I am up-to-date in logging my running minutes on the spreadsheet, but I am still behind.  I have finished 26% of my goal, but 32% of the month has elapsed.  Sorry teamies.  I won't let you down.  I will get caught up eventually.  If only time would stand still for a little while.  Actually, I think I might be able to get caught up this weekend (three-day holiday weekend for me) as we are going to visit Chuck's daughter and family and I think we are going to get in a bonus hike.

We actually are looking pretty good overall with only AZ Sunshine (who has been sick) and Revbigdog (what has happened to him?) dragging us down.  But Kate is on the mend and I know her percentage will come roaring up.

Have a great weekend fellow Running Pumpkins.

I had a cycling day today and will do a run later in the day. I am watching IM Kona on my 30" cinema display and working organizing my home office. I find it interesting that neither Chrissie nor Craig wear aero helmets.

I have tried to contact RevBigDog but haven't heard back yet. AZ Sunshine can change her goal due to illness.

2 miles in the books for me today, plus two miles on Thursday puts me at 30.8% of goal...so far so good!

Also, I'm pretty excited because I decided to join a tri team in my area!  I'll be starting up with them in the next couple of weeks so my planned training for the remainder of the month will be a little different than my makeshift running plan.  No worries, though, I'll make sure I hit my challenge goal one way or another!

The spreadsheet's looking pretty solid these days - keep up the good running, fellow pumpkins!

[I did see Running Pumpkin 'mav' at interbike before the race and heard her cheering me on.

Went to the interbike expo and saw kathy G cross racing ( crazy stuff). Managed to get my 3.1 run in too. I need these challenges to keep me running. Go pumpkins. I am at 30% of my goal. Racing a 10K on Mon so a short bike /swim tommorow only.

I figured the running stage at Kona was a good time for a challenge update, so here you go:

Show Us Your Ghoulies:    33.7%

Running Pumpkins:             27.6%

Crypt Keepers:                     27.1%

E.V.I.L. Running Reapers:  24.7%

Glad to hear from you.  Yeah, most of us know about big projects that seem to consume absurd amounts of our time when we could be doing something else, like running.  You know, if it wasn't for this JOB, I could spend more time training.  Oh yeah, it's the JOB that affords me the luxury of training and racing.

REMINDER:

Please update the spreadsheet with your current progress by Sunday evening, 7 PM EDT. I'll be doing a challenge update then.

If you are sick or injured but want to continue in the challenge:
Here is the procedure for adjusting your goal:

(Original goal) x (31 - Days missed) / 31 = Revised goal

this is the same as:

(Original goal) x (Days during the month that you COULD participate) / 31 = Revised goal

For example:
Your original goal is 50 miles. But you miss 5 days due to illness/injury. Your revised goal becomes:

(50 miles original) x (31 - 5 days missed) / 31 = 42 miles revised goal
(50 miles original) x (26 days that you COULD participate) / 31 = 42 miles revised goal

If you need to revise your goal but are unsure of how to change it, please contact your Team Captain or me.

Hey Pumpkins,
It's a non-run day for me, i'm still on track for the month. Yay!
Anyone else getting ready to watch some Kona coverage?
I'll be parked on the drainer in front of the laptop, spinning with the athletes down the Queen K.
drainer days
Have fun out there!
k

Nice Bike! I did a trainer ride today but not w/ Kona... was watching a show. I only got in 45mins though so I'm thinking since I'm up late I'll squeeze in a shorter run.

Got 3 miles in this morning, bringing my total up to a little over 47 for the month to date (and a little over 36% of my goal).

Next week will be a recovery week for me, so my percentage by the end of next week might be a little behind the percent of the month finished, but not to worry, I have LOTS of mile planned for the final 2 weeks of the month!!!

I am on a mini vacation in Avila Beach (San Luis Obispo) and got in a terrific little run from the hotel to the end of the pier and back - 3.66 miles.  I described it to Chuck and he decided he wanted to walk it so I did that route twice this morning.  And now I am caught up for the month.

Happy running everyone!

Losta - Do you think I should revise my goal?  I just read on the Original Challenge thread that if you are sick or injured your can revise it.  I have missed 7 days  in October do to my flu and sinus infection.  I am going to do my best to get my mileage in but I don't want to team to suffer b/c I got sick.  Let me know you thoughts.  PS - If you think I should, feel free to make the adjustment.

CHALLENGE UPDATE!

It's Sunday evening, and here's your challenge update!

The CURRENT CHALLENGE STANDINGS are:
1st place - Show Us Your Ghoulies - 37.2%
2nd place - Crypt Keepers - 34.9%
3rd place - E.V.I.L. Running Reapers - 30.6%
4th place - Running Pumpkins - 29.7%

And in the SECONDARY CHALLENGE: (Because you KNOW there's always a secondary POST PADDING challenge!)....
Well, what can I say?
It's STILL Show us your Ghoulies by a landslide.
(Is anyone truly surprised?)

BUT it's only October 11th, so RUN RUN RUN (or I'll taser you).
