keeping running, just keep running running running... (Sung to the tune of Dory's "Just keep swimming," of course...)

What is the matter with IM Canada?  they have so few splits to track someone!  We need to make it a rule that our MG althletes where the GPS tracker!

BT Schmize (Scott Schmeiser) did IM LOU today--he's one of BP's coaches.  Finished in 10:30 with a smile on his face.  Not sure it is exactly what he was hoping for, but I'm impressed.

Kyla--Darn Bree beat Madisonian Jackie Arndt at IM LOU today.  Grrrr.

Melissa--really sorry to hear about the spill.  I agree with Julia.  Time to get back on the horse for your finish high!

Me 3.  Not a math person.

Can one of you just post the conversions after you get it figured out.  I did ok with the bike times, but these run times are making my head hurt.

Hi gang. Its been a long time since I was able to sit down and try to catch up a bit. Life is very hectic right now. (in a good way mostly.). My transition from the corporate world to being a personal trainer and tri coach has been great.

The poor part is that I haven't been able to do any tri races since the beginning of June. I screwed up my shoulder and at one point couldn't even raise my arm above my shoulder never mind swim, lean on bike handles or swing it running. The doctor figures it was something from an older injury that didn't heal right and I must have done something to aggravate it a lot. It's getting better and I can everything except swim. Kind of hard for a triathlete to swim using only one arm.It did give me lots of time for coaching though

Anyway I have seen a few messages here and it looks like people are once again having great tri seasons. Just goes to prove we are not normal people. We are abnormal and very good at it.

Hope to get one here a little more often but with the university starting up again I don't know if that will happen. It's going to get very busy for me again.

Good luck to all

gotta run - 2012-08-26 12:59 PM Trevor's on the bike with an awesome swim and quick T1. Go Trevor!!!

Trev must have skipped the pedicure in T1 this year Wink

I have a question for the group.  Have you done an IM?  If so, tell us about your first one.

my first here

i'll add this,  they say you never forget you're first.  ha! they got that right.  not a day goes by that i don't think about that race.

Oh John, I was here for your first.  You were the first athlete I ever tracked. I'll never forget it either!!

Thanks for the links to your 1st big dances, Linda and Kyla.  So inspirational to read your stories.

Melissa, glad you are ok.  Thank goodness, because that could have ended so much worse.  You're all in one piece and will race another day very soon.
