thebrayon - 2009-08-21 10:23 AM Hello Team,
I finally made my mind and registered for the Olympic tri tomorrow. It will probably not be an easy one since we will be getting the nice weather from "Bill".  The rain should only start later Saturday or Sunday, but the winds will be here.... Depending on how Bill evolves, winds could be 15, 20 or 25 mph. It is an out and back course so I should get the wind in the right direction at least twice (2 loops). The swim is in a lake, not the ocean so we should be good to go.

After that race, I will be preparing for the HIM on Sept 12 in Montreal. I feel that I did not train enough for that race but will do my best and since it is my first, set a time to beat for my next one maybe next year.

Good luck tomorrow!  The mere mention of rain and wind is giving me flashbacks to last Sunday

How did your wife's first tri go?

We did not get any rain, but boy the winds were strong. I am writing my RR and will let you know once it is ready.

As for my wife's triathlon, it went very well for a first one. She is talking of doing more next year..... The RR is here: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=176299

That heat can be a killer.  Thankfully, summer has been pretty mild around here.

Sorry I haven't been around lately.  I just got back from a week-long vacation in Colorado.  It was relaxing, but I had to keep up on marathon training.  Running at altitude was more of a challenge than I thought it would be.

I was in Colorado in the military and remember the 1st couple of weeks of PT runs being brutal.

Went on a bike today with guys from work and we were passing this house with huge pit bull on a chain, it was raising cane as we went by and suddenly snapped its chain and headed straight for us. I got my bike turned and went straight at it and at the last minute it jumped past my wheel and bit me in the ankle, not bad but enough to send me tumbling on the bike which did hurt. Banged up knee, hip shoulder and my head hurts, but what really sucks is I have to wait and see if this dog has all its shots and the AC guy says they have had alot of problems with these people keeping there animals shots up. Just in case you were having a bad day you should feel better, also I went on on my ride and was coming off a big hill and got hit by a huge monarch butterfly in the head and about wrecked again. I may take tomorrow off.Cry

Not bad. I know I will finish it. My objective is 5h30. I could always have trained more, but with the time I had, I did my best. The weather is suppose to be on our side......for now.

Luc, I hope all went well with your race today.

Today I am in Madison volunteering at the Ironman event.  I'll be doing the same tomorrow.  The atmosphere is simply amazing.  I can't wait to work more tomorrow and cheer on the athletes and then get signed up for next year's race!!

Hello gang,
Yes, everything went very well on my first HIM. I will have a RR this week-end. It was really fun and was able to finish faster than my 5h30 objective. I want to do it again next year......

Volunteering at IMWI this past weekend was absolutely fantastic.  If you you ever get a chance to do so I would suggest doing it.  It's a very rewarding experience.  A lengthy writeup of my weekend is here.
