Subject: RE: Men's May Challenge Threadpdbman - 2010-05-13 12:28 PM And now for the sad news. My Mom and Dad were scheduled to leave for a service mission yesterday but my Dad has been having problems with his ear. He has been going through some treatments for it and hasn't been responding very well. They finally went to a new doctor and he decided to do some tests. It turns out my dad has a rare form of bone marrow cancer. Its not as serious as most cancers. It of course affects your blood but the biggest concern is how it affects the immune system. In the early stages it can be treated with medication. Well he's past that stage. They are having to cancel the mission for now and he starts chemo Monday. I don't know how long the treatments will go or what the long term prognosis is yet. It sounds like it might be genetic because I have a distant uncle that has the same thing and he has been living with it for 15 years. I hope things turn out the same for my dad. Please keep him in your prayers also (his name is Dave) as you pray for Cory. That's sad news, Paul... but it sounds like your dad has a very good chance at a positive outcome. We'll be sending prayers his way. |
