Where is your sense of adventure.

Put that book on a high chair in front of your bike and ride until your mind is full.  it works on the tread mill.  Come on Michelle you can do it.

Pump tire, change page, ride and read, pump tire, next chapter, change page, ride and read, and repeat.

Yeah that's it, the mid-term indoor century.

I'm trying to follow the couch to sprint. I can get the bike in, most of the run(although not very far), rare do I get the swim in. I find that work gets in the way, and sleep.Surprised If I had to have a life with all of this right now, I don't know how I would do it. If anyone comes up with a plan of sorts please pass it on.

LOL However instead of the mid term indoor century I opted for just doing some homework THEN changing the tire last night. Today I shall ride

I have 2 weeks left in my class and i've been really bad about doing the actual reading so I should be busting my butt in the next week and half to get ready for my final. One good thing I have going for me is that as of right now I have an A in the class so...

@Michelle - Good for you Ah.
Did you find the source of the flat?  On some tires, as they get older the side walls become softer.  This provide more rolling resistance and less protection from pinch flats.  You can tell if you're getting a pinch flat by looking at the puncture.  ???T?h?e?????? hole made by a pinch flat looks like it was bitten by a small snake, two punctures side by side.  You ca?n also get ??a pinch? ?f?l?a?t by?????? hitting a pothole riding on a tires with low tire pressure.  I consider 80 lbs psi to be low pressure.  This is a good reason to always put you tires to max pressure before riding.

@All - Goodnews I got in my lunch time run yesterday, bad news, I missed my 5:30am masters swim workout this morning.  pass closed over the mountain to the pool due to a winter storm that came in last night.  eb-and -flow

Winter training is difficult but worth every workout.  I try not to beat myself up for missing a workout, but regret each loss.  workouts are fun.  It's something only I can do for myself.  I'm a better self when I'm taking care of myself.

Cheers,

Mark that was great info about pinch flats...I didnt know it looked like a snake bite. Flatting is so frustrating.
I agree with you on working out,. I feel so much better if I do my workouts. These last few weeks have been tough, not being able to train. I am finally back in the pool everyother day and I will probably start riding my bike next week. My PT is being a bit conservative because I havd some issues after the surgery.

Time to hit the books Michelle

Ya know, I still have no clue what caused it. I checked out the tube, tire, and wheel and didn't find anything so i'm totally clueless. However, thanks for the info on the pinched flat cuz I had no clue that is what it looked like!!

Also, ditto on the "I'm a better self when i'm taking care of myself." I feel so much better which makes me a better wife and Mom ~ most of the time at least

I sure hope Spring hits here in less than a month but being northern WA and all, i'm not so sure. Not to be negative or anything but i've come to expect nothing of the weather here...damn living in Hawaii for 3 years

I am happy to say I am caught up on homework ~ for today at least. I have a few things due Sunday but I will save those for tomorrow. I am the worlds worse procrastinator!!!

I was starting to slack on the water challenge and felt it so i've been a lot more cognizant the last few days. As for the HIM/IM, I am such a slacker (again!) I will have to double check my stats but I don't know that I can honestly say I will make it. Wow, that makes me really sad...doing at least a HIM in a month would have been nothing for me a few months ago. Oh well, must take life as well as everything else in stride, right?!

As for my trainer ride yesterday, again...just call me slacker. Actually I used yesterday as my off day and jumped on my ole babe this morn. My husband laughed at me when I was talking to my bike and asked me "Really? You actually talk to your bike?" "YUP!" I answered and he just rolled his eyes. Come on...you guys can admit it...you do too, right???

Thing is, i'm not sure why he was so surprised considering I tell him all the time that his bike (which is newer AND more expensive than mine yet he's ridden it, literally, a handful of times) is crying out to him for some attention!

I knew I wasn't the only one I never named my bike but I always call him my baby.

How are all my mentor peeps today? My poor Sammi was up all night throwing up so i'm praying it is just a short lived bug or something like that...it just kills me when she is sick!

