Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

I know I did

Friday 5 mile bike 1 mile run brick to prep for saturday race.

Saturday - 1/2 mile swim 15.9 bike 3 mile run Deruyter Tri

I swam a 14:29

Bike 42:17 for 22.42 mph

Ran 19:56 @ 6:38 pace

Took 1st overall and beat my last years time by over 4 mins.

The race conditions were awful with  15-20 mph sustained winds. Water was super choppy and bike was a 3 loop rectangle so the wind helped and hurt you and for the run it was at our backs on the way out and in our face on the way back.

Finished the race and tacked on anpther 5 miles before the awards ceremony at 8:20 pace.

Woke up at 5:45 on Sunday and headed out for a 20 miler 2:45 @ 8:11 pace

And Hit the rode at 5:30 this morning for a loosen up run 5 miles pace 7:50, Legs felt good

TOMORROW MASSAGE!!!!!

Nice!!!!!

Recovery swim and yoga for me this morning.

I do not want to lap swim right now.  At all.  I have no motivation to do so, and my next triathlon won't be until June.  Please motivate me to jump in the water, people.  What do you tell yourselves when motivation is gone and gains are minimal?  I got nothing.

I got up at 5 today for the first time since Cedar Point.  It didn't feel good.  LOL  I've gotten used to staying up until 11 with a book in my hand and sleeping until 7.  I've been yawning and scratching my eyes all morning.

I wish I had some motivation for you. I haven't swam in 2 weeks and I have no desire to do so. I'm very content with running, biking, and strength right now. I am thinking of paying for the masters class so I will feel like I have to go. The pool is so cold though...

Who are you and what have you done with Jen?!?!?!?!   Tongue out

Take some time away from the water if you want to.  Could go all Endurance Nation and not swim until next year if ya really wanted to.

Rate of return on investment is minimal. Take time away from the pool. I started swimming on December 26th for LP which was July 22 I was very ready for the swim with only 2 swims per week.

Skip it ... I haven't swam in over a month.  Like other said, gain swimming over and over is minimal ... take time and get excited about it again.  Don't force it, it only gets harder.

I also know that I can get my swim back fairly quickly too.  Jen, just enjoy your time off and don't worry so much!

I've been getting up at 5 even after my race but I had been up lots of mornings at 4:15 so it's like sleeping in. I have done one swim worth 500 yards since the race and it was more of a loosen the body up workout. My motivation to get back in the pool is some core work. I'm going to do more work with fins with the hope of making my hips stronger. I'm also going to do more dolphin to help the core. I have no plans to bust my @ss with intervals. I figure if I do some balance drills, core drills, kick drills it'll be enough to keep me current. No hour sessions of intervals.

Wow Jeremy, all I can say is wow!  (And that I'm tired just reading about your weekend.)

Jen - I've got nothing for you either, I would much rather run than swim.  And even paying for masters doesn't get me there often.  Hoping to get a swim in tomorrow, they are having an early swim (5 vs. 5:30) followed by a breakfast to wish a couple of folks well for Augusta this weekend.  I probably ought to show up for that, although I don't know that I'll recognize anyone outside of the pool.

Everyone Thanks  for your kind words. God blessed me with a  good race & training wekeend.

With all this training talk remember training is just that it training.

After a long season take some time off try some new things and set your 2013 goals. Your goals will motivate you to get back after it again. But it is hard to start swimminhg today for a race that is next August. Therefore don't!!

Take this time to notice your weaknesses and then figure out ways to improve them. Then depending on your plan 30 weeks out from IM start tightening up the blinders and become more dialed in.

ENJOY THE JOURNEY the race is just one day!!

I just can't seem to get into yoga ... I last about 15-20 minutes then quit.  Maybe I need to do it in a class setting vs. a DVD?  I get the benefits, but ...

I like the class setting better.  I find it harder to bail when everyone is looking at you as you head for the door.  LOL.  Then it's just finding an instructor you like.

Maybe a health club membership should be on the to do list soon ... They are just so expensive especially when I only really need a pool occasionally and a class here and there.

If you find a yoga studio (not a gym) that has a 6 or 8 week beginner class, that's a really good idea.  Usually the beginner class will have multiple teachers, will go slowly and will make sure you that you learn the correct positions and incorporate breathing into the asanas.  Then if you decide you want to go back to DVDs you'll at least have the correct form and have some idea of what things should feel like.

Feel SO sluggish on off days that normally are training days for me.   Irritable and sluggish.

I went to bed with 7 minutes to go in the MNF game last night.  Apparently I should have watched until the end.

Did a short recovery ride/run this morning, but it felt more like working out vs. training.  I think that's fine for now.  As far as the swimming goes, I'm going to play it by ear and see how I feel.  Thank you all for your different perspectives.

I've spent some time looking at all my race results, and it looks like I literally made 0% improvement on the run this past season, so that's where I need to focus my energy.  My run workouts need to be the most important workouts of my week.  I want to become faster.  That's my goal for the year.  Faster, stronger runner.  If I can't do that after 3 years, then, well.....I am at a loss

This is me.  I've tried to get into yoga, but I'm just not interested.  I know it would help me, but I hate it.  LOL  It's OK not to do yoga if you're not into it.  There are other ways to strengthen and stretch your body.

I would want it more for stretching/flexibility ... I can strengthen in other ways that keep me motivated.

Sometimes the things you hate the most are the things that you really need to do.

I find one of the biggest benefits of yoga is not the stretching but rather taking the time to slow down and stop the constant buzzing.

I'm actually motivated to strength train and work on my core right now, which is really bizarre because I've always avoided these things for some reason.  I know yoga would round out the program perfectly, but I'm just not willing to sacrifice what little free time I have to do something I hate; you know?

This morning I told my husband that I want another baby, and he told me I need to find a new hobby  LMAO
