Member 22 | Subject: RE: Introduce yourself: Georgians Name: Joe Age: 37 Hometown: Philadelphia, PA (but Dallas, TX most recently) Town: Atlanta, GA Favorite Training Places: GA locations TBD, but nothing beats the Davis Mountains of west Texas for cycling and the Austin, TX area for everything Triathlons Completed: Several since 2005 up to Olympic distance, but nothing near Atlanta Current Goals: Racing Miami 70.3 October 30. After that, hoping to get into the 2011 Leadville Trail 100, continue racing cyclocross, get into crit racing and try racing some Xterras. Did a local off-road sprint in early spring and it was awesome (dare I say way more fun than on-road tri's). Beyond, that I'm just hoping to get into some formal and informal training groups to stay active and learn the area. |

Regular 61 | Subject: RE: Introduce yourself: Georgians-Marietta David Hello everyone! My name is David! I am new this year to the awesome World of Triathlons. I plan to do the Augusta Half IM in September. Have been building a base since October and have one year of Running under my belt (minimalist vibram runner and long time soccer player), Some limited but improving experience swimming at the Central Cobb Aquatic Center, and absolutely love biking. I am building a bike and am half done. Kindof a Frankenstein on the cheap until I collect enough play money for a tri bike. I plan to do the indoor tri at the Lifetime Fitness in two weeks or so. So far I do sprint distance bike, run bricks as part of my workouts just to get an idea of where I am at since Im sure some will think "he's trying a half IM in his first year, yeah right!!!" Tonight I am doing an olympic distance bike/run brick as my long distance and hard workout of the week. Ive been up here in Atlanta for a year and pretty much grew up in Savannah(doing the hunter army air field tri in MARCH!!!). Its hard to find workout partners or just social friends with similar pursuits. The drinking/eating/and partying days are over for me at least on the usual Id love to be affiliated to a Club but its already been quite a financial committment. Looking forward to meet some cool people on here and in some events as well! Oh!, by the way. I am a Certified Athletic Trainer so holler at me if you have injury issues or questions. I dont mind helping ya out and probably saving a bundle on doctors fees Have a great weekend!!! |

Master 1730 Atlanta, GA | Subject: RE: Introduce yourself: Georgians-Marietta David Welcome. The sport can be expensive. if you are looking for a club, you should check out Atlanta Tri Club. Most of the group WOs happen you your side of town. The only draw back is the cost, but given the benefits, you may think it is worth it. I think there is some information session coming up plus you can come to a group WO and get the feel for things. Good luck! |
