Ghoulies are workin' out in August! (Page 14)

Stayed in PA on Monday night so I could get an early start on the drive to Dulles on Tuesday morning. Long story, but spent about 9 1/2 hours behind the windshield and 5 hours in meetings in DC yesterday. Really long day. Spent last night in PA as well. Dinner was microwave popcorn and Doritos. Not exactly the healthiest choices, but I was reduced to vending machine choices and I was hungry. I am tired. This is the point in marathon training that I started questioning my sanity last year. I have no freaking clue how anyone trains for an IM. (bowing to the IM Princess and Soon to Repeat IroNeal). Of course, I am waaaaay older than those kids so not beating myself up too badly. Planning to go see The Help this weekend. Loved the book. Anyone else want to go with me? I seriously "heart" movie popcorn with butter. Although, I usually want to puke afterwards. Can't help myself. Oh, and I don't share. You'll have to get your own.

Did you get The Help on your Nook? I want to get it, I just can't quite bring myself to hit the "buy" button, in person or on the web. I want to wait until I have my iphone back so I can read it on my nook app. My iphone has had some isues lately--I'm on my 2nd loaner phone in 2 weeks. I should have another new-to-me iphone any day now. I hope this is it. Although, supposedly if this doesn't work, I get a brand new iphone next time, not just a new to me phone. I love The Help in book format. I just might join Kim at the movies this weekend. I have heard that if you loved the book you are not disappointed with the movie. That is always good news. |

It's starting to get busy busy on my side...kind of sore from CPR yesterday (the heel of my hand is swollen from chest compressions on the hard, plastic actar dummy thing) and today we did IV starts on one another...not a fan of IVs or the catheter thingy...I have small veins and lets just say it was pretty hard for my friend to get a vein. She didn't end up cannulizing me and I got some fluid interstitial. I was more successful on her juicy suckers...I've got a few bruises from my pokes! Hi Mel!! Was she just trying to flush, or did she actually hook you up to IV fluids like that?
That's how I got hooked up. She got some flash but must have pulled out a bit before she could place the catheter. The nurse was pretty nice about it and she passed her because I think she realised how hard my veins were going to be for someone who has never done it. Once the IV was turned on to check the line it was pretty obvious it was interstitial so we stopped and took the catheter out. Another girl has hard veins and missed 2 pokes and they got one of the guys to volunteer to have another poke! |

There is an REI about 8 miles from where we will be, so I am going to stop by and see if I can pick up a new pair of hiking boots. I'd like to get a pair of Keen boots, but I want to try them on, I have been reading that they run small.

I bought mine before the Mac Book Air's were beefed up a little, but I picked the Pro because I needed something that would handle photo editing. I knew I had my niece's wedding coming up and I'd have a lot of pictures to work with, so I needed speed and power. I currently have 2 Mac, and 2 Dell laptops, plus we have a desktop that I built a few years ago, and the iPad. I'm going to have to wait until something dies before I can get a new laptop. The Mac Book Air will definitely be considered then. |