Michelle thanks so much for your honesty. I've been avoiding logging on to the site or postng anything becuase I've totally gotten away from my program. The past 3 weeks have been not so hot for me and I'm just struggling. As much as I know I'll feel better if I can hit the pool or road I resist with every ounce of my being. I'm rethinking the 1/2 marathon in May I've been talking about for the past 4 months. No decision but I feel better knowing you too are getting back to the basics.
Thanks for sharing and helping me out.

It's hard to admit when your racing goals have taken a back seat but I think we sometimes forget that when it comes down to it, our family, health (read: injuries) and other things in life take priority. Plus, the blues/depression/self pity often times overcome us especially when things start piling up. Needless to say, I think we all find ourselves here every now and then!

Soooo, with that being said I didn't get to run yesterday. I already mentioned that my daughter had been up all night vomitting...well, to add to that  my hubby had a horrible headache, almost like a migraine, so he couldn't even open his eyes. I got to take care of everyone yesterday but am happy to say that they are much better this morn

We finally got some snow (just what those of you who can't get rid of it want to hear, right?!) and so our household was thrilled this morn. Unfornately with everyone being sick yesterday we won't get to go out too much in it but we'll go out just to enjoy it for a bit!

Can anyone guess what I have to do today? If you guessed homework then you get a gold star Thankfully, next week is finals week so I will have a few weeks off before starting all over again.

This was a double post so I decided to take advantage of it...

Has anyone seen the movie "Red?" It has Morgan Freeman and Bruce Willis in it. We watched it last night and it is really good. It sounds like it would be a serious drama but it has a light hearted funny side to it. Plus, I love Bruce!!

We realized last night that this was the first time we rented a movie since having Sammi ~ yup, three years! Not sure if that's funny or sad Undecided

I'm sure you will all be surprised to hear I'm in the mountains again for a week of play in the snow. Training on the back burner. (read as I really needed a break). Hoping to get out today and try something new. A friend and I are headed out to snowshoe. I hear its like hiking in sand with tennis racket on your feet. Great fun. I'm taking my camera to get some pics of the wildlife here.

Great to hear you are in the pool MAV.
Good luck on the finals Michelle.

I want to share with the Mav group, I have an indoor PR to brag about.  This weekend after swimming 1600 continous I turned in a 1:43 timed 100yrd personal best.  I have been trying to break the 1:50 for so long that this is a major acheivement.  I've struggled with off and on shoulder injuries and some self taught technique problems that have made swimming my limiter.  Swimming has always been 'The price of admission' the get on course and race my bike.  Now swimming has become a joy!

Thanks for being here.

WOO HOO MARK!!!!!! Congrats on the PR. SO nice when you have a breakthrough, especially true with swimming. I like your thinking that swimming is just the price you pay to ride your bike. I know many who feel this way. Your perseverence continues to impress me!

Julie...everyone falls off the training wagon. Whats most important is that you are back. Go slowly. Dont try to "make up" for lost time and burn yourself out.

Terry have fun in the snow...snowshoeing is a great time!!!!

Michelle...you can have the snow. I woke up to 4 inches yesterday...yuck!!!Hope your family feels better...more importantly, hope you dont get it!!!

I am back in the pool and quite happy about it. Today I see the PT and hope to add some cycling. My knee feels a lot better. I only have discomfort when I weight bear.

I went to a big road race yesterday to see all my Mass BT peeps run 10K or 1/2 Mary. Was a lot of fun...cheer and beer is the best part of the race.

Today is the last day of the IM challenge...how did everyone do?

Congrats Mark- that must feel amazig.
I am going to do a few time trials to get a base to start at.

As for the half IM- unless I get a long run in tonight I will fall short in that area.

Just send the snow my way...the rest of the folk here will be cursing me but all that matters is that my babydoll will be in seventh heaven

Luckily all is good in the house now and so far I am good to go!

I have my fingers crossed for you Marianne that you are able to finally get some bike time.

As for the challenge...well lets just say I didn't hit the mark. I think I made the run and swim but not the bike. I say "think" because a lot of my distances have been guesstimates. Oh well, bring on the March challenge Laughing

I finally rode a bike today. 10 mins X2 but I will take it. I finally feel like I am on the road to recovery.

I came no where near the IM challenge goals this month except for the swim.

We had an ice storm this am...I guess I will take the snow.
