Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Big day today, and fun too. 5.5 mile run this morning, first run to start breaking in a new pair of shoes (same make/model as old ones), then 2150 in the pool that felt real good and quick. 2nd trip to the chiropractor this afternoon, having him do this ART therapy and after two sessions it seems to be alright. I was a little freaked out after the first session with the amount of cracking and force used, but I never got sore as I thought I might. Then a 27 mile bike ride tonight with the group, which ended up consisting of only me since everyone else is done for the season. Whatever...I like my own pace better than theirs anyway!

You've been really hitting it hard, I'm looking forward to seeing your performance and results come race day, it ought to be a good one! Thanks Andy. I noticed you are running the 10 miler (or the short cut to St. Paul). For those not familiar with the Twin Cities Marathon, it has a companion 10 mile event which is so popular you can only get in by winning a pretty hard to win lottery. The 10-miler starts from the same place and ends at the same place as the marathon but gets in three miles to a bridge over the Mississippi that the marathon course takes 19 miles to get to. They share the last 7 miles and for those 7 miles get the same insane number of spectators. I've heard it's a great race. BTW, nine days out (so forecasts aren't that reliable) but weather looks perfect. About 38 at race start, with 47 at noon and overcast all day. Scattered showers. Hope the forecast holds. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 2,200 swim. Not only I will have my best training month ever (will finish with higher swimming, running, and biking volume than any other month); but it has been particularly good for swimming. In September, I extended my interval workout from 1,600 to 2,000; had my first 1,000 and 1,200 straight swim, and reduced my interval from every 2:30 to every 2:20. Which means two things: 1) I am improving my swimming fitness; and 2) I am a masochist of the worst kind Andy S 11/ B 11/ R 14 Rest 4 Total 36 Time 50:48:48 |

You've been really hitting it hard, I'm looking forward to seeing your performance and results come race day, it ought to be a good one! Yep, the 10 mile really is a great race. In fact, it's the US Championships for the 10 mile distance, so there's lots of insanely fast runners there. I was lucky enough to get in again this year through our running group in town, and my wife and several other friends are running the full. She's out to break 3:30 this time after a 3:36 in Fargo. Myself, I'm just hoping to break 1:30 in the 10 mile after 1:34 last year. And I am also very excited by the weather forecast, looks perfect for a race! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Today was awesome. Slightly over 7 miles in Central Park. Was staying about a couple of blocks away and got out at about 5:30 am. Gotta love NYC, folks coming in from the night when I'm heading out. Had no idea where to go until I followed a sea of people running through the park in a light rain. Thought about you Gabe and your upcoming marathon. The marathon ends in the park and it ain't that flat. Those last couple of miles will be tough (but beautiful). Edited by JoePetto 2012-09-28 7:19 PM |

Like others on here starting to enjoy swimming and the time I'm spending on it is paying off.1.45hr ride this morning. Was going to do a run after but it was only 3degrees here this morning when I left in my shorts and top. My toes and feet where numb when I got home so I could not run. ![]() ![]() |
