disturbed275 - 2010-04-17 11:44 AM I just got back from a 10k.  I finished 2nd overall with a time of 37:27.  I'm pretty sure they shorted the course about a quarter mile, but I'm still pretty pleased with the effort.

Time to rest up before the afternoon bike ride!

Nice job Neal!!

kcarroll - 2010-04-18 4:57 PM Thanks for the Ghoulie shout outs along the way today.  All your encouragement the last weeks and months made a real difference.  It was perfect weather for a race.  I did fairly well, although a bit behind my planned 2:30 finish.  Of course, a wait for the porta-potty at mile 4.5 wasn't part of the plan. Next time, will make sure to have some coffee before the race to get things taken care of. Embarassed   But if that is the worst thing that happens to me in a race, I am happy.  Most importantly, my knees felt just fine.  The legs weren't happy in general the last 3 miles, but that is just training.  I got a bit of a boost at mile 11 when an old friend I've not seen in ages was walking back to his car along the course.  Nice to get a hug and hello at that point.

While I was fairly stiff after finishing, I pulled my Zoot compression recovery tights on for about 2 hours while we drove home and ate.  They really work.  I have no soreness or stiffness as I type this.

ironannekidd - 2010-04-19 6:13 AM So this week is Spirit Week at my kids school.

Today is Crazy Hair Day. I wanted my son to just put some goop in his hair and have it all wild. I told my daughter to have grandma put 5 or 6 pig tails in all over the place. Easy right?

Nope

They wanted to color their hair. And they asked me a little after 7 last night if we had any of the color spray. 7:20 last night my son and I run to the store and all they had was glitter spray, so we got that. My son wasn't too happy about it, but I told him a little more notice would have helped.

Tuesday is tie-dye day. So while we were at the store I purchased a kit to dye shirts. 8:30 last night I'm dying t-shirts for the kids.

I looked at my daughters this morning before I put it in the wash I don't think it looked too bad. It's a swirl kind of pattern. I hope my sons looks ok. If not we still have tonight to make another one.

The kit I got showed instructions on how to make 8 different tie-dye patterns. Both of my kids picked the hardest one.

Thanks kiddos!

Gotta love it! My kids would tell me the night before or sometimes the morning of that they needed XYZ for school! my favorite one was when my son told me that morning that he needed to be dressed as a book character and being in the book! We tore through his book shelf and came up with the Giving Tree....of course he wants to be the tree and not the boy! I ran downstairs and ripped through my Christmas decorations and grabbed the pine bough stuff I had and wrapped him in it! then gave him an apple and taped leaves and the heart on him.....he couldn't walk to school in it so I packed it up for him, we get the pictures back and I am looking at him and asked where his costume was...he changed his mind and wanted to be the boy! Yell
by the way I love tie-dyeing!

I tie-dyed a few shirts years ago, but they were single colors.

Last night we used yellow, blue, red, then made purple, green, and orange.

I had gloves on and my hands still got dyed.

hmmmmm looks like I am alone in the village! i had a very busy weekend!
Saturday I had a lovely 42 mile bike ride in the WIND!!! It was awful! There were times I was riding almost sideways! Then the wind would be in my face and I was only going 9 mph down a hill! I felt like I was standing still! Not once was the wind at my back helping me along! Had I not been with a group I would have bagged the bike well before the 3 hrs it took us! Although I have to say It gives me confidence that if I can make it through that wind I will be fine on my bike for Racine!
Then we celebrated my sons birthday yesterday, his birthday isn't until the 24th but I have my race that weekend so we did it early. Glad the weather was nice because we had a ton of people over! great weekend overall though!
Now on to the clean up!

Nice job Kim!

I should have gone for a ride on Saturday but it was too windy for me. We ended up having a friend of my daughter's all afternoon anyway, so I stayed home with them instead of sending 2 six year old girls out to split wood with the guys.

We should have better weather here this week. Normally Friday is my rest day, but my legs are sore today from yesterday's run, so I'm thinking I may take today off, unless I just swim. Friday I will get a couple of miles in around the track at my kids school for a fundraiser. My son has an hour on the track in the morning, then 4 hours later my daughter has an hour. I'm thinking of jumping on my bike between the two for some miles.

Hello Ghoulies!!

Life is finally back to just normal chaos!  LOL

Between taxes (yes, I procrastinated to the last week) and then 4 days of continuing ed classes, I have not been working out or on the computer.  I see that I am over 20 pages behind just with Ghoulies.

It is good to be back.  Now I just need to get on the workouts again!

EARLY AFTERNOON GHOULIES....

hopped on a little early.  stopped off to get some portable grub for the Wild Things to have for dinner when they come to the Y w me tonight.

didnt think that poptarts outta the vending machine qualified as a well balanced meal.

i bought some decent looking strawberries.  im hoping they taste OK.

im SERIOUSLY spoiled when it comes to strawberries.  the farmers market up the road where i buy most of our produce through the summer gets homegrown strawberries in that are just UNBELIEVABLY good.  they've ruined me FOR LIFE.

cant wait until they open up for the season....until then i'll 'bear' the grocery store bought ones.

i ran into my UBER CUTE ROCK CLIMBER/BARTENDER/MANAGER AT MAD MEX friend at the grocery store.

totally BUSTED on him for having BACON in his salad.  this BEAUTIFUL SALAD and he desecrates it with bacon.  LOL.

oh so nice to see him and we joked it was the first time we saw each other outside of Mad Mex.  [and here i though he lived there.  LOL]

he gave me a wonderful hug AND kiss on my cheek goodbye.

and i gave him a wink and told him we need to make a habit of seeing each other outside of Mad Mex.

oooooh.  and i did i mention ICECREAM MAN came back to the Y yesturday...with his kids....asking me how my icecream was.  i of course 'gushed' about how great the icecream was.  smile.

each time he's been there hes asked me what time im done w work...and i keep thinking...he's gonna ask me out for drinks or coffee or somethin.  come dude, just ask.  LOL.

im ok with icecream though.....for now.
