Master 1346 Gold Coast | Subject: RE: May Flowers Challenge bodhi_girl - 2011-05-24 1:44 AM So - my boyfriend calls me yesterday afternoon and says to come have supper with him at his golf club. No problem, I drive out there, we were sitting chatting hadn't ordered yet ... and he points out the window and says "hey look there's my kid just coming in from his game, he's going to have dinner with us" .... I'm screaming in my head WHAAAT!?!?!?! You said NOTHING about meeting the kid! In reality I just said "ok" while inside I'm freaking out ... so *not* ready to meet his kids yet! But in the end it was nice. It was the oldest one (13) and he turned out to be very smart, and polite, and pleasant, and I enjoyed my dinner with him. My head is still spinning, though ... Good thing he didn't tell me ahead of time, or I wouldn't have gone. Meeting the friends AND the oldest kid in the same weekend is enough to exhaust me! (The party went splendid on Friday, by the way - everyone was lovely and friendly and welcoming and I had a great time). Phew. I gotta go have a nap. Maybe that was the est way to do it - no stressing beforehand! Now that ones out of the way and you liked him - awesome! |

Master 1623 | Subject: RE: May Flowers Challenge Had to say goodbye to my friend John today. This guy's been like my big brother for the past 4 years and is one of those people I trust with everything. He's headed back to Maryland and I have no idea when the next time I'll see him will be. Walked up the stairs back to James's apartment with tears in my eyes, he was definitely my hardest goodbye. I already want to plan a reunion weekend to go see him. This whole goodbye stuff is definitely the worst part of graduating. |

Veteran 392 Calgary | Subject: RE: May Flowers Challenge Well it's been a happy and productive 5 days off! Unfortunately back to work tomorrow, but I think I can handle it. So I met the friends AND Kid#1 (yes I'm still going on about that) and get this - last night the boyfriend shows up at my house with a set of golf clubs - for me! I golfed a fair amount when I was younger (mom & dad were both presidents of their respective gender's golf clubs back when gender was a deciding factor, jeez I'm getting old) ... but haven't golfed in 20 years. By choice. I asked my boyfriend when we first started dating if he'd teach me how and the answer was a resounding no - many reasons, #1 being he's a serious golfer and I don't think he has the patience for a beginner who's "not very good" and also the fact that I don't enjoy watching golf on tv is some kind of big deal (?) ... I thought it would be nice for when we travel if I have at least some passing knowledge of the game so we could enjoy that together, but I happily wrote it off as something I don't have to do and quite frankly forgot about it. Last night he shows up with a set of clubs for me. Then proceeded to school me on "Couple's Night" at the club. I guess I have to learn to golf?!? The man is full of surprises. Although if I have to learn to golf, he has to do yoga. Training has been going VERY well the past little while. I made the decision to not register for the Oly in August and instead registered for the sprint distance, and since I've done that all the pressure is gone - I can just keep having fun and train and race because I want to, not because I feel I have to. I can focus on staying at the distances I'm at and getting faster, not trying to get faster AND add distance. This also gives me time to strength train as well, which I was really missing. Without the long runs and bike rides I have more time for yoga and weights, which makes me immeasurably happy. Life is awesome, isn't it? |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: May Flowers Challenge TR, all that sounds GREAT! WOW, golf clubs and teaching you how to play....pretty serious stuff! I am enjoying training more this year with the pressure of racing off the table. Not worried about making "X" amount of time on a training plan or foing at "Y" speed.....just able to enjoy the moments. |

Master 1623 | Subject: RE: May Flowers Challenge I ran again today Still slow and still insanely hot outside but living in SC I'm just going to have to deal with the heat, as for the slowness, I know I'll work back up to my normal pace soon (at least I hope so). |

The only good thing here is that the clinic director wants me to be involved with a study he is setting up so I now get free treatment and with the ultra sound he has shown me what to do and I can just go and use it when it suits me |

I think this is another cold. It's so hard to tell the difference between allergies and a simple cold. I'm really super tired. That's what makes me think this is a cold. I have not been doing too much! I know I'm still in recovery mode but I CANNOT sit around on the couch watching Mickey Mouse all day! |

Master 2042 Albany, NY | Subject: RE: May Flowers Challenge Yesterday was pure craziness... Another annoying day at work. Drive like a madwoman to pick up both kids, get #1 to dance class, try on her costume, run home during her hour long class, get a quick run in on the dreadmill, quick make some PB&J for "dinner", run back to pick her up, drive us over to her makeup soccer game. Then I had to hose the poor muddy, sweaty mess off before bed... I don't know who was more exhausted last night... me or the girls! But I got my azz up early this morning to get a spin class in. Then PT for my wrist... My boss has been a moron all day. Now I'm off to #2's dance class... The good news is that soccer is cancelled for tonight (and I already got a workout in) so we can go home after dance and chill for the evening!! We're heading up to see some friends for part of this weekend. I'm supposed to bring my bike so we can go for a ride... It's HILLY op there in the Adirondacks... I'm excited and nervous about taking my wrist and out-of shape body out for a "real" ride... |

Honestly, I wouldn't mind something with teams again... I seem to be much less likely to slack off when I'm dragging my team down with me... I'm not so good at holding myself accountable, I guess. |
