I am not ready to do a long IM from Rev3.  The one person I know that did the full at Cedar Point said there was only a few hundred that did it, so it was very lonely.  I want to suffer with others, not by myself, ha, ha.

If I do one, I want it to be a WTC event because I know there will be more people doing that distance.

I do want to do a shorter Rev3 race though.

My training partner and I are the same height, weight and build. If we were doing each discipline as a race I would be 5% faster on both the swim and the bike but he would be 5% faster on the run. So all in all it's more or less a wash so when we do our first we'll just pace it out at a speed we can both do and cross together. It's rare to find compatibility to that level but if you look at your local tri teams maybe you can find somebody. Two women from our team are the same as my friend and I and are doing IMFL together.

I don't need to know anyone specific, but I know at a WTC event regardless of when I finish there will be lots of people.  I know its difficult to find training people, but when racing it is made somewhat easier if you see people or have people around you.

At my first marathon, Fox Valley, I was out in the middle of a forest preserve with no one for long periods of time for part of the race, but with the Chicago marathon that would never happen.  I thought about giving up at FV, but it never crossed my mind at Chicago.

Most WTC events have a really long tail and there will still be lots of people on the course at 15, 16 and 17 hours.  When you do a race like Rev 3 Cedar Point where there are only 500 people in the entire race, it can get really lonely.

I get what you're saying Carrie.  Although I will say, even at Louisville & Wisconsin, there were loooooong stretches on the bike where I was all alone, not a sole in sight, wondered if I made a wrong turn, and it is depressing.  I like someone to chase down!  Vineman the same way, lots of lonely biking.

But for the run I would think there will probably always be people around you.  Don't most 140.6 races have you do loops or out & backs?  (If anyone knows of a point to point please let me know, I hate repeating anything!)

Aren't the Rev3 races fairly big?

Well that answers my question.  Wow, I had no idea it was that small.  Interesting...

Cedar Point has a half and a full at the same time plus aqua bike options for both the half and the full.  There are significantly more people in the half.

Some of the HITs races have had fewer than 50 people doing the full options.  Talk about lonely.

I think I would be OK on the bike being lonely, except if I thought I got lost.  The run would bother me being alone... especially since it would be into the night.

DDVMM - 2012-10-11 6:37 AM Sorry for the delay. The tests did show the cancer is present in the lymph nodes they tested. It is small from what they can tell. The doctors are talking to determine what the next step is. I won't know until next week. I am leaning toward just monitoring and not doing the invasive surgery they may suggest. I have a race to run! Tempo bike done for the morning!

You have such a fantastic attitude!

We're all thinking of you, let us know if there is any way we can help.

Also speaking of racing -- I'm thinking about doing Eagleman in 2013 so I can be there when you finish.

Now that brightens my mood!!! I hope you do decide to race eagleman!!!!

Got Shaun's permission this morning and just registered.  Big races for 2013 will be Eagleman, IMMT and IMFL.

That is so awesome!!! Now I know I will finish....how can I not, knowing Kelly is waiting for me at the finish!

I have to imagine that number will grow every year. They're a pretty cheap option but I hope the course support grows as well. I've heard it's pretty thin.

I missed some training because I took my daughter to Chicago for the weekend.  My sister had a treadmill, but I really wanted the weekend to be all about Madge.  I didn't want her looking back and saying that her mother couldn't give up the running for just one day (and negatively impact her trip).  We had the most amazing time!  I really feel like we connected in a much deeper way, as I was able to give her all of my attention.  Madge is so happy

Trying to play catch-up this morning.  Skipped the swim and made up my "long" run that I missed yesterday.  I need the run more than the swim anyway.  I'm going to do a KB dvd this afternoon.

Kelly - Did you see that Mont Tremblant is the North American championship site this year??  Pretty cool.  More Kona slots too.

Good long ride yesterday followed by a killer run.  Okay swim today.  Did a little core and yoga work after the swim.

Hello y'all! Great weekend here in VA! Kids ran their first 5k's yesterday and had a blast. I was worried about my daughter but she pulled through and didn't stop at all. Son did well even though he had some shin pain near the end. I ran the Half Marathon with a team and we got 2nd overall. I set a PR even though I thought it was an easier 13 miles than my training runs have been. I have the Army ten miler which is with my company this weekend. It is more of a logistics trip for the Marine Corps Marathon the following weekend. I can't wait to get all this run focus over.

Congrats to Bryan! That is an awesome time!

Morning, all!  Easy bike this morning + core work, and then I will run for a short time this afternoon.

Just found out they added an October marathon in Cleveland for 2013.  It's in the Rock and Roll series.  Soooo excited to have another big, popular marathon option here in Cleveland.   The fact that it's in October is even more appealing! I'm pretty certain I'm going to use 2014 as a run focus year and train for a full marathon, and this might be the one I pick.

Wow Jen I am still trying to get 2013 planned 20 mins on the trainer last night to get the blood flowing through the legs and did some good stretching. So my company got out team that is running the Army Ten Miler Nike running shirts! Pretty cool I thought.
