Have fun, Kelly!

This evening, I'm running after work. Saturday I'll hit the pool after work I think. Sunday is the 5 mile breast cancer walk, but the weather is turning to crap, so we might not do that.

bryancd - 2011-04-28 8:35 PM I LOVE good natured smack talk. You both are course clutter, by the way...

Nah, you're too fast for me to be your course clutter, however, Rudy and I will beat the crap out of you after the race and steal your medal... if you stick around that long

Swam this morning, will try and get a brick in this afternoon, its beautiful out and want to try and get outside.

Swim videos from the TI workshop......please keep in mind that in the post-workshop videos the focus is on form and not speed   I feel like I look like a total dillhole in the post-workshop videos, but some of the stroke concepts felt strange to me.  Plus the coach was screaming at me from the side of the pool -  keep your head down, open up, etc.

Initial video underwater:

http://youtu.be/qtZVKQKODRk

Inital video 2:

http://youtu.be/QrxKOt-ykSM

Post-workshop underwater:

http://youtu.be/AcqVl_4OTQA

Post-workshop video 2:

http://youtu.be/T3v4cKLqarY

Looks much better on the after -- one thing to watch is the position of your elbow under water.  You let it drop pretty quickly.  You want to remember to keep a high elbow (early vertical forearm) during the propulsive portion of your stroke.

That's exactly what the coach said.  The left side drops faster than the right and crosses over pretty badly.  Thanks for taking a peek!

Jen, but the crossover is MUCH better in the second vids, that is good, i always try to over exemplify the forward stroke, almost like feeling i am trying to get my arm outside my body line. That really helped me get rid of my cross over.

that is a great swim time for a 100, congrats on your progress!!!

Good luck this weekend, Kelly!

Rudy - I am doing the same thing - keeping my arms really wide (because what was wide in my head really wasn't in reality....so I'm thinking REALLY wide now...LOL).  Thanks for taking a look!

Thank you all for looking at my swim videos.  It's still a work in progress.  I'll probably have another analysis done at the end of the summer.

Tomorrow I have a long bike scheduled.  I need to work on my handling skills.  Sunday I have an 11-miler scheduled + an afternoon swim.  I have to get up around 4:30 both days, so I'm not burdening my husband too much.  Yuck.  I want sleep!!!!!  We're going to see Jon Stewart do some stand up comedy on Saturday (prob some Brazilian food and drinks beforehand).

La Fitness pool is 25 meters, i measured it.

The USA is one of like 3 countries in the WORLD that still uses the SAE system of measurement, I believe the other 2 are third world. I would love to go totally metric, sooooo much easier.

that is exactly how i fixed mine and how i was, but a word of warning, it takes practice, i still find myself reverting back to the wrong way every now and again, and then i have to concentrate on getting them back wide. It makes such a huge difference on how your body is able to rotate.

Rudy, 500 miles??? Awesome.

Kelly, 1,000 miles? That's just sick

You're both motivating to me though.  I'll set a goal for 300 and 55 miles running.

Took half day off work since the weather was nice.  Felt great actually riding in the warm weather. I live at the highest elevation in town, and it's a 2.5 mile climb to get back home, no matter which road I take. It always kills my average speed!  Ughhhh.  I guess the descent did help me though.

31.7 miles, 2,356 climbing. 17.6 mph.  No clue if that is a lot of climbing for that distance but felt good until the last climb

LOL! I brought in a 25 foot tape measure to one of the local LA Fitness pools to check. I know the one's in Norwalk and Stamford are the same as my splits are the same. I would be at least 3-5 seconds slower in a meter pool.
