My current manager who I have reported two for the last 12 months have a 'strained' relationship and never really got why I was so unhappy or why I kept telling her I was too swamped or why I kept saying 'the business is too reliant on me, if I get hit by a bus tomorrow we are screwed' (yes I acutally said that in one of our catch ups!) But given Ive been the squeky wheel for SO long, on some of the issues I have emails going back a couple of years...including promises of a fix or solution that never came... Our team manager who left a couple of months ago got it and I had an amazing relationship with her (in fact saw her for dinner a couple of weeks ago to catch up), as did my previous direct manager but I have been telling my current manager I am miserable all year and given lots of solutions (because I cant complain without offering a positive outcome) and have not seen one thing changed or actioned... I figure if I was THAT important they would have done something to make me stay... and now they are realising the truth... My favourite moment was a temp we have in turning around yesterday and saying 'I know people at her level but I cant recommend anyone because they would be earning a lot more $$$'.. Guess its a reality check that you need to listen to staff when they continuously tell you they are unhappy and could earn more elsewhere... looks like they will end up replacing my stuff with multiple people... While i get to try a different type of career using the same skillset i have in a different way... at the end of the day its all about understanding people and what they want.... Plus Im getting out of sales for awhile..... :D |

Let's see, I have 15 websites open here, and another 14 in a different browser. And 3 more in another browser. And I have EXCEL, WORD, and some other software stuff open. I think I probably just need to close some stuff down.... I'm running virus protection software (Norton), but that's a good idea about checking for malware. D001 - 2012-05-29 9:41 PM My.... Computer..... Is..... Getting...... Really.... Slow.... Someone please speed it up before I toss it out the window and buy a new one. In all seriousness here: 2). Clear out the browser cache. 3). Defrag. 4). Verify how much disk space you have total and then how much is available and report back. 5). Who else uses the 'puter? Clear out the cache in those other profiles and run a scan on those profiles when they log in. Well, that may 'splain a bit about the slowness. And Norton SUCKS (I'm the "antivirus guy" at work). What do you prefer to Norton? |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: Nibbs XLV - Baby Nibblets kaqphin - 2012-06-05 2:29 AM Hi Nibbs.... happiness is freaking out the boss... I've resigned from my job!!!!! :D After 6 years... and I have taken a job internally so its a transfer of sorts where I have been promised a HUGE amount more work/life balance, less pressure and pretty much the same employment terms! And... I will be working for a manager I just adore who wants me to work for her... amazing opportunity!!!!! And I will be working directly on what actually makes it to air on the main television station... awesome!!!! But... today we had a meeting called 'brain dump' where I went through all the areas and work I cover... they took one look at it all and realised its at least 2-3 peope to cover really... I think all the complaining I have been doing and cries for help... reality just hit home for them that I am the way I am BECAUSE of the amount that I have been covering for so long across such a broad range of areas at such a high level... (or at leat it did for me... I work to hard... fullstop)
So after watching them realise I cant tell you how happy I am feeling :D And that new job is looking like the smartest decision Ive made... at least this year (outside of getting engaged!) CONGRATULATIONS, CAT! Sounds like a great move for you! |

How cold is the water going to be? Thanks REALITY WAS... Water temp 55. Weather... 45 degrees, 20mph winds (30plus gusts), and rainy/sleeting (and snowing on some parts of the bike course) They cut the bike down to only 15 (actually 14.3) miles to basically get everyone to T2, b/c of the wind and dangerous road conditions. 12 of the pro's actually just unzipped their wetsuits and left them on for the bike. I saw several people w/ road rash on the run. Today, thinking back, I can't decide if I was tough or stupid for swimming. I couldn't remember my age without thinking (as people were asking what age group I was in when lining up) and my feet were turning splotchy purple. MOST were hypothermic BEFORE we ever got in the water. The water actually felt warmer than the air temp. Ironically, by the end of the run the sun had come out and the winds were warmer. I even ended up dumping a cup or two of water on my head to cool off. Was quite the wild day!!! |
