10 inches is awesome if I am out in California or Colorado - no big hills in Wisconisn to ski on

I haven't missed a workout in over 2 years...and I have been reminded many times I need to take a day off..one of these days

HAHA...Sturdy.  My girlfriend uses the term "rugged".

My goal is to be down 5-8 lbs from 195.  So far...not exactly going the right direction...but it's a long season right?

I'm actually not the one trying them..who is?

Racing on Saturday.  I think I have an IT band issue but not in the knee area - up in the hip probably from running around the track training for this race.   Hopefully it will go away.

Do we have a resident expert on nutrition? Surprised

Doing better thanks. Still some tightness in hip and what feels like a tight hamstring in right leg.  Sticking with swimming and biking this week.  Hoping to get back to running by Feb. 1

firstteeth - 2010-01-13 7:34 PM First run in my VFFs tonite, ran 1 mile on the dreadmill in them and it felt very natural/normal...although louder.  Then did rest of run in usual shoes...really liked it better in the VFFs, but definitely feel different muscles being used.  So preliminary report is cautiously positive.

Hmmm, public weigh indeed.  Yeah, not so much Wink  Lost 25 pounds a year ago, and have maintained since.  Need to kick it back in and lose 20-25 more, hopefully by the summer.

Any more runs in your Vibrams? Can't wait to get somewhere to try them out.

Morning all...I would like to take a moment to profess my love for napping.  I love napping.  I took a nap yesterday when I got home from work and now I'm a new person.  And that is sweet.

I've got some speed work to do today...hopefully the weather will continue to improve so I don't have to do it on a treadmill.

Love to nap, they usually don't like it when I nap at work while working at my computer. So I try and keep the naps short.

Wow, you two sound just like my husband...who is so proficient at napping, that he has fallen asleep during board meetings!!  That is talent!

Yes, have run several times in them...kept to around a mile of my run each time, and it has been on the treadmill, and I am loving them!!  Definitely a very different feel to run in them, but haven't really had any sore muscles as I expected to.  I also wear them around the house all the time...love that too.  In another week will try increasing mileage, i've read to take it slow on increasing distance.  I'll keep you posted.

So how many hours a night do you sleep? I usually don't get to bed untill 10, and get up between 4:15 & 4:30 so about 6 1/2. Saturday & Sunday usually up by 5:00 - 5:30.

I try to get to bed by 10 also, but it's usually 10:30 and I'm up at 5:30-6.  It's about the same on the weekend, except in bed by 12, up by 8.  Sleeping through the night is another story.  I probably sleep through the night 50% of the time....and if it's a full moon forget it, up at least every other hour.

Runners World had a story about this a few months ago. Not sure if you caught that.

I usually go to bed around 9 and get up at 4:30 or 5 if I am going to run or ride. If no workout, I sleep until 5:30. It's been this way for so long that I think it's programmed into the very fiber of my being. But I do love my naps on the weekends.

During the week I'm in bed at 9-9:15pm.  Read a few minutes and hopefully sleep by 9:30.  If swimming up at 4:35, if not up at 5:10am.  Always great to get a weekend nap in-especially if I am going to be up late-you know 10-10:30

On a different subject.......How many of you are members of a local tri club?  I recently joined one here on the Gulf Coast.  I think they have lots of active members but not sure how active the club is. I do 95% of my training alone so not really looking for training partners although it is nice to have folks to ride and run with-helps with the motivation.

They are doing something this week-an "Indoor Ironman".  You complete Ironman distances in each of the three sports over the course of the week and report in your daily progress.  Does not actually have to be done indoors since we have more tolerable temperatues than you artic dwellers.  Seems like a good idea to me and everyone that finishes gets a finishers t-shirt.  Given fact that I am not back to running I will look to complete swim and bike segments.   Thought some of you might be interested.  Good way to break up the winter training with some specific goals.  Of course, it could be adjusted to do olympic, HIM or other designated distances.

Weather looks good today. 65-70 with no rain.  Going to get a couple of hours in on the bike somewhere other than in my garage.  Have a good weekend everyone.
