Wow...I haven't been keeping up, but you guys are holding down the padding contest pretty well.  But I'm not really surprised since Bill (muck raker) is on our team.

So anyway...after my race this past Saturday, I did a long ride on Sunday and am tapering down now for my Oly this coming Sunday.  Hoping to learn from a few mistakes last week and nail this race down.  It might be fairly windy, but it'll be windy for everyone...so no complaints.  The bike is my strongest leg...so I should actually hope it's really windy to play to my advantage.

Hope everyone else's training is going well.

The muscle spasms in my neck will keep me from training again today.  Feeling a little better than yesterday, but that may jub be the 1000mg of Motrin talking.  I hope to be back in action this weekend doing some biking or running.

GO CORY!!!

wgraves7582 - 2010-05-13 5:35 AM An update on Cory:

The surgery did not have to be as invasive as they first worried and it finished 1 hour sooner than planned.  All good signs.  They meets with pathologist??? Monday for further diagnosis/planning.
Please keep them all in your prayers still - thanks

That's good news!

And now for the sad news. My Mom and Dad were scheduled to leave for a service mission yesterday but my Dad has been having problems with his ear. He has been going through some treatments for it and hasn't been responding very well. They finally went to a new doctor and he decided to do some tests.  It turns out my dad has a rare form of bone marrow cancer. Its not as serious as most cancers. It of course affects your blood but the biggest concern is how it affects the immune system. In the early stages it can be treated with medication. Well he's past that stage. They are having to cancel the mission for now and he starts chemo Monday. I don't know how long the treatments will go or what the long term prognosis is yet. It sounds like it might be genetic because I have a distant uncle that has the same thing and he has been living with it for 15 years. I hope things turn out the same for my dad. Please keep him in your prayers also (his name is Dave) as you pray for Cory.

Missed my workout last night. I didn't get home until after 10:30, hadn't had dinner or anything yet and was exhausted. I'm planning on a swim at lunch and hopefully a run this evening.

That's sad news, Paul... but it sounds like your dad has a very good chance at a positive outcome.  We'll be sending prayers his way.

Finally have some movement in my neck and the soreness is going away.  Those muscle relaxers are unbelievable!  Hopefully, I'll be close to 100% tomorrow and can get back to some training.  What a pain in the neck (ha ha)!

Yeah. We're not too happy with the first doctor. He ended up puncturing my dad's eardrum while trying to clean the ear when treating the infection. About 1/3 of his eardrum is a hole. His hearing in that ear is almost down to nothing now. The new doctor said that since its been so long since it first happened the hole may never completely heal but his hearing should improve over time.

Just got back from my lunchtime swim. I like swimming in the early afternoon. Had to pool to myself. My swim goal is now 50%. I need to focus on some of my other goals and bring them up. I'm way behind on my running but should be able to catch up if I stay focused.
