Speaking of usa-mex, we're having rice & beans w/ hot sauce & avocadoes for dinner tonight -- can't wait! Probably w/ a green salad. So glad that beans count as a veggie on that chart -- it means my daily dose of hummus gets me points, too Now if only my training was going as well.... Edited by skarl 2011-01-07 4:11 PM |

Master 1623 | Subject: RE: January Training and Nutrition Challenge 20 minute run in with my mom today. It was a great run. No shin splints at all which flared up the last two runs so I'm hoping the ice, stretching and foam rolling helped. I'm impressed with my mom. She's been running 3-5 times a week on top of walking the dog 2-4 miles every day. Good job Mom!! |

Without even thinking about it, I grabbed $1.25 out of my drawer, walked to the office kitchen, bought a Diet Coke, sat down and took a big swig... NOOOOOOOO! Oh well... might as well have a hot fudge sundae now! $1.25 for a DC? That alone should make you quit! But then I paid $5 for a beer last night so who am I to talk.... $5 for a beer!?!?! I need to move to CO! I'm looking forward to Opening Day at Fenway Park (against the Evil Empire no less) where my beloved Guinness will be $8.25.... and I know what your thinking, "you should be drinking water" - well I wouldn't be surprised if they are selling bottles of that for $10 yesterday was 1)a rest day, 2) and complete work-related disaster of driving from one nightmare to another with nothing but a bagel and coffee until dinner which consisted of mac and cheese - it had peas in it but.... 3) my water bottle is only a 34 oz-er. ZERO points for the day. looking forward to next week and racking up a higher point count! |

Master 2146 East Side of the Bay | Subject: RE: January Training and Nutrition Challenge Hummus is a veggie? really?! Wow my point count can go way up!! I have removed 4.5 lbs since the beginning of the month. I am sure some of that was water from all the holiday ham & salty goodies, but a lot is just better water intake and nutrition in order to get my points!! Thanks to you all! I always try to avoid losing weight- don't want anyone to think I am looking for it to return. Have a great weekend all and Happy Training!! |

Solid on staying active. The nutrition part... well, I'm doing the best I can. Question of the day: do jalapenos and artichoke hearts on a pizza count as a serving of veggies? Well......they ARE vegetables......is the quantity really a serving size? I'm thinking the two combined might have been. The pizza place gives this little plastic container that holds a quarter cup of jalapenos as a side. I mowed through those. Between the two slices of pizza, there was probably about a half dozen artichoke hearts. I know, I'm grasping... |

If eat a half-cup of chili paste in a day here--and I can and I have--you betcha I'm counting it, especially since I'll probably have blown off half my face in the process |

Master 2411 Goodyear, AZ | Subject: RE: January Training and Nutrition Challenge I did better than I thought this week- maybe I am a "resolutionist" after all Except the fruit and veggie column is a disgrace. I plan to work on that next week and have more than one "no junk" day. I think I am really good about exercising but not so good at taking care of my body with food and sleep. I finished off my week with a 67 mile group ride. I've been very consistent with tri training for 3 weeks now and the body feels great. Hope everyone has a great weekend! |
