I will not be around tomorrow. I have to leave at the crack of stupid to go teach a class all day. Then go to Charlotte to help my friend celebrate her graduation from Nursing School. Then drive home for work at 7:00 on Friday.

Would some one summarize Ghoulie shenanigans for me for Friday morning?

Hey Ghoulies! Today's testing was a good experience. I think I did pretty well and I should know for sure within two weeks if I passed. The earliest I will go on to the next phase of testing (interview and writing exercise) would be July, more likely in August. That means I'll still be in a bit of a limbo situation and will definitely be accepting the recruiting gig if that's offered later this month. If THAT doesn't happen then I REALLY have no idea what's next. Oh, if only life coule be simple

Other than that, I'm having a pretty quiet day so far. I need to figure out dinner pretty soon here and am pretty much uninspired so I'll most likely just wing it. I think I'll also get in some ST later as well just to burn some steam. I hope everyone's having a nice night!

Hi all.

Speaking of kidneys and endurance sports and NSAIDS...a good friend of mine did IM St George last weekend--she now likely has ischemic colitis--partially due to heavy NSAID use (before and during the tri, mind you), as well as severe dehydration, and who knows what else. She finds out for sure tomorrow after a colonoscopy, but it doesn't look good. Hopefully it won't be too terrible, and she won't need surgery. So, please, for the love of all that is Gouhl, drink your fluids and save the NSAIDS for after the race!!!

In other news, my evening bike ride will likely be postponed due to high winds and a chill in the air. Grrr.
I ran yesterday, nice run, but now my ankle's barking at me. I have an appointment with a chiro next Monday. I hope he can help fix me!!

EVENING GHOULIES.

just having one of the days.

been overdue.

went to see my friend this morning before he left for work.  had a LOVELY visit.

then i went to the park to try and bang out a 4 miler, which ended at 2 miles.

im still fighting this head cold perhaps allergies garbage and what w the medicine keeping me up most of the night, i should've figured the run was gonna suck.

not a problem.

i knew my soon to be ex DH would have the boys this eve which let me out to go to the Cinco de Mayo festivities at Mad Mex and then on to the Y for a quick 1000 before i have to shadow one of the lifeguards for my orientation.

went to get change and lo and behold my swim cap and goggles are G-O-N-E, GONE.

not thinking anyone swiped them like the swim suit, probably just set them down somewhere and forgot them

i did look in lost n found, but a no go there.

ok like were on Plan Y for the day, i went in to try the new rowing machine and some weight lifting/body builder chick in sequined pants and tennis shoes (im SO not kidding) has the machine set for an hour.

no chance in he!! im gonna be using the rowing machine before i have to go in the Aquatics Center.

so i did 2 reps of 3 ab exercises and im OFFICIALLY calling it a semi-bad day.

not a full on bad day since i did have a LOVELY morning w my friend, but a semi bad one nonetheless.

heres to a better day tomorrow.

BAH!

LOL. It really does sound like you have a cold...or maybe that's just your accent? Innocent
Seriously, she was taking midol (caffeine/acetaminophen type) with 800 mg ibuprofen, every four hours(!),  during the race. The swim was super cold (they pulled over 40 people out of the water due to hypothermia), then the bike was a 2-loop course with a brutal hill--my friend made it 5 miles into the run before she couldn't keep going--and luckily another friend was at the aid station and took her to the EMT's, then back to her family at their hotel. She's also diabetic. Do you think early rehydration can help head off some of the damage from the ischemia? Or I guess technically that would be limiting the ischemia itself. She didn't get any IV fluids until about 24 hours after she was pulled off the course. I worry about her.

So I went and rode my bike! Yay!! It turned out that the front passed through, and we had a window of about 2 hours where the wind died down. It wasn't cold once we got going, either. And we got in the 75 minutes my plan called for, and the kids were both still alive and the house was standing when I got home. I call that VICTORY!!!

Would you like to hear something interesting?

Yeah, I knew you would.

My husband had our son at the doctor's yesterday, he's been complaining of ankle pain, not wanting to run, sometimes even walk.

He was diagnosed with achilles tendonitis. He's 10. The doc said it's not uncommon in kids his age, especially if they hit a growth spurt. My 10 year old is already 5'1" a growth spurt is JUST what he needs.

I am mostly recovered.  My right calf is still just a little sore but other than that I'm fine.

I'm sure we can find someone who would rub that for you.

I step away for a moment and I miss out on toppage, too. What's up with that?
