Seems it's starting to warm up a bit here in London too! Only just about managed to get any points this morning as it's 1c(33F) but, thankfully, there is a 7mph(11kph) wind. I'm guessing this is going to be a low scoring week for me.

picked up a few points on a walk with the hubby this AM.  Now for a chilly ride.   That ought to earn me more points!

We had some crazy wind today that was pushing me around on the highway - but no time for an outdoor workout!

I think I missed this part in the explanation of points, so I'll just ask. When you bike in sub-40 degree temps, are you only getting the 1 point bike multiplier and NO additional cold temperature point multipliers when it's really cold, or do you get those too? For example, today's cyclocross race was 30 minutes in low 20s w/ 15+ mph wind. So is it 30 x (1 bike + 2 wind)? Or is it 30 x (1 bike + 2 wind + 3 for 15-24 degrees)? Thanks in advance.

You will add to the formula the points for temperature as well as the bike multiplier. The +1 for bike is to give credit for the added suckitude compared to the same conditions and running for example.

Suck! I mean awesome! I've been shorting myself extra craptastic points. Thanks, Melissa!

you get the multipliers for the temp as well as with the 2nd example.

I got some points!

And worried about my performance/adherance/safety during the winter running program. I can barely walk in the winter... This was my first day running on snow with hidden ice - so far so good! A very slow run but still a run.

Have you thought of adding something to your shoes for traction?

Ran on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday for 547 points!  My runs are shorter now as I am tapering for the marathon on the 19th.

Two from Galilee is over.  It was a great run and we were full every performance except Thursday night-the first night.

Gotta get a run in today...it's snowing, it's cold and there is some wind!  Recipe for a great run and some points.

nichip - 2010-11-30 6:05 PM sorry, haven't been around here, lately.  Our church is doing the musical, "Two From Gallilee" and four out of the six of our family are in the production, so it has been a little hectic around here.  We have performances this week from Wednesday to Sunday and yesterday, son and I did some volunteering for Operation Christmas Shoe Box in Minneapolis.  Tired, but it's a good tired~

Nichi

Howdy Nichi.  Our church got 275 boxes for OCSB.  Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Thanks, Bill.  It was a great Thanksgiving.  Our church has been doing the shoe boxes for years with the sunday school classes. This is  first time we went to the warehouse to volunteer for the day...12 of us went. It was a greatexperience. We inspected, taped, and packed over 40,000 that day(everyone who volunteered, I mean!)

Question... With my last two pairs of running shoes, I have a worn part (actually a hole!) in the center of the bottom of the shoe(but on the inside).  What would cause that?  I have been wearing asics.   My foot was starting to hurt on my last 26 mile run, but didn't notice the worn part until after the run.  I have 2 pairs of running shoes.  One for shorter runs, one for long runs.  Guess that pair is done!!  Thanks in advance for your advice.

Nichi

I usually wear YakTrax, but there are other products out there that attach to your shoes for traction.

X2, I ran in the winter 6 days/week last year with YakTrax!  They work great.

Hello kids.
I miss being part of this challenge!
But crutching my way to the car does not really add up many points , sadly.
Maybe in January I can start doing some short rides outside.

Carry on!

I have thought about it but the Running Room said that none of their employees use them... I will decide as time goes. Hope no slip!

Weather continues to be crappy here in London (i.e. only -1c (30F) and next to no wind), so scored very few points for my run last night and this morning.

Hopefully the rumours that the temperature will drop to -7c (19F) will be accurate!

Back around 1987 or 88 when I was stationed in Germany I ran in the London marathon, that was a big race.
