Alright so far we have three plus me for the challenge....we might need to send out a search crew for everyone else, so lets give it a bit more time.

Musclemomma - there is a little color palette on the right side  of the second row for font color

I will figure out my goals tonight.

Hello.. . Sorry for the long absence.. Its been an interesting week for me.  Spent time on thurs/Friday/Sunday doing yard work so I really didn't have any time to do tri-specific training but atleast I was out there working hard.  My hammy is a bit sore but i'm trying to work on back into training thru it.   My 1st triathlon is less than 3 weeks away so i'm trying to put in a strong week/week 1.5 and then taper.  So its hard for me to participate in the challenge this month.. But good luck to all you challengers!!!

On the weight note: the only way i've ever had any luck in losing weight is to consciosly think about what I'm eating. So being careful not to eat rushed or while watching tv.  Try to chew your food 20 times before you swallow.  By slowing down, I am better able to feel when I'm full and don't overeat.  That being said... I started training for a triathlon to lose weight, I weighed 172 and now I weigh 178

John, thanks for putting some thought into a challenge.  I like the idea a great deal.  I find that challenges of this type can be motivating and rewarding.  I have posted my goals on my blog.  I will revisit them and post them later.  I am just getting caught up as I have been traveling for the last few days.  This is good stuff.

Good to be back.  Hope the training is going well for everyone.

Goals for July:

  • Bike:  550 miles
  • Run: 100 miles
  • Weight: 218
  • Swim: 25,000 yards
  • Weights/Core: 3.5 hours

This is what I am hoping to accomplish in July.  These are stretch goals for sure, and I have a race in the mix as well.  We shall see, as I am severely behind the curve already.

I have to confess...I love summer.  But, I have gotten addicted to swimming since it is so hot out...usually about 95 here.  I have totally slacked on the bike and run.  Is the heat affecting anyone else?  Or am I just getting wimpy-er as I get older?!?!

Carla - I fully understand the battle with the heat, I went for a 98 degree run today and melted.

I plan on trying to do some spin classes and treadmill work to counteract the heat....kind of what people in the north do in the winter.

GAT's Sumer Challenge 2008 is on!!!!

I say we start this coming Monday for the next four weeks, this will give a couple more stragglers the chance to join in. (kinaiaha and ctnord???)

Everyone post their weekly totals each monday here in the forum and I will enter them into the spreadsheet and post it for everyone to have.

I have entered most everyone's goal's except:

George I need what you weight goal equals in loss

Carla could you add up your June totals and let me know what they are, and if you have  any weightloss or other goal for the fifth category.

So, in the words of ctnord GAME ON! Start tracking this coming monday with the first report day being on the 21st.

I don't have a prize in mind but am open to suggestions although the self-accomplishment is probably enough. (Unless anyone has enough clout with BT to get something thrown in)

GOOD LUCK!!!

June's totals:

Run:12h 25m 13s  - 74.51 Mi
Swim:6h 36m 27s  - 17360 Yd

Above are my June numbers, however, you can see from what I posted that I am trying to raise the bar a bit this month.  Also, I am currently 224.0.  My weight goal for EOM July is 218.0 (2.68% reduction).  Game on!!!

Sure is awfully quiet now that the challenge is on.  I can only assume that everyone is hitting it hard to get a jump on their goals.  I certainly hope this is the case.  Train well this weekend.

My two year old dumped water on my laptop keyboard and it suffered a slow death the last two days.  I will be on sporatically for a while until I replace it.

I will post spreadsheet monday as it was on that computer but I luckily e-mailed it to my office yesterday.

I work on the computer Mon - Fri, so I don't usually touch one on the weekends.  I did mangage to make a spreadsheet for the husband to see next time he uses the computer.  It'll hopefully remind him how much money he's spending that's not there.  Didn't touch much exercise either this weekend...no motivation.  I did manage to clean the house.  I haven't been motivated to do that in about a month.  I'm normally a little OCD about keeping it spotless.  Not sure what's going on.  Just no motivation.  Sorry for the rant.  Just a crappy Monday morning I guesss.

No problem with the ranting.  You just need to get back at it.  So you took a few days off, no big deal.  Now, what are you going to do this week???

Today, since the humidity is relatively low, I'm going to try to get in a run...hopefully longer than the usual 2 miles.  Tomorrow and Thur. a swim, then bike where ever I can.  Still don't have a way to transport the Specialized with the Mini, so I have to nab my husbands truck.

OK here is the spreadsheet I created......There are 6 signed up but we can always squeeze in a straggler or two.

If everyone posts on mondays I can enter the data and keep a master sheet up to date and if anybody wants they can track on this one as well.

Good Luck on your goals!!!

I had a race yesterday that I felt pretty good about.....my swim time was slow, but I am hearing rumblings that the distance was maybe 200M longer than planned.

Gonna take today off and recover, then back at it tomorrow.
