Goals are good! I need to knock down at least 60 miles of running this month, 20,000 yards in the pool while cutting interval pace by 5 sec per 100. And get on my friggin bike! I tried to ride yesterday on the mtb (tri bike will be here any day now) and I needed to add some stans to my tubeless tires... Couldn't get the bead to re-seat grrrrrrr. Hopefully ill get it sorted today. Feb bike goal will be 12 hours on a bike, mtb or tri. Just need time in the saddle. One hour 3 times a week... SHOULD be doable.

I posted goals for each of the 3 events in my log for Febrary. Most are distance goals and one time goal for the swim. If I can get rid of my sickness and keep motivated I should be good to go.

Goal is to try and get a couple runs on snowshoes each week to get ready for a race the end of the month, but still keep my running up. Might have to wait till next month to encrease the biking. Would like to get 1 swim per week in, don't think I have been in the water since last August.

My main goal for February is to try to get some riding in - at least 1 long (semi-long) outside ride per week.  I also want to get in 3 swims/week and 3-4 runs/week.  In my free time maybe some p90x2.

Ran a 15k followed by a 2000 yd swim this morning. Tomorrow I plan on taking the new bike out for its first real ride.

Happy weekend training everyone!

Hope everyones training is going well! I see some of you get out in the morning and I wish I had the motivation to get my but up early enough to do the same. Off work this week so I should be getting in the training with no problem!

It takes a little while for your body to get used to getting up early and working out, but when my first son was born (almost 17 years ago now) didn't have much choice but to work out in the morning. Then 3 years ago my wife got a lab, so now I have to get up around 4 - 4:15 in the morning to get his workout in too.

I am so used to getting up now that after the kids leave I will still get up early.

Hi, guys! The sprint went very well. Quite happy with my swim. Even with big swells and strong current, I swam confidently. It wasn't easy, but I didn't feel like I couldn't do it. Biking was kind of tough in the strong winds (on a mountain bike!!), but the run always feels comfortable.

Been getting in some good training with the swimming, and biking. Finally picking up the running by doing bricks. Monday was a long swim night, last night and tonight cycling/run nights, tomorrow and Friday run/swim nights. Saturday I'm resting for a GEAR race and soccer game on Sunday.

Good to see you guys still knocking out the training!

Timmay: Great job with learning the flip turns! We just touched on them last week and the few times I got it down, I was flying through the water. I'd love to learn to do them well enough to keep up with the rest of of the swim team during practice, even if it won't do anything for me in open waters. If it helps me get more meters in at each training session, it want to do them!

Have a great evening.

I have a half marathon on Saturday.  It is in a wetlands park which means alligators!  I was at the park this past weekend and counted 16 gators (most within feet of me) just on the roughly 3 mile hike we took.  The keys to this race will be to make sure I am not first or last and to ensure I don't fall!

Sounds like an adventure race, good luck!

Thanks Blanda, it wasn't so much learning the flip turns (I swam competitively growing up) it was just a matter of DOING them! I've been mostly in the pool lately, mtb is still out of commission (long story involving a difficult bead on a tubeless rim) but my new P2 is here! Just did the final fit before they cable it up. Running has been slow. A nagging soreness that seems do be about gone has had me backing off the volume. Shooting for 2500 swim and a 3 mile run this afternoon.

Hey everyone, great job getting out there and training.  I've been squeezing some training in, even with life being very, very hectic right now.  Those of you with grown children, its gets easier, right?  Mine are 3 and 1.5 years old and its been quite the struggle.  Love them to death, but wow... just wow.

My boys are going on 15 & 17. I have gotten faster in my 40's than I was in my 30's, once the boys got older my training time went back up again. Now if I could just get them to run with me.

Decent day of training for me. Got in a run and made it to masters swim this evening. Finally feel like I am nearly over a 3 week sickness. (fingers crossed)

Got 11 miles in Saturday morning, 1F with 14 mph winds. Another short run on Sunday, should have added a bike but got up a little late, can 6:30am on a Sunday be considered late?

Just checking in to see if anyone is using the Vitural Training?

Trying to figure out what to give up for Lent. Last year I gave up soda, I am thinking about doing junk food this year. Just have to figure out what is considered junk food.

Hi, guys! I'm getting pretty close to Xterra race day. I'm not where I was hoping to be fitness wise, but I think I'm doing as well as I can with the schedule I have. Well, I COULD and SHOULD run in the morning, but dang... I suck at waking up early in the morning!

Got some great swimming in last couple weeks. I did my second sprint tri and felt pretty darn good on the swim. Felt confident and no panicking at all. The bike always stinks for me on my mountain bike that feels like pushing a small car, but the run felt tons better. Got a good pace going with long strides instead of the shuffling I did last time due to angry calves.

Hope all is well with your training! I'll get back and read up after spin/run tonight.
