Wow, I see I am in the last wave at 9:06. Maybe my bowels will be cleansed by then from the pre-race jitters. At least I shouldn't have a problem with getting passed as much on the bike and run.

barcaray - 2010-09-15 8:06 PM Hi all. My wife and I read a while back that the nutrition on Ironman courses had been changed to Powerbar Endurance. We have been using it in our training and now the packet we read today states that Gatorade will be used. Anyone know the real scoop? Thanks for all the info posted here by that way!

its not all im events, yet.

Through the new agreement, Ironman PERFORM will be the official sports drink for the following events in 2010: Amica Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island, Ironman 70.3 Racine, Rohto Ironman 70.3 Miami, Ford Ironman Lake Placid, Ford Ironman Louisville, Ford Ironman Wisconsin, Ford Ironman Florida and Ford Ironman Arizona.

Sure is. This is my fav Augusta road race, plus there's a 1/2 mile kids' run:

As far as food, on Walton Way near the hospitals, is a yummy Chinese resto run by a nice family. No MSG and healthy options. It looks kind of run down from the outside but it's good, inexpensive, and copious! Szechuan Gardens.

Anyone read through the 24 page race booklet yet?  I don't remember having to wear my race number during the bike last year.  Does that sound right?

i read some of it. i always thought you had to wear our numbers on the bike. bike check in seems late. in florida we were allowed to put our bikes in at 11.

i can't believe we can use snorkles, what a sight that would be....lol

I noticed the "wear your number on the bike" deal...I've never had to do that so it stood out.
I missed the snorkles rule...anything in there about water wings?  Wink

A few guys wearing snorkles at St. Anthonys this year. Doesn't look right, but after drinking a couple liters of gulf water it started to make sense.   Not that I would use one anyway.
Number on the bike is a first, but the rules even specify it needs to be facing backwards on the bike and forward on the run, so I guess they really mean it. Race belt, problem solved.

Dont remember wearing # on bike last year. Didnt see anywhere about having to where a shirt. I know we had to last year. I think the snorkel rule is in place for people with neck injuries. So where do we stand on a bt get together. I plan to hit the expo fri and swim sat afternoon before dropping off the bike. Do we not have to go to the meeting before we get our packets last year it was mandatory.

A race belt will definitely fit the bill...I did see the mandatory shirt rule somewhere in that 25 page packet. The schedule used to say "mandatory" next to the meetings but now it says "optional".  I wondered about the same thing, though.

tahrens - 2010-09-14 3:53 PM Is this an in water start or are we diving off a dock?

If you want to start in the front as soon as your wave goes off you'll be in the water before the gun goes off- they have a rope that you'll have to hold onto.  For those who don't want to start in the water you can wait and jump off the dock after the people in front of you go.

soccerphan,
Thanks a lot! Yeah, that was me yesterday! It was a great day and the Augusta comunity made it even more special. It was a very emotional ceremony, one I will never forget!

Sure, it's about a 1 - 1.5 mile walk. I've thought about using it as a warmup run.1 week!!!!
