I have my eye on New Zealand, but training in the Northeast for a March IM would be misery. That's the only thing stopping me. I've heard great things about Western Australia, but have heard it's a pain to get to. I love the idea of a December IM though. Between the three I don't think you can go wrong!

Are there hills in New Zealand?

The 51-day ultra-extended forecast for Lake Placid says partly sunny, 74 degrees.

Where the F are my Powerbar drinks!?

Just got my package of powerbar drinks last night! Tastes like gatorade. They better have better caps on the bottles for the race!

Just got my Ironman Kool-aid, too!!  The FedEx driver was like, "This is some promotion!"  He asked me about it and I told him it was for the *cough, cough* IRONMAN!

godekjames - 2010-06-02 6:01 PM I did 110 mi at LP today, nice wx sunny and 80 degrees. My garmin edge had 5896 total climb, I did the standard loop and added Bonnieview Ave for the out and back, so it was a little short of IM distance. On my second loop, hit 46 mph on Keene hill and it was BADAZZ, no aero, but no braking either. I will still stay out of the way of the good bikers. That was my 3rd time going down the hill, 2 more tries at it before it's back to work. The more I do it, the more "comfortable" it is becoming. Took a dip in the water after my ride, cold but not bad, a few folks were out training in  wetsuits. Good luck out there with training and stay safe.

I'm really hoping that they don't use that as the out and back. I rode it when I was there on my 2nd loop and it kicked my butt.  I'm a terrible hill climber and it was pretty much a full climb all the way out until I turned around.  The Back was not nearly as worth it. I'd much rather do the Ausible forks way, but I'm not sure.

If you are still riding, ride down to the bridge and make those guys go faster on Hazelton!

I'm glad to hear it wasn't just me! I was miserable on Bonneview. I'm a slow hill climber but usually enjoy it but it starts as an annoying 2-4% and then hits much steeper grade as you go along and I agree, the downhill didn't offer enough feeling of recovery.

Jenn, I'll join building the bridge!

Yeah, as I was sailing down the hill at 35mph I was thinking "I should have turned around at the top!" Oh well, whatever will be will be. I'm just going to show up and follow the other riders No one should be scared, this was always a hilly course. It will be fun.

COVERED in bugs.  What a fun weekend that was.

Well that settles it, I'm just going to have to bike Whiteface when I'm up there so that any alternate route seems flat relatively.

DC, so if you got your powerbar drinks I should get mine soon too. I was wondering if they were skipping Long Island or something. Hope I get them by this weekend's long training days!

And my neighbors better not steal them or there will be hell to pay!

Ah yes, but will these new products fit securely in our bottle cages??

I was thinking of starting out riding with one maybe two empty bottle cages in the rear and just fluid in my aero bottle. That way I won't have to pull any extra weight up the climb out of town and maybe I can just put bottle of new Ironman Perform in at each aid station. Sound sane?

So, here's a conundrum.

I won't wear anything IM, only if it 70.3 which I did. Note, I have an IM watch I bought before I got into triathlon and the watch never really counted, but I don't want to drink it if it has a logo on it - yup stupid.  SO, do I just take off the wrapper, or draw in a 70.3 on it?

I'm only partially kidding
