Funny story of the day.  Bib #s and waves went up for my Oly on the 30th.  My friend who is doing Oilman with me is in for this too and his wife is one of Cindy's best friends.  Anyway Cindy emails me that "Jess says Jason goes out the wave in front of you at Towne Lake."  My response was something to the effect that it makes things interesting.  Cindy responds with "You better beat him out of the water.  That would be embarrassing."  Very nice.

If you don't beat him out of the water then you'll pass him on the bike.  Run your own race and don't worry about Jason, Scott!!!

She was joking...... kinda.  Really it gives me something to focus on besides the fact I really want out of the water and on to my bike.  The fact all my buddies who swim slightly better than me are going the wave behind me is a good push too.  LOL.

I hear ya.  The swim is becoming my least favorite part of my races.  My OWS performance doesn't reflect the work I do in the pool, and it annoys me!!!!   I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack in the water half the time too.  LOL  I'm always jazzed to get on that bike.

I have been looking all over for a decent Feb./March marathon in Ohio or Chicago (because I have a free place to stay there), and I'm coming up empty handed.  I guess volunteers don't want to stand outside in sub-zero temps.  Races are pretty much nonexistent in the winter months around here.

Any winter marathons in Chicago that come to mind, Carrie?

jarvy01 - 2012-09-13 7:43 AM I am really starting to get crabby due to being so sedentary.  I just keep telling myself that my body needs this.  I've put on a couple lbs. though, and that's makes me irritable.  I may go out for a fun bike ride on Friday.  Mankey has been calling my name from the garage.  Next Monday I'd like to set up my strength training program.  My husband is going to go to the gym with me and make sure I'm doing the exercises properly.  I may take a yoga class this weekend in addition to the bike ride.  Just enough activity to get the blood flowing and feel like I'm an active person.

I've been so content doing yoga, core and some light weights. I did hop on the elliptical yesterday but it was completely a blood flow session. I did a half hour at an average heart rate of 99 to give you an idea of the intensity. The weather here has been amazing though. So I took a half hour walk at lunch and I saw a cyclist and I was like oh man it would be simply awesome to out on the bike right now. Then I came to the edge of this really steep hill where there's a 100 foot gain in less than a quarter of a mile, steep and great for hill training, and another cyclyist was coming up panting and dripping with sweat and I was cured of my impluse to ride. Laughing

That is awesome. I'm at 3556 on the bike and 687 running and thought I would make it to 5000\1000 but both seem unlikely now.

I hope you two were drinking those beers post-race.  Knowing the way you two operate, it was probably pre-race fuel

I like the 99 HR average  I'm heading in the same direction as you next week.  Figured I'd give myself the full week to sleep in and chill, and then I start on the core and weights.  I still might take the bike out for a short ride tomorrow, but it would be a 99 HR average type of ride.   Walked with the kids for a long time last night around the neighborhood, and I didn't feel quite so fat and lazy.

First order of business before this IM is to grow this hair out to ponytail length.  The bob isn't cutting it for triathlons.  Don't cut your hair, ladies!  Keep it long!!!  Lucky for me my hair grows uber fast, so it will be pretty long for IMMT.  Important thing to think about.  LOL

Yes, and it's exactly like Cleveland (we're on one of the Great Lakes, too).  FREEZING!

I'm heading out for a short recovery ride soon.  Like I said before, it's just to get some blood flowing.  Date night tonight and then my in-laws are throwing a house warming party for us tomorrow (they invited 25 people over to our house.....don't get me started on this bizarre "tradition").  Lots of bad food this weekend I'm sure.  I will probably try to jog tomorrow or Sunday.  Monday starts strength training.

Any racers this weekend?

Tried a kickboxing class at the Y this morning to really mix it up. A little disappointing as it was more like an aerobics class than kickboxing. I really didn't need the impact so bailed halfway through. The upside is I used to date an aerobics instructor once upon a time so I have all the rhythm and moves down from regular aerobics and step class. A fellow triathlete joined me for the class and he's never done any of that so I was busting his balls to no end. Dude what's your problem? You're flailing, LOL. I came clean after but enjoyed giving him a hard time.

I'll have to try a real kickboxing class somewhere else. I wanted to hit a bag at least.

I love it when a plan comes together.  Good run today.  Really didn't think it was going to be.  I felt  a little dead this morning when I started, but when I reached back for extra gas it was there.  Felt really good to be running sub 8s at the two hour mark.

I got so tan during my HIM that when I peeled off my temporary race tattoos, the numbers are still highly visible on my skin (just 5 shades lighter than the skin around them).  I get dark and stay dark, so it looks like I'll be #1151 this fall  It will be pretty tonight when I put on my dress for date night.

LOL.  Tan lines from the tri shorts too?  Will be very attractive peeking out from underneath the dress.

So my normal long Sunday ride gets bumped up to tomorrow due to my anniversary.  We're dropping the girls off at Cindy's Aunt's house tomorrow afternoon and heading downtown for a "getaway" weekend.  Nice hotel, nice restaurant, probably a movie, and some quiet time.  Soo looking forward to some nice blackout curtains and a really comfy bed.

I would love a weekend away.  Our anniversary is September 26th but there's no way we're going to be able to do anything.  This weekend Shaun is timing in Massachusetts and I'm slammed with work.  Next weekend I'm RDing a half on Saturday and then there's a 5K on Sunday and the last weekend in Spetember is Poconos.

I'm feeling really good training, but a little burnt out with life.

Life bites.  Too much to do and too little time.  Can I get paid to train???  It would make things much easier.

Oh and one of Cindy's friends asked her when we had time to get pregnant with my training schedule.  LOL.

Shaun got laid off this summer and it was really nice having a personal assistant for a while.

He started a new job this week and I miss having someone to do all of my admin work.
