lisac957 - 2013-01-31 12:48 PM Tony are youse guys still eating Paleo-ish?
I'm thinking of giving it a whirl, if I can get myself to eat chicken/fish a few times a week.

I hope it's too different from how you're already eating... other than the meat thing.

Basically - nothing processed.  The short version is no dairy, no breads or grains, no legumes and have lots of protein, fruits, veggies and good fats.  We also have a couple of cheat meals during the week.

However, I tend to go by the Paleo for Athletes version (I've got the book), which says that if you exercise for more than 90 minutes - there is a window of time during which you can have pretty much whatever you want before going back to eating by the paleo rules.

As Tony said - there are tons of websites with info and fabulous recipes out there.

So, pretty much, if you're training for a HIM or longer the rules just don't apply, ever?

Explaine how she is wasting her money and how much you dislike her gambling. Offer to do other activities with her if she lives near you to keep her busy. It is an addiction and very costly one.

Cord has the best answer

But as for serious answers, Ken's suggestion to talk openly and honestly (a la intervention style, if needed) can at least draw the issue into the open, but just as with ANY other addiction, you need to know, realize, and accept that short of locking them up, there is absolutely NOTHING you can do to keep them from feeding their addiction.  Until THEY are ready to quit because they want to NOT feed it more than they do, nothing will succeed.

^^^^^

We had a family friend that had the same problem.  She was very addicted and of course we loaned her money, until we found out why she didn't have any money, once her family notified us of her problem.  She to this day will not admit it, but she does have it under control currently.

Sadly, I didn't get to try "Bob it"...got Samantha instead of Lorena. And asking her to wiggle her nose just didn't have the style reference I felt necessary.

Nope, not true.   after a longer training day (90 minutes or more) there's approximately a 1.5 hour window where if you want to have a sweet potato or a bagel or rice, go ahead and have that.  Once that time limit is up, you're to go back to eating paleo.

Ah, a very small window. Like a protein shake sized window.

I don't think I that I could ever pull off that paleo thing.  I think that food is something to be enjoyed and experienced, not restricted.  If you like it, have it.. but as with everything, all things in moderation - including moderation

Really Bad day at work and just about walked out.  Came home and have a few drinks, played some music with the band and had a few more, so it ended a lot better.  Maybe I need band practice every evening after work.

I finally found some .22 ammo yesterday.  Now I can go shoot my new (used) 10/22.

Man, what is up with all of these ammunition hoarders?
