Nice job on your races guys!

Jeff, I hope to have a time like yours on my first oly in a few weeks.

Been doing lots of travelling the last few weeks.  All in good fun though.  Training has been doing well, can't say the same for nutrition!!

Just finished my biggest training week ever--just a few minutes shy of 10 hours.  Hope to up that a little this week and then begin to taper for the race.

This summer has been a little weird in upstate NY.  Not getting too hot.  I have not even turned the AC on yet.  This mornings run started at around 48 deg...bbbrrrrr.  Actually, it is great running weather, just not what you would expect in July!

Training is getting back on track!  7 mile run before church yesterday and a 1000 yards in the pool at lunch today.  I haven't swam in weeks, and didn't want to push it too much.  My shoulders are sore from shoveling 4 yards of mulch yesterday afternoon...

Great job Jeff!  Take care of that leg so that it doesn't turn into something big...

George, Please, you want a BETTER time than mine. I get passed by driftwood in the swim portion.

Matt, Glad you're back at it.

I think I'm gonna sneak in a longer Sprint this weekend (750 yrds/20 miles/5miles). I need to get as many race starts under my belt as possible. My "A" race is Aug. 8.

Hope everyone else is fit, healthy and happy.

Anyone racing this weekend?

Not me.  My plan is for a 40+ mile ride on Saturday (which will be my longest ever) and then a 8-9 mile run on Sunday.

My next race is August 4th--second tri, first oly.  It will be two months since my first race and that feels too long.  I am itching to get in another!

Have a good weekend!  (I know it is only Thursday--I am just wishing the weekend were here!!)

Tami

I want to thank all the encouragement you've given me as i embarked on this triathlon endeavor!  As you get ready for your IM triumph I leave you with these words of wisdom.

"The man, woman in this case, didn't get to the top of the mountain by falling."

You've prepared for this moment, now all you have to do is do it.  My thoughts will be with you all day tomarrow.  Do us all proud as we to dream of becoming what you are and will soon become again;

AN IRONMAN!

Note to self, check the courses before signing up.  Damn that was a lot of hills today.  Transition was on an incline right out up a hill and more hills.  Come back and start by running up hill.

Finished in 1:38, if not for the hills, might have been able to achieve 1:25, although I did lose almost 4 min in transition.  Need to work on that!

Anyone else race?

Nice Job, Adam.

Looks like it's just the 2 of us.  My how our numbers have dwindled.  Most of the 'group' have no log entries at all.

I am still here too.  Just don't check this thread too much since there isn't a lot of activity.

Finished my first Oly on Sunday.  2:45:11.  Was shooting for sub 2:45 so I was pretty close.  Considering it rained from about mile 5 on the bike through the rest of the race I won't complain.  It was a trail run too so the rain made for a muddy mess.  Race report will be posted later today or tomorrow.

Nice job on your race Adam.

Still here-just have not been racing.  Did Staggerwing Duathlon in Tullahoma Tenn. this past Saturday. 4k/30k/4k.  This was my first duathlon. Tried to take it easy on the first run to save legs for bike and second run. (18:59-7:38/mile pace). Felt great on the first half of the bike course.  It was mostly downhill with a slight tailwind-unfortunately it was an out an back course and the return trip toasted my legs. (54:40-20.5mph).  Course was pretty hilly and my riding down on the Gulf Coast did not prepare me too well.  Legs felt cooked getting off the bike but I waddled/shuffled the last run in 20:59 (8:27/mile)  Time overall was 1:36:41. Was hoping for under 1:36 but was not to be. Put me 2nd of 8 in age group and about 24 of 90 overall.  Fun race, nice location, great folks and well run.

Probably the best part of the race was that my 15 year old son decided to do the race the day before.  We were on vacation in Chattanooga so we put a mountain bike in the car for him to ride.  He runs a low 17 minute 5k so I knew he would kill the first run but I warned him that he would struggle off the bike.  I think he may have been the only person there on a mountain bike but he stuck it out on the hills and survived to finish.  As he crossed the finish line he said "I hate you for letting me do this".  He had alot of encouragement from the other racers and ended up getting 2nd in his age group........................out of 2.

To me this duathlon was tougher than the sprint tri I did the end of May.  The extra run is brutal on the legs and I have not yet learned good pacing on the bike.  Signed up to do a local 5k tonight but my legs are still pretty tired.  Should take it easy like a training run.

Next tri is an olympic in Sept. in Gulf Shores Alabama. (My "A" race).  Really picking up training over the next few weeks.

Randy

Sorry I've been absent everyone.  I've been getting absolutely hammered at work.  As an example in the past 36 hours, I've been working probably 28 of them.  Gotta love it when the users test their new computer system thoroughly!  Ugh...can't wait for a long weekend.  I think next monday is a sick day.  I need a break!

I have been getting my runs in prepping for my first 1/2, and hopefully on Thursday night I'll have a new 5k PR.  Been trying to get to the pool, but unfortunately it's been about a month since my las real bike ride....

Hey, the Gang's come back.

Randy-Nice duo.  You're right about duos.  The second run is brutal.  Congrats to your son.  2nd AG (regardless of how many competed).

George-2:45 is SOLID.  My "A" race is this Saturday.  It may be my last chance to break 2:30.  Last year, his race was my first Oly Tri ever.  I SUCKED.  So, I've got a bit of a score to settle.

Good to see some activity.  Good luck to everyone racing this weekend.  Did the "smart" thing last night (unusual for me) and ran the 5k race really easy.  Ran with my 14 year old daughter and was able to help her get under her goal of 30 minutes (29:27). She is not a happy runner-a little grumpy at times. Was at the Y at 5:30am for swim but lightning in the area so no swim.  Goals for the month as I ramp up for "A" race are:

Swim 30k yards

Bike 325 miles

Run 75 miles

What's everyone else trying to do for August?

Nothing for me.  My son had surgery last week so I was out of town all week.  He is doing well and we got home Saturday.  Got in 20 miles on the bike yesterday afternoon before it started raining.  Don't have any other races planned so I have to figure out what I am going to do now...

2:40:16

34:34 Swim, 1:11 bike, 51:14 run.   Swim went GREAT-no panick, no anxiety.  Bike was good, but probably too hard-run suffered later.  My goal for 2:30 was not close, but I know I CAN do it next year.
