Hey, got up this morning and got dressed to run. Opened the back door and was met with torrential rain - which actually got worse about 10 mins later. Was going to have tomorrow off but will shift it to today and have my long run tomorrow.

You should go run, and log it as a double swim/run workout.

HTFU Tongue out

Seriously, I really enjoy running in the rain.  It makes it a little harder for me to hear if any cars are coming though.  And no, I don't run with an iPod or anything like that.  But I have had a few of my most recent runs in the rain, and really found it very nice.  I think for me, having never been an endurance athlete, it was a realization like "holy crap, it's 5:45am, it's pouring, and I'm out running!" excited feeling.  Like I'm actually starting to become a runner, or at the least a person that's serious about their training.

I also love to run in the rain. But this was beyond that. When I went to bed and also when I woke up it was raining so I expected I would get wet. But by the time I was out the door it was ridiculous.

Drizzle - fun to run in.  Downpour - not so much.

It sucks even more to get stuck on your bike in the pouring rain.  There's nothing quite like that "drowned rat" feeling to make you hate the thought of being on your bike for one minute longer!

I love running in the rain, I hate running through puddles... which is difficult since usually when it rains you have lots of puddles. We have alot of rain going on since yesterday and through the weekend. Going to make it difficult to go biking.

I'm sad, I was all fired up to go buy a wetsuit and then take an open water swim class this weekend. No wetsuits in my size, which means no open water swim class. Still way too cold in maine to go swimming without a wetsuit. Argh.

My OWS is a disaster. I was out there again tonight, and I still can't sight to save my life. I beached myself FOUR TIMES during the swim. And I only swam 700m!! Please tell me step-by-step how I am supposed to sight/breathe/swim all at the same time. I don't know if I will ever be able to swim 1500m in open water at this rate!

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend, we've got a 10k and a tri going on! Kick a little tail and have a lot of fun!!

Took a look at the training logs, we've got a few spotty bits, but everyone is putting in some solid training hours! Well done!

Yeah, I've seen some pretty mangled, um, things as well working in adult ICU.  I'm sure you got more volume of "ick" in ER and EMS, but I have a sight or two that I wish I could get out of my head.

Yeah, some things are better left unknown.

And he's got to be buff to keep this band of miscreants in line.

Looking forward to the race reports today.
I'm getting excited/scared for my own in a few weeks.
Have the kids this morning but was determined to get some training in so got my nanny to get the kids up while I went for a 7:30am spin class. A nice 1:20min class. Brett a cyclist so it was really good. Hadn't done a spin class for about a month. I'm going to try and add that to my week.

Enjoy the day. You're in or you're out.

So today was my very first race... and I won! Well, I finished fourth overall but first out of the women. I think I was first in my Age Group for men or women too, but I'll have to check that once the official results are posted. I didn't get to stick around for the awards ceremony because my 2.5 year old was having a minor meltdown, but my friend was going to collect my hardware and give it to me tonight at our soccer game.

I'll do a full race report once I have my splits, but I think I did okay. My swim wasn't great, but I knew it wasn't going to be. I only got passed once on the bike, but I kept pace with two of the guys in front of me. My transitions went really smoothly and fairly quick. Coming out of T2, I could feel my lungs almost exploding (I've been fighting off a chest cold since Thursday) but I settled into a decent pace on the run. The run is the only place where I really feel like I could have been faster, if I'd been 100%. We'll see how things go in three weeks when I do my first sprint distance!

EXCELLENT!!!! Well done! And, if you won the womens race, then you won your AG as well, since they split AG's by men and women. They may only let you win the overall, though.

Nice!

Not my speediest of races but I think I did pretty well after a very busy month.  One of my goals was to have a steady race - run all 6.2 miles consistently - which is something I've struggled with in the past.  At least I was sucessful on that front.  I even had a little kick left for the end and managed to pass a few folks in the last 800m or so.

I was #1 in my AG for men and women - but I was also the only one in that AG! I really think I could have finished <50mins except for my cold, so I'm pretty happy with 52:06 given the circumstances.
