Stacie - sorry about the toe issues.  I'm having a similar problem, but on my left hand ring finger.  Been married for 17 years and now I have a skin issue under the ring.  It is causing me to not wear the ring which is driving me crazy.  i already have a dermatologist appt on the 28th so I'm holding on till then.  Meanwhile, trying hte OTC stuff to no avail.

It's been pouring rain here in GA.  I'm a little behind on the bike, but if I get rained out tonight, I'll get on the trainer in the basement.  Otherwise i'm doing okay with the rest.  Keep up the good work team.  WE WANT TO HOLD OUR FIRST PLACE STATUS.

i reached 99% of my swim goal (w a little less than two weeks left in the challenge) and thought...

WHAT THE HECK?

here i added my total swim time for month wrong.

DOH!

i made the adjustment (increased my goal) on the spreadsheet (in case anyone wants/needs to know)

oh dear me...tons of typos in the above post.  sorry bout that. ^^^^^^^

So tell us more about the microbrewery Stacie.   No impact for your ride home or for your typing?

no, no impact whatsoever...i was the DESIGNATED RIDER.  LOL.

actually, im not a beer drinker, believe it or not.

BUT....the microbrewery is totally fab and their home brews according to my fellow riders were AWESOME.

you can try any of their brews in these small glasses (a double shot glass) for a BUCK each.

the food is really good too and the ambience is way cool....the owner is an artist, and he has all these really whimsical wood carving throughout the entire place...the have a huge wooden deck out front so you sit outside.

super mid-ride lay over.

stacieb

Now this is more my kind of bike ride!!

*beer riding TOPPage*

this was a great one, KIM.

i would have loved to have you along.

long ride on tap tomorrow - 50 miles - w a lunch break in the middle - in prep for the Cook Forest 60 miler the end of the month.

stacieb

Have a super day!

thanks DEE.

it was super.  thanks.

the weather couldnt have been more perfect.  cool.  cloudy.  no rain.

we road some excellent roads, through some really pretty areas....i just love the landscape here in Western PA....we all commented on how amazing some of the vistas will be come the October.  ahh the seasons!

we have a delightful lunch at the Microwbrewery.

its so nice to break up your training w sessions like these where, you riding hard, but then you have chance to sit back, relax and enjoy some really groovy company.

make tri'ing that much more enjoyable.

HAPPY HAPPY!

I love micro-breweries!

Sounds like your ride was very successful and a good fun time!

...Especially the groovy company!

We're not getting much of a seasonal change down here yet, it comes much later for us usually 'round the end of November, if you can believe it!

Cheers!

JEN.  aren't the changes wonderful, regardless of when they come?  i love the fall, in particular.  the colors.  the cool, crisp air.  ahhhh.

and im so glad that i was able to get my ride in yesturday.

im down w a NASTY virus today.  my entire family has it.  i thought i dodged a bullet....but alas, i got hit...

i woke up in the middle of the night last night, congestion, headache, sore throat, fever.  UGH.

im feeling better as the day is going on, but still...

im super bummed cuz i was gonna go and watch the Masters swim today - its the first meet of the season.

oh phoooey.

just think its best if i rest.

i dumped a 4 miler that was 'on tap' for today....and thankfully my long run isnt scheduled until WED....thats the most important one to get in.

so we'll see how the next few days go...rest today, tomorrow perhaps.  a tapered workout, and then maybe, just maybe, w a little bit of luck, ill be back at it no later than Wed....

resting/recovering well.
stacieb

Stacie hope you are feeling better...we have the cough/sore throat/horse voice here too.

as horrible as i felt, KIM, it passed quickly, thankfully.

i wasnt too sure....

but by tuesday i was feeling MUCH better.

the yucks MUST be going around, just about everyone i know is sick or was sick recently.

hope your cough/sore throat/hoarse-ness passes quickly too.

blujay65 - 2009-09-13 6:00 AM Today I am going for a ride with my friend David. An easy 40 miles or so. I don't care if it's raining... I'll bring my rain jacket!

that's the spirit, JEN.  i actually did a ride in the rain w my husband, slow easy paced as to not wreck, and its by far one my most memorable.

stacieb

It's also good to train in the rain as you never know what the weather will be like on race day! My first 3 races this year were in the pouring rain!!

you know, i used avoid training in nasty weather, putting off sessions until the weather was better, and then the coach at the Y talked to us about training through the weather for the very reason your mentioning KIM.

you just NEVER know what race day will be like.

i've been really glad in a few race situations that ive followed her advice.

skrtrnr - 2009-09-15 7:20 AM i am.

the worlds

WORST

sick person.

im tellin ya.  after only two days of this CRUD, im ready to climb the walls....

im gonna wait it out this morning, but i serious need to get out of this house and get my body moving to some degree....

im definately not 100%, far from it, but i can tell that im moving in a health-full direction, for sure.

id like to swim.  just a shortie.  and most definately with fins....

Wed's long run is out of the question for sure, though im feeling 'clearer' i still feel wiped out.  a long run would not be good....

it can wait til later in the week, even over the weekend if necessary.

just trying to think it through, and make good choices.  im not the best at this sorta thing.  i tend to get back at it too soon, and end up making an improving situation worse, and then i have a set-back.

never seem to know whats best/right/......

how do you all guage this sort of thing?  i have friends on one end of the continuum who say, wait it out, an extra few days wont hurt, and then other friends that train through every illness, injury.

i guess i find myself somewhere in the middle....

i dont feel the need to be 110% symptom free, but im not about to train on through whatever either.

sorry for the blabbering.  there must be still some snot pressing on my brain.

have a happy everyone!
stacieb

Stacie sorry to hear this thing is holding on...as for the training I wait until my energy level is back...unless it has been a while then I wonder if I am getting into a slump and then push myself to do something...if I feel good then I do more if not then I stop....I also don't get sick very often but when I do it knocks me out! So I never know! i say listen to your body.

this one sure was a doosey KIM.

and thanks for the advice.

its very sound.

KENDRA.  what a bummer your not able to wear your wedding ring.

i tell ya, this is the gross-est thing EVER.

im glad its on my toe, at least this way i can put a sock on and not have to look at it.

i hope the dermatologist is helpful and it clears up VERY soon so you can get back to wearing your ring.

I got in a bike ride this morning and have felt great all day.  I plan on a run tomorrow morning.

The weather has NOT been cooperating. It's been raining on and off for almost two weeks now. Just dreary. I guess it would be OK if it was not so warm! It's like a hot sticky blanket was dropped over our state!

Got in a ride on the trainer for today.  Rain rain, go away, come again another day.

Was supposed to ride motorcycle to NC this Sunday and back again on Monday, but with the rain, it looks like that won't happen.
